I'm looking forward to the skill system change. It'll be glorious to experiment with ALL those new attacks and am courius how spells will work within the new system
PoE 1 was a love letter to D2, but PoE2 seems to me to not have this constraint and move on to become the true king of the genre by pushing it to new heights!
I think PoE 2 will be closer to D2. Because after all D2 HAD rules (class restrictions, weapons etc). PoE1 is more like a no rules D2, basically be creative, PoE 2 is like D2 on steroids
Pretty sure it’s the pushing the genre thing. It may well push other genres too. I could imagine a Tekken like game with this combat system. Even Pokémon could learn a lesson! 😂
@@TrollAxeThrower Stop thinking about the Diablo franchise! Blizzard is dead and morally bankrupt. PoE2 is what PoE1 could’ve been with a fresh start. It was conceived as just another update PoE version 4.0.0, but required so many changes that it became its own game. GGG isn’t actively trying to do something new, just to improve the game they are already making. It only becomes something new by innovation.
I think the most exciting new thing for me is definitely the amount of customization that will be available because of the weapon swap changes. Its going to be amazing to experiment and find all the new juicy combinations that will now be possible. Being able to have so many 6 link skills available will really make the power fantasy scale tremendously
switching between 2 entire passive skill trees on the fly, all gems as six links, meta gems. the amount of possibilities is really going like tenfold now i will spend probably almost as much time in the character planner as in the game and that is not a complaint. summer can't come soon enough.
Grenade launcher LOGIN! The new weapons are awesome, I'm a bit weirded out by the 'no two different weapon types dual wield' thing, especially after a league where they added a few skills to take advantage of that exact setup and those abilities are awesome
Yes! Grenade Launcher and Mines. Demolitionist LOGIN! I hear you on the weapon type lock, though hopefully having the auto weapon switching tech will make that feel less of an issue. No doubt you'll dive deep and figure out the busted new tech ;)
From what I understand, the new trap/mine skills are going to functions similarly to the bolt skills from the PoE showcase. Having either a trap or mine weapon equipped will change how the skill functions instead of traps and mines being two separate skill types. I don't remember exactly what part of the showcase this bit of info was in, and I don't know if the are still planning to do this.
I would love a video on future improvements in story telling for PoE 2. Exilecon showing with alva popping in and naratig whats going on was amazing. I wonder what else can be done.... ;)
I've always wanted to run a magic staff + shield in a game. I've never seen it since staves in many games are often considered two handed weapons despite being held in 1 hand majority of the time.
I dunno if I got a good enough look at those flail clips. lmao. I could feel the frustration of contemplating what to edit under the voice over for that bit, you did well in making a bit out of it and working with what you had tho.
With skills bound to mastering a specific weapon type, many play styles can be buffed and nerfed to balance them all out. There’s less danger to break the entire game with every update and yet you can switch between two weapons and their specializations instantly.
Couldn't agree more that this is an exciting development for the game. Not only at launch when we get a gazillion new combinations and play styles to try,. Not even just thematically having skills that look and feel 'right' But most of all for the game going forward for league after league where the designers can add unique and tailored new skills to the game that will change the meta within specific class fantasies. Super Exciting stuff! FINGERS CROSSED for two handed flails and hand dual wielding hand crossbows! Great video TRI as always :)
I m still waiting a proper explaination of Assasin/Shadow. Poe1 shadow play is embrassing due to 1H+Shield. I m hoping a nice dual-wielding Assasin class they ll introduce. I m with you with 1H handcrossbows/bowguns/revolvers as dual wield too.
I'd like to see you do some lore videos. I did the Gemling Queen quest line for the first time a few weeks ago and think it would make great content. You could be the Vaatividya of the POE space.
Do we yet know if there will be skills that can only be found on a weapon or will there be a gem that would be available? Obviously the crossbow will have non gem skills but will other skills be exclusive to a certain weapon and not just weapon type? Edit: Hrishi just answered this question when talking about uniques with Ziz. There will be skills that are exclusive to certain uniques in 2
There's just something so iconic about FBs isn't there! With the way the new system works I could imagine a stat on FBs like: - Can use Mace Skills whilst unarmed. And then they just have a small number of punching the ground animations added
Honestly Itd be better if they just didn't need facebreakers. Just make skills for unarmed and bake in the damage to the skills. It would free up a glove slot.
@@Deminese2 for sure, we know that they will have lots of unarmed skills in the game that require nothing but an unarmed slot or quarterstaff. That being said it could be interesting if certain uniques offer the ability to access other weapon skills whilst unarmed
Witch is the Necromancer of the game? I saw him summoning skeletons. Fantastic I was getting worried because I hadn't seen this class in POE 2 yet. Summoners are the classes I play.
the only flail they show us do only elemental damage instead of phisical damage. i imagine they will be like the str-int scepthers of poe 1 but even more focused in delivering elemental damage in Meele form
A dream come true would be to have : Nun Chucks for Monk and a Zweihänder for Melee Strength class (with an ability to carry and use it how For Honor did it) Also : 134 Days till Path of Exile 2 Beta.
