Just a little FYI about Chris Stapleton...As of 2018 Stapleton has amassed credits writing and co-writing over 170 songs.[7] He has co-written six number-one country songs[8] including Kenny Chesney's five-week number-one "Never Wanted Nothing More", George Strait's "Love's Gonna Make It Alright", and Luke Bryan's "Drink a Beer".[9] His songs have appeared on many artists albums including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley.[10] He has co-written with several artists as well including Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, and Sheryl Crow.[11] Chris Stapleton has been recognized with several prestigious awards including five Grammy Awards, seven Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, and seven Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.
Correct me if I’m wrong please. But I also heard that he did all this writing for others as well.. BUT.. didn’t sing/perform himself! And his wife persuaded him and was like “hey, you need to get your voice out there too.” And here he is with that amazing voice! That part I do know for sure!
This song has a special place in my heart. It reminds me of the road a veteran takes when they leave service. During our time, we are heroes and saints bringing vengeance and relief to the needy. After, we step aside and fold our wings so others can take up the cause. Our halos break, and we are left to fend for ourselves. I pray my fellow veterans find their way, and find meaning wherever they can.
This song actually inspired a pivotal scene in the book I have been trying to write for the last three years...lol Don’t think I have cried so dang much trying to write a difficult scene...😢
Thank you for what you do. I have lost two sons in a six year span. I had listened to this song before and I'm glad you are exposing it to others that might not have heard it. I found the song comforting through the most recent loss of my son. They are here to teach us and then they move on. Rest in Peace, Erik and Brian.
He wrote this song immediately upon hearing of death by a longtime close friend. Both young at time although Chris was already in music industry. Man and guitar playing from heart. Unique individual, he and wife plus family and close friends arereal deal.
It's funny how the same song can be given different treatments and then sound so different when you compare the Tim McGraw and Chris Stapleton versions, with one having a full production and the other a stripped down bare version.
I'm a new subscriber and love what your doing. Sharing all kinds of music with some folks who may not have heard it. From a guy old enough to have seen Hendrix a couple of times. Great job.
His wife always sings w/him, except when she had their babies. I knew he was gonna b huge 1st time I heard him sing. Reminds me of some of the good ole boys back in the past, he's country/soul/blues.
Yes he writes all of his own songs, he’s got over 1000 songs and has written for a lot of the famous singers for years. If you want to experience the true country thought of Chris, see his performance on ASCAP awards show where he sings “whiskey and you” - genius! You can’t get any more country than that. Then, for another dose of 100% pure country, Please please please .... watch Chris Stapleton live perform “outlaw state of mind” on SNL and feel the grit! Also Watch him perform “parachute” at farm aid 2018 !!!! Awesome! Is that enough country for you? 😂 He’s one of those artists that can sing anything !
Chris is everything. He is an awesome writer. He has written #1 song for other artists. Occasionally you can catch him singing one of the songs he wrote, and you can tell it was meant to be sung entirely different. Also lead singer in The Steeldrivers and Jompson Brothers.
I love that one.. There used to be an upload of one of their live performances of it that was shot with a cell phone. Chris played an acoustic guitar in it, but I can't find that video anymore. It must've gotten taken down. Sucks, because that was my favorite version/performance.
@@jeremylilly1054 I've tried finding it a couple of times, but couldn't. Is it the one where they joke about Morgane looking good in a truck before they start singing?
His wife, Morgane, just had their twin boys last April during an awards ceremony he had to miss (and won awards, of course). They have a duet where she sings more, "More of You". It's a sweet love song and they sound amazing, as per usual lol
Yes his wife sings with him and goes on the road with him. She's actually the one that encouraged him to sing and record his own music. He used to just write the songs for many of country's top artists, but she encouraged him to do his own thing.
Chris, has always been a musician and guitar player.....never did consider himself much of a singer (I know right)...but his first gig "for real" out in Nashville, other than some of his other bands, like "The Jompson Bros." (awesome) was a songwriting contract and ol' boy, laid the wood for other artist b4 he decided it was time to do his own thing...he's simply real....like Waylon,Hank Sr.,Willie.,Mr. Cash and many more that had whatever "it" was!....As a songwriter myself, I think all the good stuff is real stories, that have a soul, of it's own, that dwells inside our soul....The pure truth of the matter....do what you know, keep it real....and never adventure far out your waters....dabble....but remain honest.Chris,is just an amazing talent and helped a lot when my grandpa passed.Just a passionate dude, who lived life with passion....that's why Chris, will make hits til he decides he's done writing! Check out....The Jompson Bro's,"On the Run"....it's more outlaw, country,blues....with this whole cowboy gone wrong thing....it's f'n awesome!
Love the vids. Sorry it took me so long to find and subscribe. Keep up the great work and thank you for what you do as far as working in the medical profession and thank you for your stand on God. He does write his own music. He's definitely got soul blues and soul in his music but he's in the country genre. He had a blues band back in the day and was a huge writer for so many country artists then he came out on his own and just swept the nation.
So many people don't realize how much modern country artists were influenced by the blues. The bluesy side of country is where I hang out. I'm so glad I found your channel.
I love watching your reactions! You give such a honest opinion. It's funny how music makes us not pay attention to color. When it comes down to it if we strip our skin off we all the same. I love music and I listen to everything. I use music to escape everything that's wrong with this world. We are all people we all love and die. Why can't we see that?
He does write his on songs. He stsrted out writing for other musicians. One in particular was sung by Prince and Shanade O'Conner. "Nothing compares to you."
Chris was with the Steel Drivers years ago. Take a listen to Blue Side of the Mountain by The Steel Drivers with Chris singing lead vocals. Blue grass with emphasis on blue.
Hello MRM, you should hear Chris and his wife Morgan sing"You are my Sunshine" together you'll see and hear how beautiful she sings too. I love that Chris puts her in the spotlight on this song. Thanks Ty, have a blessed day.
Ok. You’ve hit a lot of my favorite artists....now I new to steer you in Yebba’s direction. Her song “Evergreen” is amazing. She wrote it in memory of her mother.

