A journey to the shores of town, For supplies of sustenance. But encounters of stores, For sewing desires and makes. Tracks around for sightseeing town, Before heavy packs laden. Wandering walk back uphill, To home for a while and rest. For Chris and Carole take to hills, Old and worn from time lost. Chalky county holds their view, Across this land of Dorset.
Oh Babbra. I'm just about to reply to my comments but just spotted this one and just had to reply straight away! Oh my word, that is fantastic! "Heavy packs laden" no truer word was said 😂. The end is stunning 🥰 I have to ask, did you write this? X
@@socarole66 Hi Carole, yes I did write it. After you said about Wordsworth I was inspired to put something together. Glad you like it 🥰. Enjoy your weekend.
Congratulations, 🎉 Carole, 6k, well deserved. Can't wait to hear what you think of sewing sewcial. Love watching pics from your walks Beautiful makes as always. Pity the navy fabric is not nice. I totally get how easy it is to get distracted by lovely print :) Have a wonderful weeo
Hi Agata! I had a great time at the sewcial and discovered 3 new pattern companies to me locally. Everyone was so friendly so I am booked on again. I am going to wear that navy top and put up with it! It will at least keep me warm in Winter 😆. Hope you have a good week too 🧵😊
Thanks for another lovely, friendly and informative vlog Carole. Always learn something from you. Congratulations on reaching 6k, very well deserved. 🎉
Hi Carole! The good ol‘ chamois leather. I remember the days! So many lovely things you’ve sewn. That is a beautiful table runner for Christmas. Love the green with gold effect. The trials and tribulations of buying fabric online 😅 My sons use GPT chat. It’s amazing and so was your poem! Congratulations on hitting 6000👏👏Have a good week 🧵👍
Thanks so much Amanda. I didn't realise until after the video that my husband still had a chamois leather in the garage 😂. Weren't those fabrics for the table runner perfect for Christmas? I must admit I am really pleased with that Subscription box, I have never been disappointed. My Son also uses GPT chat to help him write work presentations, scary as it is, it is the future! I can't believe I have made 6k, honestly I really appreciate you all. Hope you have a good week too. x🧵😊
I will only wear something if the Fabric is good. My textile intolerance won't let me. I am looking for fine needle cord fabric at the moment! I love all your plans for presents, and I love it when you find surprising fabric shops. Love the fabrics you got. Love the history lesson, and your poem is so cute.
Oh Katinka, I do hate the idea of wasted fabric and that top looks so pretty, I will wear it a couple of times to see how I get on. It serves me right for not paying attention to the fabric label! Wasn't the poem clever? Although if you checked the comment I have pinned by BYBabbra, he actually wrote that poem for me, how wonderful is that? Thanks so much for watching and chatting with me 🧵😊x
6k!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 woohoooo that is just wonderful! Huge congrats! I can’t stop laughing at the chamois fabric! That brings me back to cleaning the car when I was a teenager to get pocket money 😂😂😂 so sorry it didn’t work out as the pattern actually looks really great on you! And the binding 😍😍😍 The towel idea is really great! And your poem is wonderful! Thanks for sharing another great vlog ❤❤❤
6k !! I know, who would believe it eh? What I realised after I filmed the video was that Chris still has a chamois leather in the garage, I should have just made the top from that 😂😂. You do realise all the people that are binding their necklines now due to your video? See how inspiring you are to us?! Please tell me you have seen round towels before, none of my US viewers knew anything about them so it must be a European thing. Oh that poem, Chris and I could only make up limericks...."There once was a couple from Dorset. etc".... 😂😂 Thank goodness A I came to our rescue! Hope you are having a great week and thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
The Christmas quilt top is beautiful. Stunning fabric. I like making fun little projects also for quilting. I like your microfiber top. I know the fabric is not perfect but it looks good on you and fits you so well. Sewing Socials are great! I am in 2 quilt groups but I like them for the social part. I do charity sewing with them a couple of times a month. I think you will enjoy this monthly gathering. I want to hear about it. I need to start making Christmas gifts soon. I usually start in November. The towel idea is great. You are going to have a lot of fun embroidering! Have a great weekend Carole! 🥰😍
Oh Grace I remember you did an awesome table runner and wasn't it all on your embroidery machine? I had such fun at the Sewing Social today and I met a couple of viewers, I had no idea I had anyone local watching!! They were all so lovely and friendly, I can't wait to go again. I've started making my gifts early this year as we are away in November and most weekends. I got too stressed last year and my idea this year was to build up a supply! I still can't think what to embroider on Katie's towel but it will have to be Disney whatever it is 😂. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a wonderful week in your lovely sewing room 💗😘🧵
Thanks for sharing that lovely scenery! BTW, I use that double brushed poly from JoAnn for winter pajamas and love it! The pajamas feel so soft against my skin, and the pajamas are warm and cozy for winters in Michigan.
Thank you so much for watching and I am so glad you enjoyed the pictures. Normally I love DBP but this stuff I think must have been microfibre instead, I wish I had looked at the label! Have a good week 🧵😊
Shame about the fabric nice top though your a sweetie doing those skirts for your mum such a good find with the fabric happy days have a great week 😊😊😊😊
Thanks Robyn, my Mum used to be a keen sewist years ago but at 87 just doesn't have the inclination for it. As I said to someone else, I wonder if I will still be sewing at her age?! Thanks for watching as ever 🧵😊
Looks like you hit 6K - congratulations! The table runner looks great - you can be a "small quilter" 😁! I only do small things - the thought of doing something like a bedcover is intimidating - it's bigger than I am! Love the floral fabric from that shop you stumbled onto - looks like it will be like a warm hug when you get it made up.
