I have to disagree, because "poison" is a question of DOSAGE ... *Fentanyl gets used IN HOSPITALS ... EVERY DAY ... SAFELY!*
The problem is that STREET MERCHANTS sell stuff that was "cooked up by some idiot" ... and if that idiot gets the dosis wrong by just a bit ... you suddenly end up with twice or three times as much AND AN OVERDOSIS ... [like a certain George F. ... who had more than three times the lethal dosis ... and was showing the sings - NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATHE - before even leaving his own car].
So yeah, Tyrus had some good points BUT HE ALSO MISSED OTHERS!
In the end it comes down to the CDC "cracking down on LEGAL opiates" ... and thus creating the market for ILLEGAL/HOME MADE PRODUCTS. *This is EXACTLY like the PROHIBITION which made the Mafia prosperous ... but american PURITANS must have their ABSOLUTE BANS on stuff.*

Thank god someone has brought up the impact of the war on drugs to pain management patients. As a pain management patient for 13 years, I've been along for the ride from being restricted but allowed up to a maximum safe dose, to a maximum allowable dose based on feelings. I had a medication set that allowed me to be a productive employee, father, and husband. Now, I have to REALLY pick and choose what I do because the sheer amount of pain paid for any action is large. An hour of light yard work can take me down for 12 hours.

I am sorry that you're dealing with that and I understand. My husband and I are both chronic pain patients for over 30 years each. We never had kids - that has to be tough - being a good husband, parent and employee. I have a recognized condition that opioid treatment is recommended for & I had my meds cut 3x - I put my foot down and said no more. If I'm to be productive, I need these meds. I had been a chronic pain patient for 25 years by then & never abused my meds. The doc did the same to my husband, then dumped him after he confronted her about lying to him. She promised to reinstate his meds to their previous levels after the crisis blew over and then refused. She tried harassing him through me. She wouldn't listen. She kept pushing him to get injections - this was after he left his former doc who only did injections, which worsened his condition, to see her. I kept reminding her that he'd been through the injection grind. It fell on desf ears. Thanks to her paranoia and fear, his pain is now debilitating. Thankfully she left the practice. We're seeing a new doc and he's back on pain meds but not enough. I suffer from 2 chronic pain conditions so I have understanding of what he's going through. It's rough seeing him suffer.

Literally the same doctors that managed my pain for years now sneer at me and give me a lecture every time I bring it up. And of course refuse to treat me. I used to have a great and productive life even with the pain, now I just basically do nothing. It sucks. And if I tell those same doctors that it sucks they try to put me on antidepressants. The whole situation is insane. Good luck. I hope the situation gets better for all of us.

IF I have a great day and can be productive, I am down 2-3 days because I overd do it. I take advantage of the situation. I know I should not but I feel like a bum, lazy and a bad wife if I do not jump on the opportunity that is rare. On the other side, I used to work in a pharmacy in the early 2000s and I remember the fentanyl patches for pain. I also remember people cutting them up and taking them siblingually to get high. So the fentanyl crisis has been here for a long time. And it has indeed made it harder for people who need the pain meds to get them. And I, for one, apologize for that effect. Legalizing drugs is a complex issue. I understand Kats point but I think Half the 'players' in this war are bureaucrat's who say one thing but are really disingenuous. We have Law Enforcement that's genuinely concerned but aren't being supported like they need. It's like the Vietnam 'Conflict' that the Generals didn't take very seriously because the Congress wouldn't change the situation to 'War'. Like Emily said, there's more extensive tools available to Law Enforcement & the Judiciary to her point about designating a group as terrorists. To Kats point; it's one thing to pour drugs into your body & that's your choice but, under the influence of the drugs, the person can make a bad choice...like driving a car & possibly inflicting pain on others. I get the impression that both Kat and Tyrus were brought onto the show initially for their comedic quips and change of pace thinking, but the more I hear them giving their honest and serious takes on things like the topic of the "poisoning" of America the more I'd like them to drop the funny and just give their take on issues.
Kat did a good job framing the problem and injecting thought provoking points from her angle, and Tyrus knocked it out of the park (in my opinion) by comparing a serious drug problem to fentanyl poisoning. Kat's right, people aren't going out looking for fentanyl, but are dying when what they're after is laced with it.
I'd love to see these two keep maturing into their own and continue sharing their views on drugs, politics, individual rights, whatever. America needs more examples of the sharing of independent, sometimes opposing views without people getting angry or violent or seeking to silence voices they disagree with. America is, and should be, the place where you can be heard - in the appropriate time and place without fear of self-appointed "thought police" or "fact checkers" shutting you down. I'm in my 50's and I've had over 74 surgeries and 52 just on my hip and knee. 52 Hip and knee replacements due to infections, hardware failures, new experimental devices and several doctor mistakes by putting in the wrong size devices. I've also been in several vehicle accidents and lived a physically straining life that has caused severe back, hand and neck pain. When I lived in Texas I was on 10 pain pills a day because I've built up such a medication tolerance over almost 40+ years. Because I've had so many hop surgerie theres no more bone left. So I have a severe broken pelvis and hip replacement but they don't feel I would survive another surgery. I also have a severe breathing problem because I've been intubated so many times my vocal cords are damaged.
After spending all my saving to stay indoors during 2020 debacle I had to move in to my dads summer home in Arkansas. This town only has one pain management facility. The doctor put me on 2 pills aday because it's the law. 10 to 2. I have never had any issues with my last pain management doctor that I had for 20 years. Living with the pain has turned me in to a bed bound person. It's to painful to get up. I have other major medical issues too. It's not fair but no one said life was fair. I could go onto Hospic care and get more medicine for 6 months. But after 6 months I would get nothing. I might take them up on that. 6 more months with less pain and then, and then, and then. lol. A little joke. I won't beable to live without medicine so I guess it would finally be over. All this misery because our idiot government officials that get everything they need and want with a snap of a figure really dont care. If they did care they would have markers for chronic pain patients that have documented cases of traumatic injuries.

