It concerns me that (as in the recent America's Cup) the Brits, rather than viewing adverse decisions as an opportunity to fine tune their understanding, see them as unfair or biased. Protecting their egos in this way seems likely to come at the expense of upping their game and improving their standings. It's noticeable that the kiwis seem to have developed a pretty accurate handle on where the umpires' tipping point will be in most situations.
I didn't miss any of these moments, because the commentators were frothing about them loudly enough during the main broadcast. However, there were plenty of other tight moments and battles happening elsewhere in the fleet that didn't ever get commented on. The TV coverage is soooo frustrating. It's hugely annoying when there's clearly some action happening elsewhere in the fleet but the TV footage is just long continuous shots of one boat. Does anybody care what that looks like? We know already. The aerial shots, where you can see actually see the action unfolding, are really the only views of any use. For sure, when there are the really close interactions, then seeing that from water level is great. But otherwise, extended views of just one boat, when you can see that positions are changing in the leaderboard on the left of the screen, but have no idea why, is incredibly frustrating!
And BTW if it is available to watch, its been spoiled as the subscription email headlined who won. What a spoiler. I will unsubscribe from the emails so this does not spoil it in the future.
I don’t watch races that are in areas that have no wind or sailing culture, and if they ad a e jet propulsion I am out! Love to see boats where all the functions are human powered.
I had to stop watchin after the first leg of the first race as the commentators couldn't keep their colletive mouths shut. talking over each other and the teams onboard. It is unbearable. I am not going to watch any of the garbage anymore. Just awful. Non Sailors will never watch this garbage,
Maybe you should consider your own interests. Watching Sail GP might not be the right for you, maybe its better for you to participate. Its only garbage because you are not sailing on your own and not in a Sail GP boat, isn't it?
Where are the usual videos of the full races over the two days please?
Nice one! Ill be in Tamaki Makaurau to watch this!
