      Most of what Kenny is teaching, I learned 30 years ago, under a Chinese Kenpo Grandmaster. Here is one for you, the Foot working in Circle Style Martial Arts, like Bajiquan or TaiChi Quan, is the same foot used by basketball and soccer players to defend. Positive and Negative is paramount in understanding Jujitsu, among all others. One Grandmaster taught me this... All martial arts came from the same core. Many Masters will tell you, a Black belt is just a learners permit. Student would leave their Masters, when they became Masters, thinking they learned all. Then they create their own system, for their identity. However, the gap from Master to Grandmaster was that of a Beginners to Master. My Favorite Grandmaster, still thirsted for knowledge and would train with anyone.

      Kenny is a great instructor! My son has been training Jiu-Jitsu at one of Kenny's locations for almost 4 years now(since just after he turned 5) and he is able to break things down in a way that somebody his age can understand and learn what he's teaching. But trust me, he's not going to baby them either! His ability to transition from working with all age groups from 5 up to full grown adults, whether they are new to things or already experienced, is seamless!

      In the military we repeat the same phrases over and over again. That is how you remember them and the lessons when you're being shot at. Very effective technique you don't see a lot in the regular world.

    • @BenWeeks-ca
      @BenWeeks-ca 2 months ago +19

      @BradleyUppercrust My dad wrote pop songs that did well and would point out songs that had strong hook lines. The repeating was part of what helped people remember it. He used similar principles in aviation when he was an instructor.

      So the thing that's absolutely mind boggling about his whole methodology, as a nerd myself, is most of what he's saying relates to fundamental physics principles. And I don't mean body mechanics, I mean like Quantum Mechanics lmao
      He's talking about pulling clarity from chaos--that's interpreting signal through noise. He's talking about probabilities with no determined outcomes, that's Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. He's talking about bisecting lines, that's dispersing energy along a perfect tangent. This guy isn't just a martial artist, he's a Quantum Combatant!!

    I had the distinct pleasure to train under Kenny several years ago. He lives in my hometown, and most of my foundational fighting skill comes from him. To see him getting the recognition he deserves is amazing.
    Side note: when I told him I wanted to train at his gym but I couldn't afford it, he said "clean the mats each night and we'll call it even." Can't describe how grateful I am.

      Years of traning nothing new, real world do not give opportunity and martial arts, you should be brave and able to make decision at the right time, muscle do nothing, a skinny soldier can do a lot more than a bulky gym man, Muscles he has is trained for linear motion. In real world muscle should be trained for circular motion. Only indians and chinese have this knowledge,. Sikhs rajpuths know this cicular motion from childhood. Foot work has to come from childhood dance and art.

    • @recoil53
      @recoil53 2 months ago +8

      If you like that, then look up Kevin Lee's Tai Chi video that shows applications. Actually some of the Northern internal styles have similar moves, so his (and other) videos on Bajiquan and Baguazhang also apply.
      Notice he was talking about moving to the outside, you will find this footwork/philosophy in many martial arts, like Wing Chun. He is "attacking the outer gate".
      There are a lot of traditional Chinese martial arts concepts shown here, it's just worded differently. Unsurprising, since American and British special forces styles come though William Fairbairn, who was a police officer in Shanghai and learned (and used) Chinese martial arts there. He also knew Western fighting, but he did learn Northern styles.

    Using Tai Chi as the example of a perceived useless martial art to show that it is actually effective is brilliant. I've always felt this way about tai chi. I practiced it after a serious injury that cost me my mobility and it helped me move again but it also showed me some of those emerging patterns in other martial arts. Moving towards the outside line to get at the opponent's back was some of my favorite things in martial arts, when I actually studied and trained. And the bisecting line thing is wax on wax off. I've always believed in this principle. Haha, all of my movie knowledge is actually effective. Or, should I say, that it is DOPE. Aha! New to this channel and already loving it!

      Yes 100% this, but majecsyre you take in the rest of his point as well. Basically the human body ican only move in so many ways....the problem with all the traditional arts, and i absolutely love them is they don't test the practicality under pressure. This forces you to take the fundamentals of the movement and alter them to make them work in the moment.

      Back controll is an asymetrical position, and a dominant one, very strong for standing as you can use someone as a human shield from the back and throw them unto an attacker. My whole gane is about chasing the back, sweeping and wrestling up or reversing from guard or bottom
      I also drill multiple attackers frim time to time. essential

    Nice to see some love for tai chi, which is basically all principle based, not technique based.
    i.e all applications come from a rotation through making your body maintain an axis, thus creating a continuous lever as the perimeter, giving all applications maximum leverage no matter what the opponent does. hence the classical saying: "1 ounce will move 100 pounds"

    • @aryantyagi12a
      @aryantyagi12a 2 months ago +2

      Doesn't this also require muscle strength and neural adaptation, also tendon and bone strength, i mean a stronger person would find it much easier to implement as compared to a less strong person. Or is it something else.

    • @Purwapada
      @Purwapada 2 months ago +1

      @aryantyagi12a well tai chi can be done with minimal muscle strength by dissipating oncoming force through oblique angles in the body causing the opponent to lose structural integrity when he pushes in. This mostly requires fascia too "stretch" through expanding while keeping a good structural framework.

    • @jjw5165

      @aryantyagi12ayes all life long training of body and mind. Breathing, mindset, posture, stance, diet and health, flow, give, resistance, fulcrums, balance, momentum and energy. Probably more i can not think of. When training in proper posture, stance and breathing the blood, lymph and air flow in an optimal manner increases health and toughness of whole body.
