Nice books. Those are some beauties. I'm gonna be on the watch for some more Golden Age books this year. Watched a few of your videos recently, including the Silver Age CGC unboxing. You had a lot of gems in that set of books. I also appreciate finding more collectors who aren't just focused on the value, "hot" books and finding and discussing comics strictly for reselling. So cheers for that. And keep rocking. Happy comic hunting!
I'm glad you are digging the channel! My Golden Age book journey started just about a year ago, and I'm hooked. They are so whimsical and fun, I love them. I appreciate the comment and feedback, I'm so new to this and it's great to know someone is appreciating the content. It's really just for fun and connecting with people. I hope to see your golden age books as they grow!
Amazing high-grade GA books! Liked the Gaines file copy because of the awesome pre-code horror cover. I was thinking about dipping my toe in this genre, but low-grade raw copies only because of their steep prices. Thanks also for sharing some interesting history or relevance about these old books. 😊
I definitely love picking up low grade copies of EC books. They still present well, and there are lots of them out there. The excitement you get thinking about who first bought that book in the '50s and read it over and over, and knowing the books changed the industry is a cool living vicarious feeling. Sorry for rambling, but I hope you pick up some old EC books! Find them at a con and negotiate the hell out of them for a good price.
I'd keep the Superman as is. It won't be anymore Superman with a press, it just gives a grade bump. If it's going to hit an 8.0, sure. But it's really cool in the current state. I'd keep it untouched.
That's the feedback I definitely need, thank you. Next I need to know whether I should have the restoration removed from Batman 171 and risk the lower grade. Keep it a 5.5 purple label? Or resubmit and have them remove resto and maybe get a 3.0 blue?
I’m curious, when you say that those well-graded 40s comics are not that expensive, what kind of general price range are they? If you want to give that info, of course.
Hello! Great question, actually! That Whiz comics #34 is probably worth under $400. It's from 1942 and an 8.0! In comparison an Action Comics from 1942, like #50, in an 8.0 would go for $3k in my estimation. Probably even more. That WOW Comics #50 is probably just over $400. So the books aren't CHEAP, but they are great ways to get some really nice golden age books without selling your car.
@@SwarmofComics Thanks for the reply! As I am totally not knowledgeable about serious comic collecting, it’s good to know what amounts are normal/expected. Not cheap as you say, but for a collectibles market it could be way crazier. Looking forward to your future hauls!
That's a great question! I think for the most part people can find reprints pretty easily to read these old stories. But the fact is, they are pretty awful story-wise. Most people collect for the key first appearances of characters we love, and for the beautiful covers.
@@SwarmofComics yea it's just sometimes specially when it comes to golden age books, cleaning does nothing for the grade, where talking dirt and grime that's been there for 80 years. If you're lucky you will crack it clean it just for it to come back the same grade, or even worse it can come back lower. The risk is just too much. sometimes the comic comes back the grade that it does because of mitigating factors that have nothing to do with how dirty it is, which will always keep it at a certain grade no matter what. For example detached cover/CF pieces from cover missing of a certain size , rips tears, spine splits, stains and so on. Trust me all I collect, buy and clean is golden age
@@jonathanloera6830 oh, and that's EXACTLY why I'm too chicken to ever do it. I am not the brave little toaster. My luck I'd f**** it all up and make it a 1.5 😆
Bravo my friend. Just awesome. Enjoyed the upload 1000000000%
Thank you so much, I'm happy other people are enjoying them. I know I'm having fun with it.
As always, great video! Some super sick books you have got going on in your collection. Keep rockin bro!
Thank you, I love that I can share them with people who appreciate them. I love my wife, but she doesn't want to hear about my comic books 😄

That era, I'd get it removed. Only if that strobing purple label drawing your eyes constantly to it...bothers you.
I was wondering if that Tales from the Crypt made this list!
Ha! It had to, that's a gem I'll never be able to match, and peak golden age goodness!

Is anybody making a video of the comice before they get slabbed so you can actually read them once they are closed up.

Sell me that supermam #9 before you do something crazy and crack it out. Thats a good grade for a golden age.
Ha! If you ever saw how dirty it is you'd want to crack it too!!
