One thing about Montana and Miklo's last talk is that you see the look of sadness on Miklo's face when Montana mentions his daughter. Miklo didn't know that when he ordered the hit. Such a great catch on multiple viewings
Why did Miklo order the hit on Montana though, that part I'm not sure of. Was it because Montana was saying no to La Onda getting involved in the drug trade and waging war with the BGA?

One of the writers of this movie (and supposedly the largest influence on the final version), Jimmy Santiago Baca, was a respected Chicano poet who had done time in San Quentin, and a lot of what ended up in the movie is based on his own experiences. The director was a respected figure in film making, who had previously done An Officer and a Gentleman. The movie was filmed in part at San Quentin itself, using actual inmates as extras. There was some serious power there. So yes, those locations were as real as it gets. Those cells were that small. One actor in the movie, the legendary Danny Trejo, actually did time in San Quentin back in the day, before he got his life together. His interviews about filming there are an interesting watch. The three gangs in the prison, La Onda, the BGA, and the AV, are based on three real gangs, the Mexican Mafia, the Black Guerilla Family, and the Aryan Brotherhood. The story doesn't "end" at the end of the movie because, like with The Godfather, the chapter may be over but the story goes on. A lot of people focus on the flaws of the movie, and there are flaws. But many more find something in it, and it's become a significant film to many in the Chicano community. Back when it came out, I was the movie reviewer for my college newspaper in Fresno, CA. The producers wanted to preview the movie in Los Angeles, but they were worried about it because of some real-life events going on at that time, so they decided instead to do it in the second-biggest gang city in the state, Fresno. They held a press screening, where about 10 or so of us (reviewers) watched the film, and then immediately after we went to a conference room at a local hotel where they had two big, round tables set up, and a really nice Mexican buffet. They divided us into two groups, one at each table, with empty seats between us. They then brought in Hackford, Baca, and a good chunk of the cast (I don't remember exactly who was there, but I know it included Damian Chapa (Miklo), a then-unknown Benjamin Bratt (Paco), and Enrique Castillo (Montana), because I specifically remember talking to them sitting next to me at the table). They took the empty chairs, and talked with us about the movie while eating that good food. This was a group of people who really seemed to believe in the film they had made, and were proud of it. They also all seemed like really nice people, so it was a bit odd to be sitting next to them and chatting over some nice food immediately after seeing them portray such intense characters in the movie. Definitely a memorable experience. The way they told it to us, they had shown the film to some people involved in the Chicano gang culture there in Fresno, and one young man broke down in tears, saying that what he saw onscreen was himself. The film remains important to many people.
Benjamin Bratt voices an Elseworlds Superman in the DC animated movie Justice League Gods and Monsters. In this universe, the Kryptonian that comes to Earth isn't Kal El. But the son of Zod, he's raised by illegal Mexican immigrants.

I'm half Samoan and half white, I've lived in the south most of my life, but I have been to Samoa on multiple occasions. I used to live there when I was 4 years old, then decided to go back when I was 30, and even though I was family, I was still the white guy (even though my skin is brown). I was called "coconut" which I thought was funny so it never bothered me. One day I was talking to an old army buddy (he's 100% Guamanian) on the phone, when I told him about the coconut thing, he tells me that he's been called that too because like me he grew up mostly in the states. I’ve watched this movie like 50 times over the last 30 years… and i always find something new… like how Miklo’s face when he meets Paco after the hit has dark shadows… reminiscent of a skull, or even Vito Corleone, since he was now the boss.
Prison in the 1970s-1990s was exactly how it was in the movie. Today its a lot different. Some Prisons dont allow weights or gym equipment. They also are more strict today with a lot of other things thab back then.
The original movie was almost 5 hours, but the studio wanted it cut to 2hrs. They later came to agree on 3 hrs. According to actors and director, the 5 hour could of been split into 2 movies as the actors signed contracts to make 2 films. Disney owns the rights to the movie and hopefully one day theyll release to entire film, since every year more ppl become more vocal about its release. Montanas right hand man is the one who wrote the movie. You dont see him later on in the movie because in the footage not released he gets killed. Theres lots of pictures online of unseen footage.
I was waiting for booth scene between Paco and Miklo “You have no fu*^ken idea what La Raza means, its about our people out there, working, surviving with pride and dignity that's raza" always hit me everytime i watch this movie
The part were Miklo says he didn't want to go to the hospital was legit. That big hospital in the background was famous for a TV show called general hospital. It's located in East Los Angeles and is very known for not caring for it's locals "Mexicans" mainly gang members. They would let a lot of them die of their wounds.