Thanks Mary, I did reach my milestone 😁. I like the thought of being a 'Small Quilter', I am happy with that! I cannot imagine trying to do a quilt on my small armed machine, I remember doing that jigsaw quilt a couple of years ago and that was a real squeeze, never again. Hope you have a great sewing week and thanks for watching 🧵😊
Oooh yes I could use it for Autumn as it is only deers and trees...good shout! It was such fun to make though and much easier than I thought. I always think on a project like that....scary, I will not be able to do it and then I do and feel all smug with myself 😂. Thanks so much for watching xx
Looks like you made the 6K, congrats. You are so delightful to watch, I will always be subscribed. I live in the USA & have never seen a round kitchen towel, such a cute idea. Your pics at end are just stunning, what a lovely walk. In fact, my hubby & I are getting ready for our morning hike in the mountains. I live 5300ft high. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments and yay, I did make the 6k!! I am obviously going to have to explain the towel a bit more as all my US comments have said the same thing, they have never seen that type of towel before! It must be a European thing as they came from France and Spain. The idea is you don't continually use the same piece of towel to dry your hands like you tend to on a flat towel on a rail. I so envy you living in the mountains, we only have hills where we live. Which state do you live in? 🧵😊
@@socarole66 I live in the center of Arizona, in Prescott. We are still desert but with a lot of pine trees. Our mountains are beautiful forests of pine trees, they survive better up here. I love Britain because of the greenery. We have rocks for our yard along with 9 pine trees of various types. We try not plant anything that is not indigenous to our area. Thank you for asking.
What a lovely area to hike in ! The top is very pretty but I know what you mean about poly fabric, I don't like the sheen but it is a plastic product so maybe it just goes with it. . The towels are a great idea . It was serendipity for you to find that fabric shop, what a lovely surprise. Have a wonderful week !
Thank you so much for your comment. The fabric is so strange, I really should have taken more notice of what it was but I will certainly wear it and see how it goes and washes. It was so lovely to come across the fabric shop and it was a family run business which makes it even better, roll on the next time we go there! Have a wonderful week too 🧵😊
Thanks so much for your comment Ruth. I have so many Big 4 I do like to use them but I also have a few Indie patterns as well. I wish there were more channels using the Big 4 as well, especially the UK channels as we all need inspiration don't we! 🧵😊
Yippeeee!!! I know its silly but I really wanted to tip over into the next thousand. Thanks so much for continuing to subscribe to me, I am sure you were one of the first! 💗💗
@@socarole66 Hey Carole!!! I was an early subscriber, but don't know how early. All I remember is how quickly your videos looked like you had been making and posting them for years. You are a true natural, and I'm sure that most, if not all, of your 6K subscribers would agree. 🥰
6K! 🎉 The jewelry pouches are adorable! How wonderful to find a fabric shop when you weren’t looking for it! 👍 I wish I could find a sewing social near me! Great poem and , of course, the beautiful countryside pictures are so inspiring! Take care! 🥰🥰
Thanks Nancy, I do love hitting round numbers! It won't be long before you reach it either. I suppose it was typical to find a fabric shop when I wasn't able to buy much either! Ah well, I know where it is now. Have a great week 🧵😊
@@socarole66 it's always exciting to hit that next milestone isn't it? Yes round numbers are great. We would be so excited to hit 6K. To be fair we will be excited to hit 2K 😂 xxx
Aww I hope she feels the same! She used to sew as well but just hasn't the inclination now, mind you at 87....I am not sure I will either! Have a lovely weekend xxx
Hi Carole, great video! Congratulations on reach 6k! We were thinking as you told the story about walking to the fabric shop that you might have filled your backpack with fabric and not bothered to get the groceries!!! That is what we would have done! ~ Samantha & Caitlin Xx
Ha ha that's so funny! What kind of a wife would that have made me as my husband toiled away back at the holiday home 🤣🤣. I did buy a little less though will admit 😉. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
Congratulations on 6000! What an achievement! I love that table runner, it’s so Christmasy. Too late, Carole, you’re a quilter, those little projects will grow and grow until you are covered in big projects, don’t fight it! Sewing socials are something I would really love to participate in, but sadly, there are none close to me. That reflective fabric will be excellent on jackets for all of you. Lovely pictures, I think you are also a photographer. Take care and enjoy your week 😊
Ha ha Sue, your quilting comment 😂. So....when is one officiallyI a Quilter? I mean I have done two quilts now and finished that 3rd one. In my mind you can't qualify to be a Quilter unless you do a full on bed sized quilt! That is something that will never happen with my machine 😂. I really enjoyed the Sewcial today despite being so nervous in not knowing anyone, everyone was so lovely and talented. I think it is easy to take good photos now with these fancy phones, I remember my Dad used to have all these special lenses and know about aperture etc. I just point and click most of the time! I am glad they turn out ok anyway and you enjoy them. Have a great week and yes...I am still fighting the Quilt Bug! 🧵😊
@@socarole66 , nope, you don’t have to make full sized bed quilts to be a quilter! Quilting anything qualifies you. Fight it all you want, but you are definitely a quilter! Welcome to the club!🧵🪡
I loved hearing about Woodsworth and seeing your nature photos. I'm hoping to get a hike in tomorrow. It's been a busy week at the office, and it will be wonderful to get outdoors. I like the looks of your new top, but I understand about the fabric. If something doesn't feel right, it is not fun to wear. I enjoyed seeing your other makes and hope you have a great weekend of sewing.
