    to avoid confusion, fibula is the latin word, perone is the greek word, hence peroneal = fibular

    A very useful video :)
    Just a little correction there : 5:33 its the " lateral malleolus " which is connected by the ligament to the calcaneus.

    what anatomy software/program did you use for this? I love how you there are multiple options where you can isolate each bones and have an option with the ligamentous attachments

    Nice video. My loving girlfriend sprained her ankle a year and one month ago and still suffers severe shooting pain up her ankle, shin if something bumps her. She has some numbness as well. It is still bit a swollen and swells more if she walks on it too much. Any good advice? Her sensitive area is on the inside of her ankle.

    My ankles where damaged when I was 1 and a half years old, and now 51 trying to improve them, fix them, but there is permanent damage so may have to eventually make a truce with them.

    Excellent tutorial. In terms of movement definitions, can anyone help me understand why we speak of dorsiflexion and plantarflexion, why is there no extension movement at the ankle?

    • @danielgedutis7751
      @danielgedutis7751 4 года назад +2

      steelonius In my recent studies, the plantarflexion is the extension part of the ankle joint and the dorsiflexion is the flexion part. The flexion reducing the angle from the foot to the leg(anteriorly) in dorsiflexion and the angle increasing from foot to leg(anteriorly) in the plantarflexion; that’s my understanding. Hope that helps.

      steelonius you’ve probably figured this out by now, though, since you commented a year ago. Lol

      I think it's because the feet are at a perpendicular plane from the rest of our body, so the terminology is different

    This video has helped me understand a lot - I fractured my tibia and fibular when a heavy motorcycle fell on my leg and due to already having a plate and screws fixed to my upper tibia some 20 years ago there is no chance of using a 'nail' in my tibia.
    An external Llizarov frame is fixing my tibia parts to enable that to heal and there is an addition to the frame at the lower end fixing my calcaneus in a relative position to my tibia - this is the only part of the fixture that causes any pain due to Physios insisting I walk and fully weight bare from the start. The Surgeon who fitted the frame has told me to only bare about 25% of my weight at this point so the Physios are wrong yet again, and they wonder why I told them to go away ! Why do they always want patients to do too mich too soon ?
    My own sense of well being told me to ignore the physios and I sent them packing - if I had followed their 'orders' then I would not only have experienced great pain but also possibly have ruined some of the Surgeon's great work as the ligaments in and around the ankle joint would have either been damaged or caused undue stress to the lower part of my tibia.