I could be wrong but I always thought Magic put the hit on Montana without Miklo knowing and that’s why he said he kept it as protection from him and even Miklo looked upset and said I loved him like he had just realized what Magic did…..anyone else see it this way?
24:03 Even if they wanted to, they couldn't have chosen someone better for the role of Big Al. I don't think I've seen someone with a more perverted face than Lanny Flaherty 👏👏👏
The last part of the movie when they destroy the white soap in the cell it is the shape of the comb and set up el mero mero before seeing daighter(miclo set up his own boss)
53:48 this is how they made a copy of the “afro” comb/pick 🪮 to 💀 Montana and made it looked like a black hit on Montana but it was all planed by Miklo and Magic.

THANK YOU FOR REACTING TO IT..
MY FAVORITE MOVIE
A Latina watching this? nice you’re beautiful I’m Puerto Rican n love this movie Aww I wanted to hug you when you cried😭
I been watching this movie for almost 25 years.. Never knew there was a 5 h version. I hope they release it someday. Would be cool to see.
Lets find out abt it so we can watch it on youtube or who ever have it with 2 hours version i want see that
I grew up on this movie. It's one of my top 5 movies of all time. Plus I love how they celebrated Dia De Los Muertos because it's my birthday!
I remember watching this in the early 2000s definitely loving a whole new generation getting into this film

At 53:52 Surprised u didn't pick up on that, that was Bonified's comb they made out of soap they whrere the ones who made the the fake comb
"I mean how can you shoot your own flesh and blood." TRUUUEEEE
I was waiting for booth scene between Paco and Miklo
“You have no fu*^ken idea what La Raza means, its about our people out there, working, surviving with pride and dignity that's raza" always hit me everytime i watch this movie
New subscriber, damn she be watching all the classics. American Me next fasho
The part were Miklo says he didn't want to go to the hospital was legit. That big hospital in the background was famous for a TV show called general hospital. It's located in East Los Angeles and is very known for not caring for it's locals "Mexicans" mainly gang members. They would let a lot of them die of their wounds.
The soap at the end is the comb that Miklo ordered the hit on Montana. I'm sure you've figured this out by now. But yeah. Miklo is the mastermind now
It wasn’t miklo it was Magic saw montana being soft nd set the whole things up first day when magic saw miklo everything change that why he want milko to be the next leader
@@joseeperez3266you're tripping
Now… you gotta do “Colors” 💯💪🏽

@45:00..."They're good actors though...they planned this out:)"
Literally 90% of the few reactors that react to this gem of a movie miss out on that tiny fuckin' detail...
I love you:)
Fun fact
Disney owns the rights to this movie and the artist who paints the pictures is from San Antonio, Texas
Mj got such a big heart getting emotional with the sad scenes I love you 😂
When you get the chance watch Mi Familia or La Bamba those are great movies to watch
and the one about the Mexican campesino who worked for NASA too....
The ending at 53:49 The Soap scene ... that reveals that miklo and magic had montana taken out so they could take over la onda as well as the other prison gangs . Now miklo is the new boss of la onda
this is based of a real story, there was a half white half mexican high ranking dude, and american me is based off real things too, it got like 10 people killed or something
Wrong movie. American Me.
@@gideondavid30 i said that ….? Lol
Pegleg Morgan but he was 100 european his parents were Croatian immigrants but he grow up in a Spanish speaking neighbourhood hence why he joined the Mexican Mafia

This movie was actually shot in San Quentin prison. Only had like 11 actors at the prison the rest were prisoners and prison guards in the actual prison
20:20
That phrase in the Spanish translation became very famous aroind the 2012's
"Dame tu chom chom, güerito presumido!!"
There were some shirts with Popeye's face inbthat scene
I saw fragments of this as a kid back when.i decided to rewatch it in full only about two years ago.
Im because i saw the depth of it this time .great film .

