Keep up the great comparisons. I could tell subtle differences bw the 2. Already bought the atkins yesterday so this reinforced no biyer remorse. Great vid, cool selection of genre varieties for sonic comparison!
The biggest difference my ears pickup on is when you strum them. The Atkin is more presence across the tonal range and integrated with full tonal spectrum. The Gibson was scooped in the middle with the Bass the most presence and then trebs. The base was less defined. Also the Atkin scale length is 1/8 longer at 24 7/8 than the Gibson 24 6/8. Some have said that 1/8 allows for just a bit less flexibility and gives more definition? Anyway nice demo. Thanks!
An interesting comparison of two excellent guitars; thanks. From what I've heard on your posting, the Atkin would be my choice, because the Gibson has a somewhat bright tone quality, whereas the Atkin sounds like a more mature guitar -a mellower and rounder sound, with more overtones. That's the only way I can describe how I'm hearing it, anyway. I have yet to play an Atkin, and look forward to doing so.
Just to be the fly in the ointment, I own a $300 EL-00 Epiphone that I've upgraded (getting rid of the plastic parts) and enjoy playing (and listening to) quite a bit. The inverse of Michelle, when they go high, I go low. BTW, Gibson does have a WWII "banner" reissue L-00 that might be the best sounding of all the 00 models I've heard (and it ain't cheap!).
I commissioned Atkin to build an acoustic baritone guitar, which was excellent. They are based near the the historic city of Canterbury, in Kent, UK. I would highly recommend anyone to buy a guitar from Atkin if they have the necessary funds to do so.
I think I’d rate the Eastman right between these. Atkin was my favorite, then the Eastman and Gibson last. Bang for Buck though the Eastman is a killer guitar.
the atkin sounds woodier and a lil more balanced. the gibson has a mid scoop and boomy bass. dig 'em both! perhaps the gibson sounds a little better to my ear .. . thanks!
They are very similar, however, the Atkin, I think projected a little bit more in the room, and I would attribute that to the Torrified top and slightly newer strings. The GIBSON sounded a bit warmer again for the strings, but both sounded great.

Thank you. Enjoy the Atkin!
Never heard of Atkin, so thanks for introducing it. I’ll check them out. Great vid, brother man 👍🏻
Thank you! They’re amazing guitars

Like the nut size better on the Gibson. Nothing beats the original though.
Fun vid. Would be neat to hear the Atkin vs my Gibson LG-2 Banner since they're both aged.

Atkin guitars are amazing. I’ve had two and would get another for sure.
Wow the Atkin sounds big for an L00 replica
How would you rate the E10OOss/v in comparison? which you showed case a while (Eastman E10OOss/v better than L-00) ?
Thanks for the comparison!

@@acousticmusicnthings I admit I was a bit shocked from the Eastman! Surprised by tone and quality for the price.
Thanks!

No skin in the game but Gibson sounded more pleasing to me, mellow and chimey. Atkin was big sounding though.
Great comparison I don't think I heard much of a difference. What did you think It probably would be very different when playing them ?

Interesting... Atkin makes great guitars but there isn't $800-$900 worth of difference in the tone (through a set of Bose monitors) from this demo.
I wouldn’t pay more when Gibson has that Gibson sound, sorry!
