For those who don't know, the red lantern is the name of an award given to the person who finishes last in the Iditarod Race, representing the perseverance and determination they had to finish the race.

The director said she was nervous to show the game off and I love the honesty. Thankfully though the team is making a really interesting looking game that looks to be highly depressing and I see a lot if people hyped for this, me included.

Just hearing the word “Iditarod” during the Nindies presentation had me excited. I’ve always been fascinated by this race. Getting to play such a beautiful looking game revolving around it makes me feel like it was made for me.
I live in Alaska and I am thrilled this game is happening.
I can relate to this feeling. Feeling like a disappointment. And how it feels to not have a plan. I'm feeling that very often, since I never finished school

That TLD is an awesome game. I only played during the development when it had no story, but it was fun. Only wish that I could get back into it and play the story campaign.

*Depression : the game*
Pac-Man is actually a metaphor for depression. The ghosts represent Pac-Man's anxiety (Blinky AKA Shadow), negative self-image (Clyde AKA Pokey), social avoidance (Inky AKA Bashful), and paranoid double-guessing (Pinky AKA Speedy) respectively. Pac-Man's life is an endless repetition of the same cycle over and over again: running from his depression through the same maze-like environment, never knowing what turn things might take next. When he leaves one side of the screen, he ends up right back at the other. The pellets Pac-Man eats represent stress-eating, small moments of solace between bouts of oppressive sadness, or time itself; Pac-Man must progress through his day without having a nervous breakdown, in constant fear of the ghosts haunting him, for his entire adult life. The power pellets are actually symbols for anti-depressant medication Pac-Man takes. As he eats power pellets, Pac-Man temporarily drives off the ghosts, striking back and taking control of his life for a short time, and as he faces more ghosts, his self-confidence rises until the pills inevitably wear off and something causes his mood to drop again, which is why you get point bonuses for eating multiple ghosts with one power pellet. As time goes on, Pac-Man starts to develop a tolerance to the effects of his medication due to taking more than the recommended dose, and the pills have less and less effect, until the ghosts don't turn blue at all and the pills can only slightly help him in avoiding his depression momentarily. The infamous "kill screen" is the natural end of Pac-Man's life, where he can no longer escape the ghosts because he is dying of old age. No matter what he does, he can't go on.

A really beautiful game, but sadly the Trailer is very deceiving. The game pretty much runs on rails, you cant control the sled or even your character, you just have some quick events and choices to make every now and then. It really heavily relies on the story, but lacks the gameplay.
Agreed. I was so excited from the moment I saw this game. So disappointed to see that it's just an on rails choose your (not that variable) adventure
Well, I'm not buying it if Vice (Space Sector 0013) doesn't make an appearance. Atrocitus is nice, but he's not the only Red Lantern, you know!

@Eldar Voe just from reviews it sounds like PC is the better way to go. Unless they patched it, I heard the Switch version has some terrible frame rate issues that are common. I have not tried the Switch Version myself, so I can't confirm it.

Out of all the nindies, this is the one that I'm most excited for. It seems to be the most engrossing and unique. Making it the most worth my time and money.

Ha ha ha. I said that this looks like TLD, and I loved that game. I still need to go back and play. I played some during the development before the story came along. And, it was fun, but I kept dying -- didn't know how to cook food or whatever, and I ran out of supplies -- even though, I found an indoor fire stove.
ME: Huh. This game looks cute, fun and probably gonna make me cry at the end of the game.

Recently I’ve watched a documentary about Aliy Zirkle and I got totally driven in to her story. And this trailer gave me very similar vibes!

Well it probably has replayability since there are like 100 random events meaning that you will not see all of them at first

Where the red fern grows was my favorite book growin up... i read it like 20 years ago but pretty sure i loved it cuz somethin happens just like that opening scene... a boy who loved and raised these puppies is walkin through the woods one day and the two dogs die protecting the boy from a bear if i remember correctly... this game kinda brought me back to that... makes me wonder too... whats different about dogs that they would die for u? Isnt that kinda wild? Arent animals suppose to rely on basic instinct to keep them alive? Lol sry random side comment... either way i got my eye on this game... well done tuggin on my heart strings 👏

I remember when I first saw this trailer. I was so, so excited to see this game. I waited so patiently for it, and I absolutely adored it when it came out. Then, it got updated? I was SO happy!! I’m still glad this game isn’t very well known. Some games are left better that way. I still love Red Lantern. Always will.