-your new subscriber!
If this is you during a movie talking,talking and talking no way can anyone watch a movie with you!🤣🤣🤣
100k on a video of me “talking” lol but if it’s a problem don’t watch me then I get paid either way 😊
It was a joke youngster. I lived this blood in blood out,and american me life. I do not need to see the movies. I admire youngsters who are trying to learn this type of inside world,and realize that it is not for the fainted heart. Siempre Firme y Fiel a mi gente. Good luck. Stay out for trouble ,cause it is very easy to get into it.
The main character, Damian Chapa, is actually part Mexican and White so they picked the perfect actor for the part.
The fact that you reacted to this movie. I love your channel. I'm not even Mexican at all and it's one of my favorite movies of all time. I used to watch this after school everyday with my sister back in like 2008. 😂 I swear I love this Movie and one of the only reasons I started watching this was because I loved Benjamin Pratt who plays "Paco" and also my sister was married to a Salvadoran and Mexican and he showed her the movie and then showed us.. along with American Me which I saw you reacted to as well ❤ I LOVE THIS REACTION.
Love your videos! Your super funny and your edits are on point
I love how you went from "this movie kinda draggin'" to "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE END!"🤣
Blood in blood out 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Awesome reaction 💯💯💯💯
Anybody who wants to watch this it's streaming on Hulu now for the first time
Is free on RUclips
Luv this Classic Movie 😎 , Cool n Fun Reaction. Keep It Up 🤘😃
He has that Spanish blood in him or the Native Indian blood in him regardless of his appearance, so myself a mixed race Mexican and New Mexican accepts him into the Latino community.
It's 3 hours?! Legit never noticed, anytime it's on I'm in for the ride and never get bored. Says alot when there's movies half as long the lose me part way through.
I had to pause at every sad moments in the movie , i had to prepare my self mentally
I watch this movie once a year and know the whole script by heart!! But these last 2-3 years I’ve watched YT reviews of it or people watching it for the first time and this was by far my favorite reaction lol everyone is mad when it’s over for the first time cuz I coulda watch them grow into their 80s in a 6 hour movie for sure haha
People who grew up in the 70's and 80's understand this movie. Things were very real in those times.
You've only just begun to wait for more. I saw this when it came out. I was 14
Not me getting excited for the big scenes coming up and waiting to see her reaction lol
at the end.
they are getting rid;
of the mold;
that they made;
of bonafides comb;
with the soap.
Mikolo had montana killed.
so he could take over.
montana was killed;
by his own people.
mikolo thought montana;
was getting soft.
And he thought;
if he didn't do somehting.
the aryans would take over.
It's a dirty game
Blood in; blood out !
Great video and your reactions are funny and genuine 😄
I came here because i love this movie but you're fucking hilarious. Subscribed.
The last part of the movie when they destroy the white soap in the cell it is the shape of the comb and set up el mero mero before seeing daighter(miclo set up his own boss)
Easily one of the greatest films ever no question
I really like how emotional you got.. great scenes
“That’s good, he’ll probably have his back”
*15 mins later*
“Gimme some chon-chon”
😂😂😂
Aayyoo lmao stirring up your energy 😂
Damian Chapa who played Miklo later went on to play Ken in the Street Fighter movie in 1994
That’s how I named my baby light skin Mexicano
53:48 this is how they made a copy of the “afro” comb/pick 🪮 to 💀 Montana and made it looked like a black hit on Montana but it was all planed by Miklo and Magic.
Wow, I've loved watching this reaction, very nice.
Shoutout from Guatemala City, Central America! ❤❤
One of my favorite movies. Watched it so many times. 3 hours but the story so good it passes by so quick. Thanks for reacting to this!!
This film brings back memories of Lincoln Heights, California. The spot where they run up on those fools, was known as "Heaven" I miss my hometown, Los Angeles.
I couldnt think of a better way to end it. This is in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.
Homegirl looks stoned af 😅
I've said this many times, I wish this movie was longer. The end makes me wish it didn't end.