Day off and binge watching. After your first reaction of Stevie Ray (RIP); I’ve decided to go to the beginning and watch you reactions in chronological order. In this video, I AM SHOCKED...YOU’VE STEREOTYPED COUNTRY! Did not expect that out of you. No Country is not all twangy. Country, like other genres has a base root in the blues, its soul, blues, and the best of all Stories of real life. The singers voice may give you pause but, their voice does not dictate their genre. Chris was once solely a songwriter, then a bluegrass artist leading the Steeldrivers, then a songwriter again until his wonderful wife and singing partner put her foot down and told him to keep his music and sing it himself. Chris is Country.
You want to see Chris Stapleton do country? “Whiskey and You” (ASCAP Awards). Watch! “Parachute” live on SNL. Watch! “Outlaw state of mind”. 2018 Farm Aid Watch!
He has written for several other artists including Adele that took his songs to the tops. Then his wife (Morgane) convinced him to go out on his own. He has hit songs in several genres.
Chris is FREE, he is not imprisoned by a genre or label!!! Only freedom can sound like that.. His voice flies, where it wants flies, his guitar feels what it wants to feel. Chris sings, and plays what he feels like singing and playing. I hope Chris never allow anyone or any label to label and define him. Wrapped him in a limiting box called, color, race, genre.. Use him like a coloring book, stay in the lines. FLY CHRIS, YOU ARE MY MUSICAL EAGLE. YOU TAKE ME PLACES, I CAN'T GO ON MY OWN!!!
I am a new subscriber and really enjoying seeing another open-minded music lover discover new artists/genres. In that vein, I would suggest/request reacting to Pentatonix. They are a 3-time Grammy award winning A capella group that performs covers and original music. Their style runs the gamut from standards, to pop, to classic rock, and even EDM. I will warn you though, they're very addictive once you start. Especially, if you are a fan of "riffs and runs" and harmonies. Which I have noticed you are. At times, you may even forget that all the sounds you hear are coming just from their voices, with the occasional exception of a cello played by Kevin their beat boxer. I'll start you off with a few suggestions from their over 190 YT clips (total of over 3 billion views). Daft Punk (first Grammy for arranging) Hallelujah Imagine Can't Sleep Love (original) Run to You (original) That will get you started. But, be careful of the rabbit hole.
I love your channel man. If you like Chris Stapleton, his early band "The Steel Drivers" are just as good if not better. Two of my favorites from them are "Can you Run", and "Ghosts of Mississippi" I don't think I've heard better music anywhere...

Not sure if you do reactions to Christian songs, but if you do there’s one that I’d love you to listen to. Craig Aven “Your with the Son of God” We lost our son last June and I ran across this song not by accident. It helped us through a lot of firsts without our son. It honestly is one of the most beautiful songs that had ever been written. He also performs it with The Piano Guys. If you pull up the song, it will also bring the video up with them. Something about him singing with them that is magical. God bless

If you like Chris Stapleton's music, you have to listen to ,"Whiskey and you", absolutely one of his best & beautiful songs. Thanks...
Love that song!
In my opinion, whiskey and you is one of the best ways too FEEL what its like inside the mind of an addict
It's funny how the same song can be given different treatments and then sound so different when you compare the Tim McGraw and Chris Stapleton versions, with one having a full production and the other a stripped down bare version.
Absolutely LOVE the Aaron Lewis cover for Whiskey and you!
His cover of Was it 26 is crazy..the man get so much emotion in his voice

CHRIS STAPLETON IS ON POINT WITH EVERY SONG AMAZING! 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎤🎤🎶⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
His wife always sings w/him, except when she had their babies. I knew he was gonna b huge 1st time I heard him sing. Reminds me of some of the good ole boys back in the past, he's country/soul/blues.
His wife is an awesome singer in her own right and backs him up here in this beautiful song.

Lol I like that "Bluntry". He does write his songs. He's been writing songs for alot of big Country artists for a while.

Saw him last November in San Antonio TX. He dedicated this song to the victims of the Vegas shooting.
This song is just beautiful!
he was a song writer for about 10 years before he started doing his own thing. guys pretty great.

He has his own style & when you hear his songs begin, you know who it is.
Love it brother!!! No one else could sing this!!
Thanks brother for the reply.....
He is a country singer, with a blues twist. His voice is a blues voice, so no matter what he sings it is bluesy.
React to Chris Stapleton covering Waylon Jennings "Amanda". Waylon was great, but Chris's tone just adds a lil' something something more.
His song Nobody to Blame is a song he does that sounds more of what people think of when they think of country music sounds
