Ulfric Stormcloak may very well be simply trying to gain power for himself, but that is an irrelevant and pointless argument. He challenged the High King to a duel, and won. By tradition, he is the rightful High King. The fact that the Empire refused to allow him to take the crown, after an honorable victory, was a disgraceful show of ignorance and disdain toward the peoples of Skyrim. Nah, I think she said this one time she was an Imperial. Sadly. She, as most newcomers to the saga who came into contact with the Elder Scrolls through Skyrim, don't know that much about the racial adversities, struggles and animosities that forged the hatreds of the Fourth Era. They arrive, they see the big bad placeholders for northern European cultures being mean and cruel to the poor dark skinned refugees, to the funny animal people who they don't let into their cities and how they want to secede from the much nicer Empire, that accepts everyone equally. They fail to grasp the idea that the Dunmer have had a long history of slaving everyone around them, most notably Argonians, Nords and Khajiit, but will enslave anyone they can, how their society (pre and post Tribunal) is based around the concept of murder, plotting, stealing, betraying and doing anything to reach their goals - if you enter in someone's house and slaughter everyone inside, the house is legally yours as they failed to protect it and themselves from your onslaught in Morrowind -, how letting the Argonians into Windhelm's walls, where the Dunmer reside, would be a terrible fucking idea as it would spark constant riots and street fighting as most of southern continental Morrowind is under occupation by Argonians and tensions are very fucking high between both races, how stealing, lying and swindling is ingrained in the very essence of Khajiit society (which it is, I'm not slandering, it's in the bloody lore), or how despite their hatred of the Empire and the Dominion they have both Altmer and Imperial residents in the good parts of the city, being kept away from which the dunmer constantly complain about. Why would they willingly keep the Dunmer away from the good parts of the city but not members of the races whose main organs of government are the most hated foes of the Stormcloaks? Wouldn't it make more sense to think that, this being a medieval fantasy setting, the refugees simply can't afford to live in the rich parts of town and there isn't any social security program in existence in that world to look after their needs? I swear everyone who shits on the Stormcloaks has never played any other Elder Scrolls games, has the analytic capabilities of a boiled potato or are translating modern society, first world concerns, issues and concepts into a medieval fantasy rendition of pagan Scandinavia, expecting literal vikings to be nice to the demon-worshipping alien slavers that have warred with them the better part of six millennia. Hell, even having them inside their city and giving them a full quarter of it is immensely generous by our standards. We keep most refugees cramped in horrible camps where they barely survive nowadays
Pieter Terblanche I love how everyone frames ulfric as a puppet because of the thalmor dossier, but those idiots clearly did not read "Unresponsive" "inactive" "only contact in extreme circumstances"
I tried the empire and then I realised that the imperials aren't only puppets, they only care about money. They're no better then sellswords and they'd probably abandon the empire for a few septims. All Ulfric
William Owen that's not true. The empire was trying to stop the war so that way they can rebuild and take the fight back to the dominion so they had to sign the white gold concordat. If they didn't then the dominion would have marched into skyrim and slaughtered everyone, the empire was trying to prevent that. And even when they signed the treaty they never really punished people for worshipping talos, it was when ulfric and his rebellion started that the empire had to start arresting people for worshipping talos because the thalmor started getting more involved because of ulfrics rebellion. The empire is trying to save skyrim and rebuild the legion to fight the dominion once again and put an end to them

I remember Galmar's speach before battle of Whiterun, i see these Stormcloacks and think "i know this, this situation, these people, this idea". I'm from Poland and we had our "Stormcloacks". That's why i usually join to them.
We had NSZ and AK who fought with red empire, UPA, nazists for independent. They call them bandits, murderers etc. Now they call them The Cursed Soldiers.
I'm from America and our Stormcloaks were the colonies declaring Independence from Britain even though we were out numbered out trained and way less equipped.
Crazy Killjoy 2.0 meh not really. The colonists would have been crushed without France and Spain. While the Stormcloaks lived on their own terms with no real help.
