Urban Planners develop plans that create a vision for the development of cities. The most common type of plan is land-use plans that specify where things go in a city, such as road and transportation networks, buildings, and recreation facilities. Some other plans an urban planner might work on are centered around specific topics such as urban design, parks and recreation, and the environment.
Planners can work in particular areas, such as heritage planning; these professionals deal with old buildings and heritage sites. Some planners specialize in economic development and work to improve business districts, and they might look for opportunities to expand tourism or
attract businesses to set up in their city.
