The National Weather Service issued a flood warning until 1 a.m. Sunday for the Chagrin River near Chardon Road and Willoughby where an ice jam was reported.
30 years ago I was going to buy the last house on that street and when the realtor met me had a picture of all the furniture frozen to the ceiling inside from years earlier when it flooded out like that.
My wife, who’s 60, told me that when she was a kid people talked about folks living by the Chagrin river having block and tackle on their ceilings to raise the furniture because they flooded so often. She says now she doubts the truthfulness of that, but you never know…
