I remember him being in Deception, but I don't remember him being so hard to acquire. But maybe that is just because I haven't gone back and played in a while.

His smug expressions and sly charisma was the only time a character in aftermath actually somewhat felt like a real character. Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa played him well in the movie, even if said movie was still fairly cheesy. He practically nails Shang Tsung down, and I was happy to see that when they were adding him back to MK11, they just said "fuck it, get movie Shang Tsung!" Definitely a step over MK9's version of him.

Honestly HOPE the next game starts with Shang Tsung's ending from MK11. It's about time we get an MK game focused on the villains because 1) "the good guys always win!" is such a boring and played-out trope, and 2) the villains in the Mortal Kombat series are objectively more interesting than the heroes.

As a long time Shang Tsung fan his appearance in MK11 was an absolute joy. Sure the overall story is pretty scuffed, but every second Shang is on screen is awesome.
For Armageddon, I don’t think the quick clash with Lui Kang’s Zombi body was final; the point was to climb to the top of the pyramid and obtain power which Shang Tsung nearly succeeded, Lui Kang’s chain hooks held him back from total victory and the beginning of MK 9 shows that in the introduction when the camera pans up the pyramid stairway. MK 11 is where he truly shines as the final boss for getting away with: stealing Nightwolf’s revenant soul to prevent him from being an ally, convincing Fujin and past Nightwolf from resurrecting Sindel in spite of the her retcon, getting Kronika to lower her guard before the final battle, tricking Fujin into giving him the crown to obtain a massive power up, and stealing both Raiden, Fujin, Shao Kahn, and Sindel’s souls when he didn’t need to be allied with them. I’m pretty sure the MK 12 will make Firegod Lui Kang the winner in the final battle but, the fact that the play had a choice in determining who the ultimate victor is means that this is the closest battle where Shang Tsung has ultimate victory.
Shang Tsung ending needs to be the true ending to have a MK12 story that will bring something we haven’t seen before! Chaos and Order Realm! And the heroes who remain alive! Sick of the old same guys and I don’t want new complete character roster. Eww.
I feel like it's gonna be Shang trying to merge his timeline with Lui Kang. They could use the excuse that kronika tried to use with Raiden and Lui always being destined to fight, but use that with Shang and Lui. That would mean there would always be two different outcomes, one with either of them winning. They could use the excuse that Shang or Lui could feel the existence of the crown in the other timeline, say that is not natural and have one try to invade the other. It would be a great way to have characters that never would exist exist, being all the villains in Shang's timeline and all the heros be on Lui Kang's timeline
In my opinion , it might be cool to play as the bad guys since they are weakned in the liu kang's timeline , and at the end it would be a return of war

It will be cool and all but then we will have to debate Who's story mode in MK12 is canon until MK13 officially confirms it another 4/5 years after MK12.

Goro was stronger than him (obviously), but Reptile was actually implied to be stronger than Goro! Remember that Reptile was meant to protect Shang Tsung from any immediate threats. That could only happen if someone managed to defeat Goro. That means Reptile would need to be stronger than Goro in order to protect Shang Tsung from anyone who managed to defeat him. That means the ranking is: 1. Reptile 2. Goro 3. Shang Tsung
I'm not gonna lie, there's something about Shang Tsung's sprite in the first game that just terrified me as a kid and that feeling sort of lingered through the years.
Ok I know I'm gonna sound super nitpicky here so sorry. But the reason frieze is stronger than other members is because we know of 2 canonical members with a third non Canon one who was originally stronger before his golden form
In mk1 Shang was actually number three in terms of strength for the villains. Obviously Goro is above him but so is Reptile as he was Shang’s personal body guard meaning Reptile was chosen to protect Shang meaning at that time he could have been stronger than Shang
Kinda hope that shang tsungs ending in mk11 is the cannon one. The opportunities are limitless! Other realms finally explore, shang tsungs force clashing with other characters like hotaru, havock, or idk onaga might size the opportunity to come back!
"Everybody that loved Lu Kang." I find that very funny because for almost 2 years before Deadly Alliance came out, there was a pole on the Mortal Kombat website asking which main character should die in the next game. Lu kang had almost 50% of the vote. Next was Sonya with 13%.
That could be a reason why they killed Liu Kang. They were writing the story for Deadly Alliance and probably wanted ideas. Can't be too surprised. Some people didn't like Liu Kang but his death had wait to the story. For years I was heated for that but for the story and as time went on, I definitely understand why, it was time for a fresh change for MK. If that pole pulled weight for the story to kill the main hero , kinda interesting if you really think about it.
You aint lying about the Deadly Alliance opening. Shit genuinely upset me when i was a kid lol i always skipped the intro after the first time because it was just too brutal.
5:40 I think the only instance of Shao Khan teaching Shang tsung soul sucking was in MK Conquest which I think is hilariously not canon? Could be wrong but I'm not sure Shang learns this from Shao Khan in the mainline timeline.

Yep, shang tsung losing ended up being the canon ending, but he still back so that's good
From what we have seen from the trailer, I think Liu Kang will kill him again.
@@Amer93255 characters always die in the trailers, so well see
Correction: technically Shang Tsung IS a sub boss in MK2 before Kintaro
12:45 , from the looks of the MK1 trailer. Both endings are canon in a sense.
Did you write this speech?! You have an amazing way with words.
Need Quan Chi and Ermac in MK 12.. such fun characters in mk10
#BeingBackQuanChi&Ermac
I hope mk12 comes out soon enough that they still can get the use out of Cary’s acting
13:00 did you mean Shang stung or I just missed something
I didn’t know Shao kahn can be that fast until you said so, nice to know
"Load his own safe file" I'm dying🤣😂
Wasn't Liu playable in zombie form in Deception?
You aint lying about the Deadly Alliance opening. Shit genuinely upset me when i was a kid lol i always skipped the intro after the first time because it was just too brutal.
Onaga and Shao Kahn: 🖕
Shang Tsung: 😁😁😊😊😈😈
5:40 I think the only instance of Shao Khan teaching Shang tsung soul sucking was in MK Conquest which I think is hilariously not canon? Could be wrong but I'm not sure Shang learns this from Shao Khan in the mainline timeline.
13:00 you said Shoa Kahn instead of Shang Tsung. 😂😂