Thanks Cynthia. I hope you managed to get your hike in? The weather this weekend has been wonderful but we have been too busy to go for a walk! I think that fabric must have been microfibre to be honest, interesting I have another comment by someone and they say they have used it and its horrible too!! Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊xx
I have just come back Linda and it was wonderful! I was so nervous though before I went. Everyone was lovely and I got to know of 3 more fabric shops in my area! Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
The top is pretty. I love the pattern. I cannot handle the feeling of double brushed poly (any polyester actually) against my skin. I enjoy tagging along on your walks.
Thank you so much for your comment. I can just about do DBP but this is different altogether. I will wear it a couple of times to see how I feel in it. Thank you for sharing my walks too! 🧵😊
Beautiful photos Carole. Life is too short to wear a shirt that feels icky. Repurpose it into little makeup bags or a tote. You'll still enjoy the print but you won't have to wear it! Finding gems like the fabric shop is so exciting, I look forward to a post and tour of it on one of your vlogs. 😉
Thanks so much Rita. You are right in a way about the top but I will wear it a couple of times and maybe it will grow on me! If not as you say, it could easily be repurposed. The fabric shop was such a lucky find and they mend sewing machines as well, in case I ever get into trouble whilst on holiday! Thanks for watching and have a good week 🧵😊
The little credit/gift card wallets are adorable. I think I'll line them with RFID fabric. The towels are a great idea, too. I live near Seattle, in Washington state, U.S., and have never seen them in a shop/store.
Thank you so much for your comment. I had no idea you could buy RFID fabric and just looked that up! I will definitely mention that if I do a sew along. Other people have said they haven't seen those towels in the US so it must be a European thing. All the ones I have are from France and Spain to be honest. They are great though as you never seem to wipe your hands on the same spot of the towel like you tend to do on a normal flat towel on a rail. 🧵😊
Thanks for watching. I don't mind DBP (not as nightwear though!) but this is different all together and it was only when I started sewing I noticed it. I will still wear it though as I am sure it will keep me warm! 🧵😊
Hi Carole❤ If I could subscribe again I would!! That top is pretty but sounds like it had to have been mislabeled- the idea of you drying your car with your shirt😂😂! What a beautiful table runner, and I agree on small projects- those are fun to quilt! So many awesome gift ideas! And you found a fabric store? 🎉The pictures are sooooo pretty and that poem is cute❤ Have a great sewing week!!Xx❤❤
Hi Mary!! Ummmmm I can't blame the label as do you know, I don't think I ever do look at the content of anything 😂. I just thought, oh that's smooth and cosy I'll have that! That is my lesson for the future. Wasn't that poem awesome? Chris uses ChatGPT a lot for work, I find it both scary and clever at the same time. Hope you have a great weekend and week ahead xx💗
We call it shammy too! I think there's even one of those "seen on tv" brands called a shammy. But I see what you mean about it feeling plastic-ish. Cute top though! Love the one you're wearing. As you were talking about the table runner, I thought about how much I like it because you like it. What a difference it would make in my life if I started basing whether or not I like something handmade based on the excitement of whomever made it. We're like that with children, aren't we? Why should it stop there? I do love that skirt pattern for your mum. I need to pick that up at the next sale. And your little jewelry pouch - I've seen that before when you've made them and I don't know why I haven't. I could use that when I travel! I'm always trying to prevent necklaces from tangling, so that might be a good solution. I'll put that in my brain for later. Your little towel is such a great idea. I have some that hang on my oven door made from a potholder and a dishcloth, but honestly I really like yours because there's more towel to catch to wipe my hands on, plus I can use old towels to make it! The only trick (easily solved I'm sure) would be to get the loop to hang on the bar. But if I made it big enough, I probably could just loop the towel through it. Problem solved! A surprise fabric store. Could you just send some of the people who have those over here? I'd love to find a hidden one. Maybe Trish and I should just come visit yours. Loved the poem 😁❤😘
The fabric was so strange, if you are passing JoAnns at some point and see it, please let me know what the fabric label said 😆. That skirt pattern is a really good one as the view I made for myself and Mum has really deep pockets set into the skirt panels with a nice band at the top. I have made a few of them and I don't wear skirts!! You are right about the loop for the towel if you had to hang it through a handle. You could always do a wider loop in two parts with a button to secure it... your idea is easier though. You and Trish need to get your passports sorted and take a trip over here! I can imagine you both arriving at Heathrow to screaming British FS RUclipsrs like celebrities 🤩. You would have to hire a huge venue to speak to your fans. One day I dream of showing you Dorset in all its beauty 💗. Have a great weekend and if you like the poem, check out the comment BYBabbra made, he actually wrote a poem. xxx💗
Yay, 6K!! So sorry your top didn't work out. I recently made a top that I had to give away because the fabric was too scratchy. But yes, I guess you could always use it to dry your car. Your table runner is gorgeous. I love the fabric. It is so pretty. Great job. My oven mitts are still in progress. I did all the quilting and now all I have left is to do the binding. I also finished the Christmas dress for my youngest granddaughter who just turned one. The fabric is stiped like a candy cane. Today I am going to make a plaid flannel shirt for my grandson. I'm hoping to get lots of sewing done this week. Have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing all your makes.