I really really want to know if old weapons are getting a facelift with new implicits. I'm just worried with all the new weapon types, old ones will be totally left in the dust.
Don't care for poe1, but looking Forward to this. I just wish the crossbows were, instead, some kind of magic/steampunk hybrid guns. Thematically, crossbows just don't resonate with what you're able to do. Still looks cool tho. I really like that you're not just running through the map pressing 1 button.
I don't like to restrict the Skill to even less Weapons. It makes sense in PoE 1, even lore wise, it would look silly to do a leap slamp and then the wand snaps. It's seems they wan't to focus more on the Weapon Skilltree and Weaponswap and that than can be nice but over time the majority of users are going to automate it, if even possible, or just don't use it att all. Regarding the new Weapons: It's either Melee or it's not, those are the only real two destinctions that will be of importance, sure at the beginning everybody will love the new Animations and whatever gimmick. In the end it all comes to speed, and nobody will care anymore. What I wan't to see are more Builddefining Uniques, Weapons that open up new options otherwise not Possible or even don't work at all with certain Archetypes because of it's downside, same for other Uniques. Shavrones, Voltaxic Rift, Chains of Emancipation, Facebreaker, Scolds Brittle, Starforge and Hiltless are just a few that have/had unqiue interactions on opened Builds that where other wise impossible. Most of the other Uniques are just worse than 1 or 2 good rares, and that's where PoE 1 changed over the years. You get so many crafting options and they still add something almost every 3 Months, the result is that alot of Uniques lost any purpose over time. Wanderlust were a good option for any CI build, but now we get Freeze imunity from Pantheon, Aura, Boot Craft, Reduced and Avoid on Rare gear and Permaflasks ouside of PF. So my hope for the new Unique Weapons in PoE 2 is, that they get back to the original concept of the Uniques meaning that they are indeed Unqiue and that they can't be "replicated" by crafted rares, ot it will end like today with Bow Casters and one melee option.
Yeah... took the build versatility of PoE 1 and just... chunked it right out the window, didn't even miss the trash bin, then tossed a Molotov cocktail on build diversity just to make sure players are shoe-horned into particular tracks based on class and class + weapon. And shifting skills to socketed skill gems will very, very likely reduce the number of skills a player can utilize in their endless quest to reduce auras to a max of three - and that only for edge case twink builds.
I have a few concerns about the style of play shown. In POE 1 we are used to roaming through hordes of enemies and killing them in a massacre. What's being shown here is much more reminiscent of Diablo 4 than POE 1 and that worries me as a veteran. I have the feeling that GGG hopes to appeal to D4 players with POE 2, but this should definitely not be done at the expense of the existing player base, the skill system and the hordes of enemies and loot.
You’re not alone. I know it’s really early but in every preview the gameplay has just felt….slow. I really hope this doesn’t mean we can’t build a zoomy character
The fact that they're not holding anything back for later "expansion" and microtransaction really shows. Blizzard wants us to PAY them to beta test D4 _AND_ milk us for future possible $90 expansion is just bananas. The thing is, when you milk your player base dry.... they won't be back for more!
This is definitely a step in the right direction. POE 1 has numerous problems due to the developers hard stance on not capping player power in any way. IMO, this has led to significant problems in the game. You can not give players unlimited power/power creep and not expect it to make a mess of the game. GGG then responds with nerfs to try to reign in players trivializing the content, which never works and only ends up penalizing the more casual gamer. My hope is that POE 2 puts some serious limits on player power. Especially when it comes to movement speed and the one button blow up the screen meta. I want to see boss fights that players actually have to do the mechanics and can’t insta-phase bosses. If done correctly, most of the one-shot mechanics and on death nonsense can be taken out of the game. Lastly, I would like to see GGG take a page out of the WoW book. I would like to see a “Mythic” level added to the game for the streamers and no-lifers to play. GGG will never be able to balance a game between casuals and professionals. A game more friendly to casuals will bore the pros, and a game difficult enough for the pros will be unapproachable for the casual gamers. If GGG wants a more accessible game, they will want to bring in more casual players. Tough decisions will have to be made.
Thing with that is giving it a unique combat style, and about the only one that comes to mind is quickdraw. Not everyone's thrilled with that and making the mechanics for it is no easy task either.
They're all Diablo 2 weapon classes that PoE has been lacking so its not surprising at all which weapon classes GGG chose. Whenever GGG does some really weird decision, most likely it is because Diablo 2 did it.

Been many times I look at a skill in poe and go well that can't be used with x weapon so guess I'm never going to try that skill and poe 1 is way less limiting then 2 is going to be.
