  • TASMANIA"S guide to the very best of Western Tassie. Discover Tasmania's Wilderness and why it is still a true adventure.
It's the second week in Tasmania and still I am absolutely stunned by its beauty. Leaving the small town of Burnie headed West, suddenly the pace of the city relaxed into a comfort quilted panel of green pastures and rolling hillsides. And before too long the salty town of Stanley was on the horizon. A trip to the nut and all was revealed.
Not much later and setting up in the free camp of Tall Trees in Smithton and a top up of supplies from the local Woolies and the next adventure was ready to be consumed.

Great stuff Paul, looks like you're having a blast, got to love those mossy forests....also if you get the chance go to Bruny Island, just lovely, it's a short barge ride across but well worth the trip. Safe travels and carry on enjoying the adventures...I'm jealous !!!

Hey Paul, it's been several years since we were in Tassie but love the Arthur River area and the North West of Tassie. We have done the cruise on the river a few times and the boat back then was called MV Robertson. The lunch they put on was excellent too. We want to get back down there sometime and explore the North East part of the island next time.

Great video, we visited Tassie for 2 weeks over December and returning this year in the van. Strahan (west coast) was beautiful, there is a great little play each night at the Info centre, highly recommended. Also, Sarah island - penal island out of Strahan - interesting. Queenstown was amazing scenery also. Enjoy

One suggestion I have is that when you go on a track or road, show us a map with the road marked, so we can get an idea where in tassy you are located and where the track or road to and from. Just an idea , enjoying the videos, love tassy, wish I could visit more often

At the Black river camp ground you can get free oysters at low tide. Just walk a cross the river.