I made it to 6k, it was worth my awkwardness asking for subs wasn't it 🙈. You are so busy in the sewing room at the moment, a dress, mitts, a shirt?! Wow, you are a machine! It was a shame about that fabric, I wish I had looked better at what it actually was, you live and learn. I hope the mitts turn out well for you, I still haven't made the pair for my daughter but I am trying to get hold of some Disney Ariel fabric for her! Have a good week and thanks so much for sticking with my channel and always being there xx🧵😊
Isn't it very clever, albeit very scary! It captured our walk just perfectly. However, look at one of the comments I got yesterday by BYBabbra, he has written a poem for us without the use of AI!! Have a great week 🧵😊
That is a fabulous table runner, that will look very pretty with all the Christmas things! ❤ I agree with one of my fellow commenters, that doesn't look like double brushed poly.... any brushed fabric wouldn't have a shine to it. You're very right, it does look lovely on your dress form, you can always just keep it there. 😘 A chamois would need to be absorbent 😆 Have a great weekend!
Thanks so much Lynn, I can't wait for Christmas now! I so wish I had checked the fabric label in JoAnns to see what that was, maybe someone will see it and recognise it and tell me! The shine is strange but I guess that is the print on top of the fabric. I will see how it wears anyway after a couple of washes...if not... into the car cleaning equipment it goes 😆. Have a good weekend too 🧵😊
I love all the gift ideas. I shall be stealing that towel idea! I can’t embroider on it, but I could appliqué and I think that would make awesome gifts for the ladies in my family. I’m so excited that you hit 6K whatever you’re doing, keep doing it because it’s working!your fans adore you.!!! I know I do!❤❤ I am jealous that you’re going to the Canaries. Are you sure you can’t adopt me?😂
I think I have lost count of the times you have asked me to adopt you!! I keep saying yes but you never come over 😂. We need to go to the Canaries to get the warmth and sunshine though, you have it year round and try to escape it! Those towels are brilliant for the kitchen or bathroom as the idea is you don't keep wiping on the same bit of the towel like you would if it was a flat towel over a rail. So simple, if you can draw a big circle you are good to go! Now get yourself on a plane!! 😂. Have a good week and hope you continue to get better xxxx💗
« I can use it as a chamois! » 🤣 I’m so sorry the top’s fabric is unpleasant because the top itself really does look great! You did a fabulous job with the table runner. It’s going to look really good on your holiday table. Love the gift ideas! Sorry you missed the sewcial last week, but how cool to have found one near you. Can’t wait to see next week’s video!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Xx 💞
Do you know Izzy, I really enjoyed doing that Table Runner (once all the horrid little pieces were cut out!!). I would happily do another but I really wasn't sure how to quilt it. What would you have done? I would have messaged you but I knew you were partying last weekend 😂. I don't know anyone at this Sewcial so I do hope they are nice, I am so stressed about what to take to make though 😂. What if they are all experts and I turn up with something like a T shirt to make?! Thanks so much for watching as ever and I hope you enjoy your calm and peaceful weekend xxx💗
@@socarole66 You know, I’ve been a quilter for years and I still don’t love the cutting out part 🤣 So darn tedious!! I like to do really dense quilting on table runners because I love for them to be flat. You could do a grid with the lines about 1 cm apart either straight up and down or on the diagonal (I love that!). No one is going to care what you’re sewing at the sewcial - they are just going to love meeting you!!
Hi Carole. It’s so good to see your #Fridaysews. The top is lovely… but, the texture is always so important to me as well. The gift ideas are so inspiring. The towel is something I would like to make. The photos are so beautiful and the poem was amazing. I had no idea AI could do that… any kind of “I” would be a big help to me. Have a great weekend. ❤ Diann
Hi Diann! Thanks as ever for your kindness. That towel is so simple to make, I don't know why I haven't ever thought of copying it before! I use them in my kitchen rather than drying hands on a tea towel. A I is very clever but at the same time terrifying as these days you don't know who or what is genuine anymore, we still are though aren't we 😂. No A I would make the mistakes I do!! Have a great week and happy sewing 💗🍓x
Lovely table topper Carole! I know what you mean about your top but it looks great and it will keep you cosy 😉super little gifts, very creative especially the towels. Have a great weekend.
Thank you so much, I can't wait for Christmas now to use it! You are right about the top, it certainly is warm...no vest needed under that 😥. Hope you have a good weekend too 🧵😊
Your top looks lovely although I can understand your qualms about the texture. A fabulous table runner. Lucky you finding a new fabric shop. I’m betting you’ll visit it again on one of your weekends. Have a great sewing week, Pat
Thank you so much Pat, that table runner was such fun to make. Of course I will visit that fabric shop again 😂. The sad thing is we only have one more weekend down at the holiday home before we have to shut it up for Winter, but come March I will be back in there for sure! Have a great sewing week too 🧵😊
Loved the table runner! Great job and the fabric is beautiful. I do think you are in great danger of becoming a quilt addict (sneaks up on you...just saying). Before that, I see a larger capacity embroidery machine in your future....you have really become an expert. The fabric store near your holiday home and sewing social near your home were joyful finds....I can totally relate. Thanks as always for the photos at the end of your videos....they bring peace and serenity to the soul.
Ha ha so many of you think I am going to become a quilt addict 😆. Now as to your suggestion of a larger embroidery machine...yes! I realise after having mine for 18 months that I do use it but get so frustrated with the small hoop. I am so glad you still enjoy the photos, I never get bored of taking photos and that beautiful tune that IMovie lets me use! Have a great weekend and thanks for watching 🧵😊
I love the table runner and your top though I get what you mean about the fabric. It does look great though. Re your diary may I suggest investigating you phone calendar. Mine is a google one but I use it all the time. You can set multiple reminders, search for things you've done in the past, put in recurring appointments, even invite people to attend events or appointments with you. So good. Thanks again for the chat.🤗
Hi there, thanks so much for your comments. Oh I do try and use my phone calendar and alarms, I even sit down now and again and sync the two, I don't think there is any hope for me! Maybe that should be my new years resolution for 2025. Have a great weekend 🧵😊
Hi Carole! The table runner is really nice; great job!! What a cute "Ode to Chris & Carole" poem. I would print that out, frame it and hang it on the wall!! LOLOLOL...
