The loop tends to null out signals that are perpendicular to it, so it is possible that you could have had an even better RX on some of those weaker ones by rotating it.

I have tried but didnt notice much difference so far. I know it has a lot to do with the design of your loop.

Colin, Thanks for another great video! I probably don’t need the loop because I am in a low noise area here in rural South Carolina. But thanks for the link to the George Smart page. Wow! What great collection of resources and fun stuff. I saved the link in my ham radio favorites. 73 and Happy Christmas de N9XY Michael.

Great A/B test. I've gone from a long wire to a multi band delta loop at home, where I'm surrounded by telephone and electric poles. Made a huge difference on receive. My old ft-847 only has one HF antenna connection though.

I built a 900 foot long Beverage receive-only antenna for use on 40, 80, and 160 meters. It turned out to be very good at resisting corona discharge during a thunderstorm that rendered a 40m Yagi useless on receive. Signal levels were lower than on the Yagi, but corona noise was eliminated.

    Very good.
I suffered from broadband internet noise from my telephone wire (not in use) which Ofcom investigated and said it had probably corroded and radiating.for many years and h.f. was killed for me with S8 noise 160m to 20m except 60m. I lengthened my 40m inverted vee for 60m.
I made an indoor magnetic loop to null out the noise and that worked for me.
The noise went down considerably when it was changed to fibre optic cable.

I’ve been using a Wellbrook loop for years and on 60m it has been a godsend. I have some noise on 40m but the s/n is night and day over a wire antenna. Ideally you need a radio with a dedicated RX ant port.
