BabyMetal was the singer's 4th band at age 12, we joke that she was born with a microphone in her hand. You heard the colabs, they can do any style, there are so well trained. All the Girls spent their whole lives getting good and it shows. They did Anime, JPop, Metal, dance lessons, singing coaches, modeling, acting, Piano plus Acting and Music School. They all were even on a TV show. LOL, even the dancers did baton training. We need some Heavy Metal baton.

This is not a typical video that people would react to, but I highly appreciate it!
It's a festival, so not everything's under their control and I think that makes the reaction even more interesting. You get to see how they adapt and give an incredible show regardless.

Hey Bob, welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥
I'm glad you finally reach a live version on their own but unfortunately this one got a bad sound mix, although it was even worst the first time they upload this and now at least doesn't sound horrible but is still bad, that's why we always suggest the live in Japan official MV, plus the East Kami Band and it's even more epic, Hellfest festival was a great show thou.
Talking about karate, they got a song with that title, and that is my next suggestion:
    - Karate live at Download Festival 2016.
Not sure about the taiko here but they recently did a live show in Okinawa for the first time using taikos for the intro of METAL KINGDOM iirc, it's a song from latest album called The Other One.
They got some traditional Japanese instruments on songs such Megitsune, Onedari Daisakusen and more recently with METALI!!
Anyway keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time.🦊🤘🔥

I try to remember... but I believe the drummers from Okinawa at the Legend 43 concert were doing an "Eisa" style dance/drum performance, using the "shimedaiko" (middle sized drum). It´s different to modern times "Teiko" (which essentially just means "drum") performances.
They did a performance of Metali! with them as well. I watched a fancam only, but it was great!

BABYMETAL have had only one female Kami Band member so far.
During their 'May Revolution' warm up tour in 2013, they had a violinist named MIZ.
None of those concerts were filmed.
The Kami Band members you just watched at the Hellfest performance were Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Ryan Neff on bass and Anthony Barone on drums.

That was a wonderful reaction. I'm one of the folks that have been just hoping for you to see Babymetal live in their headlining element. RoR has a been a show piece of Babymetal's for over 10 years. And over that time the amazingly powerful and unrelenting drumming has been done by two drummers Hideki Aoyama and here Anthony Barrone. Anthony in particular is known for his incredible speed and precision for both hands and feet.
One of the reasons for Babymetal's popularity with the fans is they almost always include sections specifically for audience participation. The audience in their Japanese stadium/arena shows are so disciplined with their parts you could imagine they'd been part of rehearsal. It is something to see...a future reaction perhaps. Those shows are truly mind blowing and the acoustics for the indoor shows really gives a pure experience of the Babymetal sound.

Music from an arcade game: ✅
    Music from an anime: ❌
    Here is why:
DragonForce's Herman Li and Sam Totman were involved in this song doing the guitar arrangements and playing in the studio version. And I believe that "Through the fire and flames" is a well known tune of some very popular guitar game...
On the other hand, any "anime" reference is just a huge and very recurrent stereotype. And I consider it almost like racism.
Also using a live version from a festival for a music reaction is very questionable due to the poor sound mix (a common issue on every festival).
But I like this video (and the whole Hellfest stream) because it settles once and for all any possible lip-syncing accusation (not saying this for you, this is a long term battle).

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (WoD, mosh/circle pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in their almost every show (either in their headline or in huge festival) The audience reaction is always similar to it in this video.
Even I, a 68-yo Japanese guy, run in circle pits several times and chant always.
If you have a chance, please get a ticket to BM's concert in your state at PA Wind Star Creek Event Center in Bethlehem on Nov.21. You will have a similar happy experience.
I call the American musicians with virtuosity in the girls' back "Our Kami Band". Chris (g), CJ (g), Anthony (dr) and Clint or Ryan (b) have been dedicating their energy to BABYMETAL's international activities (including Japan) long and extensive enough to be called as "our" band. They are excellent knights to protect our queen and princesses.😍
(Of course, I love and respect original Kamis. But they are currently and mainly focusing on their own respective activities. So I went to see various concerts, soLi, Kari Band etc. where I can see BOH, Isao, Yuta and other Kamis.)
pc. The amazing drummer Anthony Barone may have left Kami Band recently to focus on his own music activities 😢.