Thank you so much Deb, you are brilliant at table runners and mats aren't you. I realise now how much fun they are! I do need to print out that poem but since then, have a look at my pinned comment by BYBabbra, he wrote that himself! Have a wonderful week and hope all is well with you and William is now better. xxx
Congratulations on hitting 6 thousand subscribers 👍 I’m confident you will continue to get more subscribers your videos are great 🎉 it’s a shame you made a lovely top and the fabric isn’t great but it is lovely print. Love all your gift ideas. Enjoy the Sunday
Thank you Sandra, I really appreciate your kindness about my videos. The only real way we know we are doing anything right is reading comments like yours! I will definitely give that top a couple of wears and I am sure it will keep me warm if nothing else 😂. I had a brilliant time at the Sewcial today so I am so glad I went. Have a good week 🧵😊
Hi Carole, shame about that Shammy top. It does look so very nice but as you say, it may come in handy when the car needs a clean. As for that fabric shop, I have been there and it is a brilliant shop. Went there about 3 or 4 years ago and was amazed at how much stuff they had to offer. Yes I did buy a couple of pieces. The town is also really nice and a great way to spend a day just slowly wandering about. Congrats on hitting the 6k subscribership. Enjoy your weekend ☺
Hi Babbra, finally getting around to comments! I can't believe you have also been to that shop in Bridport, it really is a hidden gem isn't it and so large. They even mend and service machines there which is good to know. Bridport has a great selection of shops doesn't it especially the charity shops. Lots of independent shops which is such a refreshing change, a real old market town. Once again thank you so much for the poem, I pinned your comment to the top so all could see, hope you don't mind. Have a good week! 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Hi Carole, Pinning poem is a lovely idea, thanks. Bridport is a hidden gem and just reminds me of the sea and great little shops. There is a great little farm shop just out of town to the north. I thoroughly enjoyed my time when I was there. I may have to return to that shop some day. Enjoy your week 🙂
Oh how thrilling to just stumble upon that lovely shop. Sorry about the "Shammy" top but it is pretty. I hate those printed fabrics that stretch out white on you. I have a few pieces of those myself.
It was such a bonus to find that fabric shop and they were all so lovely in there. I will wear the 'shammy' top on winter days as it is quite warm! I really should have looked more carefully at that fabric before I bought it, what was I thinking?! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Bummer about the top, Carole! You’re right - it does look lovely, and we would never know the fabric feels like chamois! I love the jewelry pouch you made me! They are wonderful gifts, as are the other things you showed! What is the round towel used for? Kitchen towels? I’m haven’t seen those before. Fab job on the table runner! You ARE a quilter! Have fun at the sewcial this weekend! 😘💗
Thanks so much Andra, I need someone to track that fabric down again in JoAnns and tell me exactly what it was! I thought I had seen those towels in the US but I will admit, I think mine all came from France. I use them in the kitchen for drying hands after washing instead of using a tea towel (dish cloth?). I also hang them on the bathroom doors. The idea is you aren't just drying your hands on the same bit over and over like a flat towel. Am I a quilter? I keep wondering what actually makes and qualifies one to be a Quilter. In my eyes it has to be someone who has done a full bed quilt and that will never happen! Best wishes my friend and hopefully chat on Tuesday, take care xxx💗
The double brushed poly looks like scuba I received some in a fabric bundle and I just can’t imagine ever wearing it, it was thin scuba and drapey but no, not for me! I do wonder if they are related fabrics. Lovely table runner, I think I have caught the quilting bug 😂 I haven’t made a garment for a couple of weeks! I’ve made the makeup bags but let them open flat hoping my daughters would use them! Lovely update, thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks so much for your comment. I have worked with scuba before and this is much thinner but it does possess the same qualities, I wonder? Sometimes we like a break from garment sewing don't we, I did enjoy doing the table runner and all the little things I made this week. I am glad you had fun making bags! Enjoy your weekend 🧵😊
Your mum’s skirt is very cute. Definitely worth taking the waistband off and altering. That reflective fabric will be great for the kids’ jackets. Those wallets could also be used for business cards for plumber, electrician, etc. I have never seen a round towel like you showed. How would you use it?
Thanks Christine. I was going to just feed elastic through that one but I thought no....make the effort!! I have a few of those round towels, mostly bought from France so perhaps it is a European thing. I hang them in the kitchen for when you just want to wipe your hands after washing rather than use the dish cloth to dry them. You can also use them on the back of a bathroom door etc. Have a great week 🧵😊
Oh the pleasure of unexpectedly coming across a fabric shop. 👏. I have visions in my head of you walking round in a yellow chamois 😂. Shame you didn't like the feel of the fabric. Rachael's way of binding the back is lovely though isn't it. I bought a remnant pack from The Specky Seamstress which I use in the back of my t-shits (although I have now signed up for a 3 month subscription). Love the table runner too.
