Your review also led to my purchase, Todd. Thanks for this clear video user guide because using the owner instructions I would have needed my son's help to set the clock and tune it. It's a beautiful little capable radio. I am very happy with the CC pocket radio and this one.
Thank you for the C.Crane CC Skywave SSB videos. I just purchased one yesterday because of you. I should receive it Friday, or Saturday. I'm looking forward to trying it out. 👍🇺🇲
Very cool. I’m thinking of purchasing this. I’m kind of new to these type of radios. How does it receive those AM stations so far away? Can it receive FM stations that are miles away?
FM is limited to an area typically up to 100 miles depending on terrain. The AM Broadcast band has a longer wavelength that can travel much further, and follow the curvature of the Earth. FM signals pass through our atmosphere, so they are not reflected, or carried by the atmosphere as often. In some cases FM signals can travel great distances when the ionsphere is energized, and tropospheric ducting is happening in your area. Summer time is Best for long distance FM, but it is not always a guarantee.
Excellent video, thank you. I have the original version of the Skywave, and it really is a sensitive, superior radio especially on MW, AM, and FM. I just ordered this radio. Perfect for traveling, however, size aside, the original was just a great radio, fun to use, and I’m looking forward to using this model. I like your channel a lot.
I'd like a radio for hiking and camping that gets a weather band and is strong enough to pull in a few distant radio stations for entertainment. The thing is, I hike in the Olympics and Cascades in Washington state, and sometimes I might be eighty miles away from a powerful station. Is the Skyway strong enough to catch stations that far away? The CCRadio 2E definitely is, but it's a boat anchor for a hiker to carry around.
I listen to radio 900 CHML, at night to listen to the oldies shows...they have alot of nice old shows from like the 40's and 50's and I listen to 1010 news in NY city...
I see one in my future. What a team it and the Tiv 115 would make as you suggest. I really like the solid clicks of the tuning knob. And the "soft" power off is a nice touch. That birdie on 890 AM is a major problem for me though. Can you verify if that is always present? I'd much appreciate it.
So, 890AM I have noticed this birdie from that station on a lot of my portables. Just checked it with my pocket, CC SW, and 777, they all have that birdie sound. Might be my location.
Nice demo and band scan. Do you think this radio is better than the Tecsun 660? I think both radio have all the same bands but the Tecsun doesn't cost as much.
Very in depth review...but heard that theirs not much going on with the short wave radio world since a lot of broadcasters have jumped ship so to speak.Especially living in the western part of the states.Location location where are you? And speak more about the antennae which is just as crucial as the radio.
I have been working on providing that information during bandscans. I usually do Shortwave scans in a different location and use a simple 22' wire extended outdoors to my patio. ruclips.net/video/apy5W1IopcE/видео.html

Good AM/FM performance.
The rest is icing on the cake.
I’m sold on it.
Your review led to my purchase. Love this radio!
Excellent , I love mine.
Same, I'm considering on getting one after going over reviews. I love how it does have a micro-USB jack for power which is a plus.
Of me twenty some collection of sw radios this is one of my favorites
Mine also. I enjoy the regular Skywave model too.

You're Welcome. A premium compact radio for all ;)
Thank you for the C.Crane CC Skywave SSB videos. I just purchased one yesterday because of you. I should receive it Friday, or Saturday. I'm looking forward to trying it out. 👍🇺🇲
You will love all it can do in a super small package. My regular Skywave gets a lot of MW use. The SSB is great for receiving CW.

Thank you D Raff! Glad your enjoying the videos, this SSB is a superb performer.
Very nicely done buddy 👍 Tam.
Thank you Tam...I really wanted to showcase the SSB, but I'm getting nada right now. I did record some code with it the other day. Fine little radio.

The Skywave should be able to hear those signals. It is a very sensitive receiver.
Another good video. You and Two Hands are great! 73
Thank you MDX. Two Hands is awesome. He is the person who told me to start making videos, and has been my Mentor throughout.
that speaks well of him and of your humility by always reminding us that he was your mentor.

Nice! sometimes that station is a hit or miss for me.

Ok found out on the Skywave SSB that it was my camera causing the birdie tone, once I took it away the tone disappeared.
This is great news, thank you!
Which device do you use as your shortwave frequency scanner?
Cool radio. 92.7 dance factory radio
Awesome station that I dial in now and again, I'm up late, way too late :)
Help!! Someone please tell me a cheap(inexpensive) radio to buy with the BEST am/mw reception sensitivity. Thank you so much beforehand.
Joe B.
joseph barreira .... The Eton Executive Traveler is great on AM. It`s on sale now on Amazon for 35 dollars.
Nice demo and band scan. Do you think this radio is better than the Tecsun 660? I think both radio have all the same bands but the Tecsun doesn't cost as much.
Thanks RG, the big deal is the size of the receiver. The Skywave is smaller then the 660, is it better? I need to acquire a 660 to test that.
I wish they made it bigger sized.
SW reception rather than FM
We hope to compare performance.
FM is good at any radio.
I think the problem is SW reception sensitivity.
