I'm glad we have voice actors like Mike in a field that isn't necessarily always treated with care. It's all too easy to find lackluster english dub performances, but he puts his heart into every performance, even Ratatoing lol
Agreed, it's also quite surprising that he had 4 roles in that movie. Well at least regardless of the movie, he still performed very well like you said.

@DankZilla technically both. The American name for eggman was robotnik, whilst the Japanese name was eggman because of his shape. They eventually morphed it into doctor ivo "eggman" robotnik. Pretty much eggman is a nickname now.

There's not another voice actor on this planet that can voice Eggman like Mike Pollock does.
Supersaurus4 Sonic and Jason is another example. This is proven perfectly by Roger.
+Osoji Nosferatu Jason Griffith is the absolute worst Sonic voice though. Griffith just isn't a good actor. His delivery is terrible.
There's two sides of my opinion on this: on one hand, we have the kid who loved Jason, and then we have the present version of me who questions whether or not he was actually good or not. I guess it's all a matter of when you were first introduced to the actor.

The higher-pitched "Ohohoho" is closer to the Japanese Eggman voice's laugh, so it makes sense they'd prefer it over a more Santa Clause style laugh.

I like how (at least in this interview) Mike shows that even if you have a big role in Voice Acting, there's always da struggle. Accepting jobs that may not be always to your liking.
Thanks, and understood, but it's still worth clarifying for anyone who might believe I have purely mercenary intentions. The fact remains that I happen to love what I do and am extremely lucky that I can get paid for doing what I love. Regardless of the particular pay rate or the particular type of gig, it's still a blast to be able to do it.

Voice acting has always been a fun side hobby I like doing just for kicks. If I don't cut out as my intended career path, a film composer, than I have that option to turn to, so I'm thinking ahead. And seeing as I graduate high school 2022, I'm gonna need to plan.

I like the insight about how Eggman was recast before Mr. Bristow passed away. I personally think Bristow's performances were better, but I cannot complain about Mr. Pollock's either. What a lucky character to have such great talent behind him

Very true, but I’m happy my parents didn’t pay attention when they bought me, their sweet little girl, Shadow the Hedgehog. Not a fantastic game, but I had fun with the shooting and swearing when I couldn’t get it anywhere else.

Probably one of the best thing 4kids has done for english voice-overs was get Mike this role. I don’t think anyone will ever be able to replace him.
Amazing interview, it's really cool to hear about his inspirations and drive. Part of me wishes he talked about his performance in Jungle Emperor Leo, as that is, IMHO, the BEST performance he ever gave. But I guess it isn't well-known enough, so I understand. But all in all amazing vid! :3

Got here almost by chance as I'm not really into Sonic, but I've found Mike to be absolutely charming, and actually very honest about the lesser known aspects of the industry. As an amateur voice actor who has seen several Ratatoing equivalents happen, his take on it made me laugh because of how real it was. Cheers Mike.

I really like how far Mike Pollock's come, both as a voice actor and as the voice of Dr. Eggman. He even got to be flown out to LA to record Sonic Boom with the current voice cast. Check out their Behind the Scenes video. The chemistry between them all is just beautiful. =)

Mike Pollock is amazing as Eggman. Too bad he's been given crappy lines to read after Unleashed. I'm glad he's still the voice of Eggman, but he deserves better writers than Pontac and Graff. Also Jason and Mike are the best Sonic and Eggman duo

Just came across this and the channel name is *FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM* holy shit instant sub. I thought i was the only one who thought thats was hilarious as a kid
His love of gallows-flavored humor certainly explains why the PA announcements in Colors were basically the only jokes in that game that genuinely landed each and every time.
I always wondered why Eggman was so much better written than every other character during the Pontak/Graff era, but hearing how Pollock loves to do characters that make him laugh, I'm started to wonder if his lines in those games landed primarily because of his enthusiasm and sense of humor.
I'll always love Mike Pollock's voice as Dr Eggman.