Oh Ann, I went to the Sewcial today and have now discovered 3 more fabric shops in my area! I will have no money left at this rate or storage space 😂! That was the benefit of meeting local sewists and I am so glad I went. I just don't know about bought binding... I know a lot of people like the Specky Seamstress Bindings, am I missing out? I hate the feel of the binding you buy in shops, it is always like cardboard hence I try and make it instead. At the moment I just use jersey scraps for my T shirts but they aren't as pretty as Rachaels! Thanks so much for watching and I love that I can now see what you have been sewing on Instagram. When are you starting your channel?! 🧵😊
@@socarole66 I know what you mean about some bias binding, all horrid and scratchy. Speckyseamstress is not a bit like that, it's lovely and soft. Definitely worth giving it a try. I won't be starting a RUclips channel despite various friends and hubby thinking that I should. I really don't think anything I do will be that exiting or isn't already covered by someone already. My hubby has a RUclips channel and I see the amount of work he puts into it. Not sure it's really for me. 😂
@ gosh I didn't know your husband had a RUclips channel, I'm guessing not sewing though! You will know then, how much work it is but I love doing it so much, it's opened up such a new life for me 🥰
Hi Carole! Oh, how I wish I could re-subscribe to help push you over the 6K mark. No doubt you'll reach your goal by the end of the day (in the US). Really like the jumper you made and are wearing in your video. Just stumbled upon the video where you show the fabric and your plan to make it. I'd not seen that video and realized that you posted it during my drive from California to Florida. Was so overwhelmed with getting moved in and such that I forgot to see what I missed! Had to be careful with my phone battery level that week because I was using it to navigate during the drive and didn't have a car charger for it. Was a nice surprise that I got to watch an extra So Carole today. What a great find of the fabric shop near your holiday home!!! Yes, next time you'll need the car! While I understand your disappointment of missing the one sewing social (with Adam), so very, very happy you found a monthly one so close to home! YAY!!! xx Dori BTW: How is your elbow doing? Are you fully recovered? Was the surgery successful?
I made it Dori!! Can you believe 6k eeek! I hate asking for subs, I feel so awkward and embarrassed (that's the Brit in me!) but I did it and it worked 😁 I will let you off for missing a video, you did have slightly more important things to do around that time and these weeks fly by don't they? That jumper worked out so well, I wasn't sure what the gathers would look like. I have just come back from my local Sewcial and although I was so nervous as knew no one, I loved it! Everyone was so friendly and I got to know of three more fabric shops in my area, how wonderful is that? My elbow seems (fingers crossed) to have mended completely and I can do things I haven't been able to without pain for 2 years, like vacuuming 😂. The pain of the surgery was worth it! Let us hope it continues to improve. Thank you so much for asking 🥰. Hope you have enjoyed your weekend and hope to hear you have some sewing news before long! xxx😘
@@socarole66 Nothing wrong at all for encouraging non-subscribers to hit that subscribe button to push you over the top. So happy that you enjoyed your sewcial event, and especially for finding out about more fabric shops in your area. Because I moved, I'm relying on my new sewing friend to tell me where they all are. Took my machines in for servicing to a quilt shop that sells some absolutely gorgeous quilting cotton, but don't know if they sell other types of fabrics yet. Will be picking up my machines on Monday, so I'll find out then. Went to Hobby Lobby, which is like all their other stores. JoAnn's here is a complete mess (literally and figuratively) and I won't be going back. There's a fabric store in Maitland, FL that Trish and Jen have gone to and talked about on their channels, so at some point, I'll be making a healthy drive to check that one out. Have a promised lunch and fabric shopping date with Grace in Orlando, and I'm sure she knows of great fabric stores to go to there. That's out in the future yet. Getting a new house set up by only one person takes a lot of time because I have the normal cooking, cleaning and errand running to get done also. Right now, I'm looking for gently used IKEA furniture for my sewing rooms. The larger IKEA pieces that I want will be ordered and have them delivered. Very happy to hear that your arm is healed, but be careful with it for the next 6 mons or so. Don't want any set-backs with your recovery. Hugs to you! 😘
Carole, I love your table runner! If you don't like the feel of your top then please don't wear it. You love the print so cut it up for something home dec. Maybe throw pillows or incorporate it into a less seasonal table runner. You have been busy at the sewing machine. 🥰Bernadette
Hi Bernadette, thanks so much for your comment. I will wear the top a couple of times, maybe it will grow on me! If not then as you say, I will repurpose it or clean with it 😆. Thanks for watching and have a good week 🧵😊
Congrats, looks like you made 6k subscribers. Your videos are informative, genuine, and fun so no surprise to me. The table runner is gorgeous and will be a super addition to your festivities. I have never thought of DBP as a chamois but now I can't get it out of my head 😅. I have made a couple of waterproof jackets over the past couple of years and I ❤ adding reflective fabric into the seams. Through the winter it is dark and it adds a bit of safety. It's also good for cycling shirts same reason. Check your 'fleece back ponti' and see if it's water repellent. It might be softshell fabric which makes terrific hiking/dog walking jackets or vests similar to Columbia brand.
Thank you Nancy, I did make it to 6k and beyond which is amazing! I really appreciate your kind comments. The ponte I bought isn't softshell or it isn't similar to any softshell I have bought before, it is too soft for that but a brilliant idea if it was! I will admit, the softshell fabric I bought in the end I gave it away as I was too scared to sew with it on my old machine. I really regret that now! Thanks so much again and have a great weekend 🧵😊
Carole, I have the EXACT same fabric, had cut it out last week and today I sewed it up, and you're right! It's awful! Especially around the neck band, and the hems are ripply. Of course, at 95% finished, I realized that maybe a walking foot would have helped! But then again, maybe not!
No way!!!! Oh my goodness you have no idea how happy I am to hear you don't like the fabric either. It is the strangest material and I think it has to be microfibre. I don't recall looking at the fabric label so its my fault. I was so hoping one of my US viewers would have the same fabric 👏🏼I am going to wear the top, a couple of times at least but like you, my seams aren't great and I hate that you can see the white of the fabric in the seam lines. Hope you manage to wear yours!! Thanks so much for your comment 🧵😊
Once again you have posted a much needed sewing blog, especially your review of the poly fabric. One favor please: you referred to the neck edging as a skill you learned from Rachel on The French Seams. I had been off line for quite awhile and must have missed that episode, so if you remember which one it was included in could you please share that? Neck finishing on stretch tees presents a challenge to me and I could benefit from any help I could get.
