I'm impressed with how fast you picked up their style. 99% of listeners just hear the vocals. They're important but they're really not their focus. It's always been the guitars that do the singing. What the vocals do is to create that "call to arms" anthemic epic vibe. It's music that lights a fire under your but, use it in the gym or whatever, and make faster progress. They have a huge discography too. You've covered 2017-2022 but they go back another 20 years. 😊
As you seem to love this kind of melancholic guitar sound, go and listen "Mourn" by great finnish band Sentenced. It's a masterpiece by their guitarist and songwriter Miika Tenkula (R.I.P Legend). That man gave his heart to that song. It' song I want to be played in my funeral.
I'm with you on the guitars, Boudy. Great EQing so they blend well, and the solo tones are so sweet! Plus, the players are accurate as all get-out. As much as I love Angela's intensity, Alissa has such precise diction while growling that I can usually get the lyrics in one listen. What an amazing band! You are right about the two dueling guitars. It is profound thing of the band and Michael Amott is master of composing the most beautiful melodies.