Been lucky enough to have seen them twice in the last 4 years, in a seated arena in 2023 and in a students union hall in 2020, with just 2000 standing. They were epic on both occasions, even at the student hall with just a backdrop cloth for projections. Babymetal and their original genre Kawaii (Cute) Metal was what introduced me to the Japanese Metal and Rock scene back in 2016 and it was so refreshing as, although I'd enjoyed a lot of great music and live performances from a huge number of artists through the 70's and 80's, I'd given up on ever hearing anything new in Rock and Metal by the 90's (which I mostly spent getting into EDM in many forms). Then Babymetal gave me my faith back in original Metal and Band-Maid assured me that the Rock torch hadn't gone out, it had just moved to Japan, where it was burning very brightly. Apart from The Warning and Molly Tuttle's Bluegrass guitar work, I've barely looked West for 8 years! Try their Western breakout performance in 2014 at the UK's biggest Metal fest to see the original line-up and the Kami Band winning over 65,000 dubious Metalheads with a great song about stopping bullying - ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.htmlsi=NQEAKBtBvl7NcNhl

@@bobcieslinski If you just search in RUclips for "BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)" you'll get the correct video. The girls were 16,14 and 14. They had been booked on a secondary stage. Their song "Gimme Chocolate" had gone viral on RUclips so last minute they were switched the main stage. To face a notoriously, cranky UK crowd of metalheads-most of whom did not know Babymetal.
These teenagers-on their first tour out of Japan were very nervous, even a little scared. They didn't know what to expect. But they went out like seasoned pros and performed. By the end the massive crowd was screaming "we want more!" This performance stands as one of the crowning achievements of their very young career.

great reaction Bob-Metal, well, regular BABYMETAL is not what you might think, because all of their songs are different from each other, for example, they don't have another song that sounds like this one, they do have a few songs that are this fast, but their structures are totally different, I would like to prove this to you by suggesting "From Dusk Till Dawn" Live at Budokan 2021, from the same album but totally different, even their song "Karate" from that same album is completely different. It's just the way they started in their beginning and continue to this very day, they refuse to repeat themselves, even their "cute factor" gets heightened or lowered or on the latest album "The Other One" was completely removed, only to be brought back in full force with all of these collabs they've been doing, even their collabs are not a recent thing, they have had collabs all along, their producer has relationships with several top notch songwriters and the music of others that the ladies love themselves are always on the table, their next album will probably have half collabs and have originals, but Only The Fox God Knows.

Babymetal are so cool, one of my favorite bands. They have an underlying theme like many bands, but there's is to unite people across cultures and languages through music. They are very positive. This song, Road of Resistance, is a collab though, one done with Dragonforce many years ago. I have seen them play 10-12 times and they are epic. The girls come to their love of music through dancing, and they imbue metal with their own style, interpreting the music through movements. They put on an incredible show, and it's a metal dance party when they play. I am fascinated by their songwriting, that they include parts for the crowd and in some instances, the musical resolution in a song comes from the crowd. Check out their live stuff, the girls don't feel a song is complete without an audience. Monochrome Live at PIA Arena is a good next step. Or Megitsune

By the way, many people say that Babymetal's songs are like animated songs.
But conversely, many of Japan's anime songs are influenced by metal songs.
Because I heard that the people involved in metal songs lost their jobs in the decline of metal songs in Japan in the 1990s and they produced anime songs. 😀

Sir, you have just cracked what makes one of these moments where stars align.
Every formation of Kami Band is straight up oozing with talent and mad skills, and along Babymetal's musicality they reach their full potential, their speed and intensity channelled by clean vocals, managing to sound crisp and harmonic at over 200 bpm! I don't think they'd be just as relevant as they are within your usual metal band since they wouldn't shine as much, they're always part of the conversation not just within the community but to newcomers and RUclips creators such as yourself. AND FOR GOOD REASON!
And just like they'd be the wasted potential of two decades, the same applies to the girls with their mad coordination, presence and vocals would be wasted on the usual pop scenario. I mean, Momoko joined later on and rose to stardom after years grinding through the idol industry, if that's not an indication I don't what is!
Kami Band and Babymetal is one of those unique combos that result on unprecedented synergy. Thank goodness for that, I say!