Thanks so much for your comment! I am not sure I do the binding exactly the same as Rachael but I know it is a really good tutorial and more or less the same. I have just put the video link at the very bottom of my description box, that should take you right there. Let me know if you have a problem. 🧵😊
Carole, was it starsky and hutch were one of them slid across the car bonnet in the opening credits? I'm imagining you doing that next time your car needs a clean, whilst wearing your new top, lol 😅😅 Love the table runner and the gift ideas. I hope you enjoy your social Sunday. Have a great week.
Oh Annette that is hilarious! My bathroom window is just above my car so I can jump onto it from there 😂. Do you remember the dent he left in the car?! I am so hoping the group on Sunday is friendly as I won't know anyone. Hope you have a good weekend too and week ahead 🧵😊
@socarole66 I'm sure you will easily make new friends at the social. I'm not sure I would get any sewing done though, I'd be too busy chatting. Glad I made you chuckle with the Starsky and Hutch reference lol.
Oh Clare, I was so upset and annoyed at myself on Sunday when I watched Adam's video 😣. I had been wanting a weekday sewcial and to meet you all again for so long as we always seem to be busy at weekends. In the last couple of years I swear my brain is going to mush, I used to be so switched on! I hope I can get to see you again sometime. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊xx
Love watching and learning from you. I live in the USA and have never seen those round towels! What are they supposed to be used for? Loved your table runner!
Thanks so much for watching. I am just sitting replying to my comments and I now understand those towels must be a European thing! To be honest all mine were bought in Spain and France. I use them in the kitchen for drying hands and the idea is that you aren't always using the same bit of towel to dry with like you would on a flat towel on a rack, you know that bit that everyone seems to use ?! 😂. I will obviously have to explain a bit more about those towels next week! Thanks again and have a great week 🧵😊
Another great video. Two mine think alike, I thought you could use it to dry the car off.lol😂 what pattern did you use for the jewellery holder please. Happy sewing from Australia
I also think it would really make windows sparkle 😂. It really serves me right for not properly looking at the fabric label so I will wear it as a punishment! For the jewellery holder I am afraid I kind of made it up myself using a dinner plate and a side plate 😊. There are probably some RUclips videos for one out there, if I manage to perfect these I will do a tutorial in November. I just need to tweak where to put the ribbon channel! Happy Sewing from Dorset! 🧵😊
Thanks so much for your comment. A lot of people have said not to wear the top but I am willing to give it a try for a couple of wears, if I don't like it then I will repurpose it! 🧵😊
Thanks so much! I can't believe I hit the target and I hate asking for subscribers 🙈. I have only just worked out that credit card holder but am happy to do a tutorial for it in November. It is so easy and quick to do once you get the measurements right. Have a great week 🧵😊
Oh, Carole! Fabric looks great and then we sew something and reality “slaps” us. “What is going on with this fabric?” I wore my cotton linen shirt yesterday and I’m not happy at all. I’ll never purchase JoAnns’ mock linen again! Your top is pretty though. I’m glad the back side doesn’t show. The fiber content may include tinsel It’s some I’ve noticed about JoAnns fabric and you say plastic-like; well it’s described as a plastic-polymer. Most likely you have a tinsel based fabric.
Fabric does like to trick us sometimes doesn't it? It tempts us in with its patterns and softness! I think to be honest it is microfibre, I didn't look at the label properly but I will learn for next time. Sad to hear you have been unlucky with your cotton linen, hopefully it will improve with some washing? Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a better week. 🧵😊
I didn't realise how reflective that fabric was until I held it up in the light!! I would definitely be seen if I wore that. I haven't done a sew along for those Credit card holders yet as I have only just worked them out, but I may do! 💗
I honestly thought people would have seen that shape of towel before but judging by the comments it must be a European thing as I bought all mine in France and Spain. I use mine in the kitchen mainly, the idea is you don't keep drying your hands on the same bit of towel and they are easy for a quick dry rather than a 'flat' towel on a rail. I have had mine for years but never thought of making one! Thanks for watching and your comment 🧵😊
How strange Carole as it looks nothing like chamois fabric! It looks good on you. I used to feel that we were missing out on dbp in the UK as it’s difficult to get hold of. I’ve moved away from that view in recent months!! 😀
I know what you mean about not being able to buy DBP in the UK, that is probably why I jumped to buy it in the US. I only buy it for Autumn and Winter tops though, I can't imagine wearing it in Summer or for sleeping 😥. Natural fabrics are so much better though aren't they. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thanks for your comment and no I don't think it was either! I think in retrospect it was microfibre, I should have paid more attention to the label. I will wear it anyway as I am sure it will keep me warm. Have a good week 🧵😊
it's a lovely verse but a bit scary. No wonder the thesbians and singers are not particularly embracing same. You cannot stop progress and I'd say some progress needs a new direction ❤
I know what you mean Anne and I wonder about children and homework etc. I really don't know what the future holds but I do hope there becomes some control over AI. My husband showed me a work video he had which was done by an AI person, you really could not tell she wasn't real, it was terrifying. Ah well, maybe we are just getting old! Thanks so much for watching and your comment and I promise you, I am real! 😆. Have a good week 🧵😊
A journey to the shores of town,
For supplies of sustenance.
