It stinks that you had to restart your story after all that time. This happened to me in 2023 with my current project. I had an idea for the characters and development, but things didn't work out once I wrote them down. I also restarted and revamped this year..but it took a while to get back to it. At least your story will be that much stronger after this experience. I hope you are doing better and that 2025 is going well. Thank you for sharing your insights! I’ve definitely had a similar experience when writing, and it’s *always* that I don’t know the characters well enough or have forgotten what they’re truly like. It’s such a relief how much the story improves when I go back and start actually listening to them. Hope things will go better from here!
