Need help identifying 1980s robot toy:
I had these robots when I was a kid, I think they came with candy, but can’t really remember. They were made of a soft plastic, in bright colors, and were roughly the size of Muscles Figure. The interesting thing is that you had to put them together yourself. They came in 4-8 pieces depending on the robot and were quite detailed. Came in rubber or various colors, usually red, blue, green. Came in 1x molded part tree form with several body parts and often a weapon or two. I think there was a slip of paper. One side was a colored graphic for the toy line, the other side was a black and white instruction illustration. The whole thing came in a small clear plastic wrap.
The 'D'azione" wording on the Hi-FI Robot packaging, indicates Italian. One of The Bend-A-Bots' guns is taken from the mold of a weapon that with the Mospeada/Robotech Cyclone motorcycle that transforms into a power-armor. Monogram licensed it and made a model kit of it, meant to be painted in red and blue, and so it would approximate Cy-Kill from the Go-Bots, they did the same with their Veritech fighter and called it Leader One.
Awesome!! I've discovered recently that a few companies had no problem reusing molds for Robotech and Go-Bots. It honestly blew my mind that they didn't even change packaging, just logos, lol.
Thanks for watching!
My brother's and I all got one of the two packs of Bend-A-Bots for Christmas one year, so we had eight of them floating around among the four of us. We used them as cannon fodder characters when we played Transformers and because they are the same size as G.I.Joe figures we used them as specialized B.A.T.S. when we played with our Joes.
soundwave came with buzzsaw
Yes, I dropped that in the edit. Words came up on the screen where I corrected myself.
To my eye the Gamebots look and feel a little more like trying to steal some of the thunder from the Gold Lightan IP and toys. Gold Lightan was an anime and toy line about a young boy who finds an Alien Robot, that turns into a nice gold cigarette lighter. Ah! The 80’s! Such a simpler time. Gold Lightan had friends who turned into other common desk items. Bandai made the toys and they were really solid with diecast and metal plating.
This Frenzy was an italian release by the ceppi ratti company. Ceppi ratti release a lot of Bandai super robot toys. This version looks like from the takara microchange line well before the coming of the transformers.
Another awesome video!
I'm watching these videos trying to find a cool toy I had. It was a black robotic spider type thing about a foot tall that used air compression in the legs to walk. I think it was called a Troika but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone remember?
There was a robot toy I got from ToysRUs maybe mid 80's, it was white and had changeable parts, the arms had that ribbed straw look and could bend, that is all my memory has in storage, I can't find a picture or anything about it anymore, if anyone has a clue inform
I've never heard of these toys. Do you know about Select Convertors ?
Yes! I love the Convertors and their Robotech vehicles!
Thanks for watching!!!
@@MySideoftheLaundryRoom The Gamebots look the same as four of the Convertors "Spies".