But encounters of stores,
For sewing desires and makes.
Tracks around for sightseeing town,
Before heavy packs laden.
Wandering walk back uphill,
To home for a while and rest.
For Chris and Carole take to hills,
Old and worn from time lost.
Chalky county holds their view,
Across this land of Dorset.
Oh Babbra. I'm just about to reply to my comments but just spotted this one and just had to reply straight away! Oh my word, that is fantastic! "Heavy packs laden" no truer word was said 😂. The end is stunning 🥰
I have to ask, did you write this? X
@@socarole66 Hi Carole, yes I did write it. After you said about Wordsworth I was inspired to put something together. Glad you like it 🥰. Enjoy your weekend.
@@BYBabbra well is there no end to your talent? That's marvellous and so sweet of you to write that. I feel very honoured 🥰

Congratulations, 🎉 Carole, 6k, well deserved.
Can't wait to hear what you think of sewing sewcial.
Love watching pics from your walks
Beautiful makes as always.
Pity the navy fabric is not nice. I totally get how easy it is to get distracted by lovely print :)
Have a wonderful weeo
Thank you very much Anne! I made it so 6k which was so exciting. I am so glad you still enjoy my videos and aren't bored yet! Have a lovely weekend 🧵😊
"Love your makes", always do. Your hair is beautiful today. Keep inspiring and informing us.
Oh thank you so much, that is so sweet of you 🥰. I so appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment xx🧵😊
And the binding 😍😍😍
The towel idea is really great!

Only a couple of hours from you....just saying 😆. Maybe wait until your foot is mended though 💗xx
@@socarole66 lol yes it looked a bit hilly for my ankle yet xxx
Awww love your table runner, very pretty. Christmassy, but not over the top Christmassy so you can use it autumn winter time. K xxx
Have a wonderful week too 🧵😊
Love to see your walks and the beautiful scenery.
Also enjoy a vlog that mainly uses non indie patterns. Think we forget too much the big 4. Thank you
Thanks so much for your comment Ruth. I have so many Big 4 I do like to use them but I also have a few Indie patterns as well. I wish there were more channels using the Big 4 as well, especially the UK channels as we all need inspiration don't we! 🧵😊

How exciting that you found a monthly sewing social.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the fabric. It helps us! I am no longer a fan of double brushed poly and am aware of texture. Thank you!
Thanks for watching. I don't mind DBP (not as nightwear though!) but this is different all together and it was only when I started sewing I noticed it. I will still wear it though as I am sure it will keep me warm! 🧵😊
Thank you so much for this
Thank you for watching and I hope you have a good week 🧵😊

That poem is brilliant!
I agree with one of my fellow commenters, that doesn't look like double brushed poly.... any brushed fabric wouldn't have a shine to it.
Your table runner is adorable. Great job. Now your a quilter 😊
Thank you so much! I wonder when a Quilter does officially become a Quilter?! 🧵😊
@@socarole66 my opinion, when you make your first quilt, then you do another quilt project. Your oven mitts, are quilted 😉
Congratulations on 6k 😀
Thank you so much! 🧵😊
Have a wonderful week and hope all is well with you and William is now better. xxx
BYBabbra truly wrote the "Ode to Chris & Carole"!!! That was wonderful!
I hate asking for subs, I feel so awkward and embarrassed (that's the Brit in me!) but I did it and it worked 😁
I will let you off for missing a video, you did have slightly more important things to do around that time and these weeks fly by don't they?
I'm imagining you doing that next time your car needs a clean, whilst wearing your new top, lol 😅😅
Love the table runner and the gift ideas.
Hi Carole, I love your Christmas table runner so much! ❤ Sorry you didn't make it to the social x
Top looks pretty, but if it doesn't feel good give it away. I'm tired of wearing things that don't feel good. Love the quilt.
Thanks so much for your comment. A lot of people have said not to wear the top but I am willing to give it a try for a couple of wears, if I don't like it then I will repurpose it! 🧵😊
Congratulations on 6K Carole! Can I ask is there a tutorial for the credit card holder cover?
Hi Carole, that reflective fabric is very reflective 😅😅😅. I like your credit card holders! Do you have a so long for that?❤
I didn't realise how reflective that fabric was until I held it up in the light!! I would definitely be seen if I wore that. I haven't done a sew along for those Credit card holders yet as I have only just worked them out, but I may do! 💗
Never seen the round towel before. What do you do with it?
I honestly thought people would have seen that shape of towel before but judging by the comments it must be a European thing as I bought all mine in France and Spain. I use mine in the kitchen mainly, the idea is you don't keep drying your hands on the same bit of towel and they are easy for a quick dry rather than a 'flat' towel on a rail. I have had mine for years but never thought of making one!
Thanks for watching and your comment 🧵😊
Remember to label your runner! Name of runner, your name or initials, and date. Great runnner!
I had never thought of that! I will certainly do that thanks so much for telling me. 🧵😊
@@socarole66 Absolutely I’ve moved away from man made fabrics and try to buy only natural fibre fabrics now.
If you trace the towel on paper you’d have a permanentpattern
I would indeed and I will do that thank you. Saves me drawing round the old towel again and again! Thanks for watching and your comment 🧵😊
Don’t think that was double brushed poly. I never trust Joann’s and I’m very hesitant to buy from them.
@socarole66 😂but am I. Only kidding I am very real. Thankyou for your wonderful vlogs ❤️❤️
Sounds very odd, not an ideal texture for clothes. Hehehe fancy chamois 😂
It really is strange and kind of serves me right for not looking at the fabric label 😂. Hey ho, I shall wear it or maybe clean windows with it?! xx
