    From Bournemouth. Lived here (USA) since 2018. Mostly have all the differences down now but every now and again a new one will pop up. 'Once you're there, go for it' is definitely the right attitude.

    I'm an Ex Pat living in the US since 1983 and Man City fan. I enjoy your channel and have been watching for 3 or 4 years, your insight on the away day experience etc. is great. As far as the national anthem, every US sporting event starting with High Scool has it played before the game. Some leagues for youth sports may also play it. There is definetly a lot of patriotism in the US, you have probably noticed the US flags everywhere you go, too. Keep up what you are doing gents, you are legends!

    Trying to arrange a meet up with Chris in DC this season (fingers crossed). It was a perfect game for Bournemouth fans. Almost all the players were on the pitch at some point. Awesome 🎉

    With regards to turning right on a red light: it depends on where you are -- for example it is not allowed in New York City at all. In other cities, specific corners will have a sign that says there are no turns on red.

    Yes we like to play the National Anthem. It is played before every sports event with any kind of moderate crowd. That includes middle school/high school and even youth sporting events on occasion. For really big sporting events that’s when you add fireworks, marching bands, and aircraft flying overhead.

    Hearing you talk about driving in the US and I totally understand your struggle except reverse. Visited back in October for that infamous Wolves game and driving on the left while shifting was a challenge. No driver training after getting the rental but it was loads of fun. Glad you’re enjoying the west coast - hope the team visits the east coast in the future!

      Just remember like in England the same thing applies in the US as long as the car is built for that country the driver of the car is always in the middle of the road especially coming out if driveways onto roads you always have to think which side am I on

    To reiterate!! You can turn right on a red light if it’s safe to do so. We should adopt this in Uk when turning left

    It might be a bit stricter at Dignity Health Sports Park having watched many LA Galaxy matches there but I’m sure it won’t be a big deal. Haven’t been down to LA in a while, but they might still have the clear bag policy as well or something. Pretty sure though it’ll also be easy to navigate. Usually they’re looking for people with bigger cameras and lenses.
    Hope you enjoy the venue, been there a lot. Opened in 2003 it’s the second oldest “soccer-specific” stadium in the US.

    As an American, I have no idea why we play the anthem before every sporting event. Never heard a pre-game announcement like that, though-verbally abusing refs and opposing players is a time-honored tradition in US sports. Possibly a university policy thing given the venue?

    • @chrisfrank2664
      @chrisfrank2664 3 месяца назад

      I've can't remember an announcement saying that about the refs and players. For the Fans, Baltimore Ravens have a pre-game announcement about fan behavior, and finishes with everyone in stadium yells together "Don't Be A Jerk"!! Ravens fans are most united I've seen in any professional sports arena and best atmospheres in NFL.
      That's for fans and respecting everyone around you. But your right, it does nothing to stop yelling at Refs and opposing players! Baltimore fans don't shy away from letting you know how they feel. But Ravens Games are 1of best gameday experiences! And 1 of the worst is just 30 miles south in Landover, MD. If anyone didn't know already the Washington Redskins/Commanders don't play in DC. New Owners want new stadium in DC, but limited space, except for tearing down the rust bucket that used to be RFK stadium and building a new one at that site. The place is a eyesore when driving into the city, and should have been knocked down years ago! Or as soon as DC United new stadium opened, the place is only home to 100's-1000's of Rats! *Not a joke, only tough part about that is the estimate of how many rats there are?

    Law enforcement in LA, both city and county, have a lot of helicopters. A LOT. I think LAPD alone is over 15. County has another 10.

    The US pitches are pretty dreadful yes & quite scary as an injury risk from what I've seen as an Arsenal fan. We've been there a few years in a row now & it's been a recurring issue. All about the money now though, and teams make a lot more for pre-season tours there than staying in Europe, suppose that outweighs any concerns.