This song was co-written with the guys from Dragonforce.
Babymetal is well known for their on-stage dancing. They have been doing this for over 10 years since they were 14 and 12. You need to watch some of their early material. Listen to the song Headbangerr from the Legend 1997 concert to see why they became such a unique presence in the metal world.

Nice reaction! BABYMETAL is greatness, every single time. Even this Hellfest performance was greatness. It was not the best choice sound wise, but still: epic 😄 The dancing in this specific song isn´t about Karate moves at all, nor lend from Teiko drummers. If you look closely, Su-Metal, Moametal and Momometal mimic horse riding at times, lasso throwing, flag waving, going into the front row of a battle formation, and more stuff like that.
The song is about going forward on an unprepared path, against strong resistance, even making a new path, if necessary, but all of "us" together, and in unity. Essentially, it is the history and path of BABYMETAL in a nutshell.
There are two Kami Bands, you listened to the Kami Band West, consisting of musicians from the US. They are the Kami Band currently active.
With an earlier performance of "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", e.g. at the Sonisphere Festival 2014 , good keyword for a video search😉, you get the Kami Band East, all musicians coming from Japan. These guys are SO great as well, but their sound is different. You could try their version of Road of Resistance, too Great guitar harmonies! (it is "Road Of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)", no substantial differences in the music, compared to the performance you watched here, tho).

When the singer left school she was not allowed to stay in the group because only schoolstudents where allowed. The management was smart to let babymetal go on outside school. The band is probably not the kami band. Not sure. They use another band outside Japan. This song was co-written by Herman Lee from Dragonforce. Did see them live twice now. Great crowd interaction. The reason it's not as well known is because of the sound quality/mixing at the European festivals wasn't great. Sadly.

There is no such thing as a normal BABYMETAL song. They have dozens of different songwriters, even at the start they were a supergroup of the most talented people in the Japanese music scene. Each and every one of their songs is a collaboration.

glad you like the band behind the girls but the girls ARE Babymetal; have an outrageous backing band of interchangeable musicians whom, without the girls, you'd never have seen together as a band.
They have a choreographer and they also do some of the dance arrangements. The dances usually follows their music
Now that you've seen them on tour hopefully you are directed to a link to a Live show in Japan where they shine brightly

BabyMetal is most epic live, the singer did start out in an Anime band at like 8-9 years old, so the Anime influence is there. Yeah, recovering from an audience sing along is difficult, they got it all in sync right away cuz they are all professionals.

BM has been around for over 10 years. The girls were so very young when they first started, think of 12 year olds, lol. That was a HUGE crowd, I didn't know that type of crowd still existed these days. BM lost one member who was well loved but has been replaced and I think equally enjoyed these days, but the choreography and dancing has always been a part of their performance. They dance virtually every song, but once in a while during the concert some rest areas are given by doing solo parts. The Kami band has actually had quite a few members over the years, but doesn't seem to matter, all the musicians are first class. Back in the old days the music was tracked in and the "band" members wore these strange and kind of funny looking skeleton outfits and mimed the music. They have the "Fox God" and went from one look to a darker appearance a few years back. Two of their Tokyo concerts have some of the most incredible stage setups I've ever seen, including where they are suspended on a platform while moving over the crowd. Although a point of contention, many of us consider their shows more of a performance than a band, although the mix is there. In a way, K-pop is similar in that the music is there, but the music videos are almost more of the feature, with elaborate stage setups, a lot of costume and make up changes, and of course the K-pop dancing. No doubt the girls are eye candy as well, lol. You'll have to try some Girls Generation or probably BlackPink to get a visual. Glad you checked them out on their own. Probably better videos out there that concentrate more on the girls, but at least you got that general concept!!

"including where they are suspended on a platform while moving over the crowd"
That was at Yokohama Arena in 2015 tho 😄 They did this for "THE ONE", another GREAT song from BABYMETAL. Tokyo Dome was the monster stage with the three elongated coffin like runways with little moving platforms on them, it was HUGE.