There are also cannabinoids available now that used to only be talked about in research papers 90 years ago. Drug testing could possibly be an issue in this backwards system, but even then there are ones other than THC that can be as good or better. One of them is called THCP, and its like 50x as powerful and can last for 3-4x the duration. I think that stuff mixed with CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC and then some form of THC or HHC, would have amazing potential for treating chronic pain (alongside other general health benefits)

There's the problem, doctor's being afraid of getting punished for prescribing opioids. They leave u with no option but to see a drug dealer. you sacrificed your life for this country now they want you to give them more power to solve the problem they created?

Move somewhere you can get a medical card, PK's and opiates have destroyed many of the men I served with, and though some of them have survived and are rebuilding, not a single one of them who ended up on them is better off for it.

Usmc here brother in Arizona. Chronic knee pain due to service and the VA wont help me out either. Days where im left in bed screaming even after multiple surgeries. My va doctor said i had a minor meniscus tear so i shouldnt be in pain, turns out all of my cartilage was shredded and gout crystals had filled in the joint. I fired my VA doctor after 6 months on not checking up on me or setting an appointment. Weird how you serve this country and cant be taken care of in the most minimal aspects.

I’m a chronic pain patient that watched my Dr leave the medical field all together because of this shear stupidity. After having my pain meds cut from 400mg/ day to 90mg/ day I was one of those that was ignored by everyone else at the clinic where I’d been a patient for over 40 years. Eventually I found a pain clinic and went through all the hoopla again, but was finally put on Buprenorphine for my pain and am now an active member of my family, an active member at work, and for the first time in 18 years an active member of society. I’ve now been on this for my pain for 5 years and it’s wonderful being able to say YES, to just about any questions my kids throw at me.
Dad, wanna play football? YES! Dad, wanna go to Disneyland? YES! I now get to do what I wasn’t able to do for darn near 2 decades, at it a great feeling.
I say all this in hopes that even just one patient in severe pain finds some relief. Transitioning from the prescription I was on to Buprenorphine was difficult, but once re-adapted my life has been FUN. I hope this helps at least one person.

Moving is the key, moving I got off of pain meds merry go round, pharmaceutical crap a decade or more ago! Cold turkey! Was totally nuts but in the end worth every agonizing second! Because I am free of them! Pain there are natural ways!
But I would never doubt your pain! Just how you Handel it!

Thank you for mentioning this... there was a time where overprescribing was a legit concern, but those days are long gone. I am pretty much disabled without pain medication, and now because of the government I cant get any medication or am being forced to take meds that are ineffective. Im a liberal mostly, but I cant deal with this any more. a doctor literallly told me he would rather fill out disability paperwork for me than prescribe me pain medication. Suffering is supposed to be resolved with effective doctoring, but doctors are so scared of the government now. Across the board, medications are being rationed just like we were warned about with obamacare. I wish we could overturn obamacare. I supported it up until I realized it is a huge part of the problem. Most other countries even allow heroin use in the hospital only for pain relief. People don't realize that opiates are just as natural as weed.

I been an addict for 17yrs, the most terrifying thing is them making the fentanyl look exactly like Roxy 30s! Years ago when I was only doing pills, I would look for those anywhere, from anybody, anyway I could find them. And that's what's mainly killing people today, cuz some younger kids might be looking for 1 pill to take at a party or something n then find out its fentanyl, and their tolerance not being that high, means it will instantly Overdose them...its a shame..but they're absolutely right, the lowering of prescription pain relievers didnt help at all with the overdoses...it definitely made it worse...smh

I have been in pain consistently for almost 30 years, the older I get, the worse it gets as more parts of my skeleton break down. Controlling illegal drugs by cracking down on legitimate pain sufferers and their doctors makes as much sense as cracking down on legal law abiding gun owners to stop criminals who commit crimes with illegal guns.

Kat, you should be given your own show. Today was excellent! About China and fentanyl, people who live in China are sending this drug here, yes? The entire nation of China is not doing this. Also, the drug dealers are ordering the fentanyl and using it to beef up other drugs.

    • @berryfin4648
      @berryfin4648 Год назад +1

No, China is not sending it for free. Someone needs to order them and pay for it, mostly Mexican cartels.
China outlaw fentanly back in 2014. Anyone caught selling it gets the dead penalty.
And the cartels can also get them from USA.

A lovely side effect of the fentanyl and opioid drugs crossing our borders and entering in cargo containers from China is that those of us who used to benefit from low dose Vicodin and other pain management drugs are denied these medications and treated like heroin addicts by doctors. Governmental, legal, and insurance pressures make physicians afraid to prescribe pain medications leaving people to suffer needlessly.

Thank you Kat for shining the light on this!!! There are so many of us out here who, not by choice, have to use pain medication because we simply don’t have any other options! WE ARE IN PAIN!!! And we are treated worse than junkies who OD!!! They get free narcan to the rescue but we get treated like infants! I’m 57 years old and in chronic pain because I was hit and run over by a speeding car! I’ve had multiple surgeries and I’m left in PAIN. Every day. It doesn’t stop. But thanks to the government who think they know better than my doctor I can’t get the meds that I need to live a productive life! Something needs to change! Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been shouting this from the rooftop! (Apparently the wrong roof tho 🤷🏻‍♀️) I just wanted to say THANKS Kat! Much love ✌🏼😊