I murdered every imperial in the name of Skyrim. Every camp raided, every town destroyed and rebuilt in the name of Ulfric. Then I joined the dark brotherhood and killed the emperor!
I just broke into random people's houses and murdered them. Then I used the naked mod to look at their naked dead bodies while I myself went around Skyrim bearing it all.
What's strange is that both the imperials and even some Stormcloak sympathizers talk about Ulfric having done some questionable actions in his quest to become High King, but neither faction elaborates on that. We never get to see why they distrust him so much. They just brand him a threat without explanation!
Well, many people dont condone his actions towards High King Torygg, and his rebellion does go in hand with Thalmor plans. Also, HE explicitly forbade Argonians to live in the city of Windhelm (according to Scouts-Many-Marches). That being said, I really like the complexity of his charater a lot. I do see him rather as a failed hero and a tragic character than anything else. He has seen some shit in his life. Im for the Empire, but Ulfric is my favorite TES npc
NastyaStarbuck Well, as I understand it, Ulfric was captured and tortured by the Aldmeri Dominion at some point, which is why he hates Elves so much. He managed to escape from prison, but during the Thalmor Embasy, you can find a dossier that explains the Thalmor intentionally let him escape so that he could start the war. In fact, the Thalmor were planning to save Ulfric from execution, but the dragon shows up and gives him a chance to escape anyways. General Tulius was right, the Thalmor did want the war to continue, and were willing to help Ulfric to ensure that it would do so. But Ulfric is right in that the empire was too corrupted and weak. Most of the provinces had already declared independence or sided with the Dominion. Holding onto Skyrim would not have been able to save them in the next war. As for his actions towards Torygg, it's revealed that Ulfric didn't just walk up and kill the high king. He challenged him according to Nord customs and Torygg agreed to it. He could have declined, but that would require a new Moot to vote for a new king. So even if they don't agree with his actions, Ulfric did operate within the bounds of Nord law.
The thing is, the civil war is done so well story wise, that I really can understand, if not always justify, actions on the both sides. I say bringing Elenwen to the council was a shit move from the Tulius, if he was aware of the history between her and Ulfric which he probably was. (Side note>how much torturing they had to do to break a man such as Ulfric?) Also, I didnt like how the Empire handled the Markarth incident either. I personally think that killing Torygg was justified, but not so smart a move since the young king would probably sided with Stormcloaks if Ulfric had just asked. (It's possible to ask Sybille Stentor about it) Way I see it, Ulfric's problem as a leader is his impulsiveness and tendency to react with gut rather than mind. Also, while I personally believe that Skyrim most likely needs Empire and vice versa, I honestly cannot know is this is really the case. I mean, Redguards were able to fend off the Thalmor all by themselves..
NastyaStarbuck The Aldmeri Dominion is comprised of Summerset Isle, Valenwood, and Elsweyr, which is three provinces of Tamriel. Immediately after the White Gold Concordat, Hammerfell declared its independence from the empire. Vardenfel has been angry with the empire since they abandoned them during the Oblivion Crisis, and I don't know how the Orcs or the Argonians feel about the situation. Basically after the great war, the only allies the empire could rely on was Cyrodill and High Rock. Everybody else either switched sides, or chose to remain neutral. The empire is fucked with or without Skyrim!
There comes a point in the lore where the stormcloak cause becomes less about kings and worship and more about humans fighting for their right to exist.
This is why I resonate so well with the stormcloaks. It is very personal to them. The only difference in A rebellion and A revolution is who side you are on. in America we teach the American revolution in Britain they teach the rebellion of the colonies. And New York they teach the civil war in Georgia they teach the aggression from the north. As a southerner myself I resonate so well with revolutions. We could stand to have one this very day in America.
I feel the same way, living here in Western Canada! The elites in the east 'are too weak to rule us, yet brand us criminals for wanting to rule ourselves!'
@@bozonomicsenjoyer7372 This is time before elite and rich besides kings and such. A movement for independence turns into a war for independence either way.

From the first moment i was a stormcloak, never have i done the imperial way in skyrim. i allways have been faithful to Ulfric, the true king of skyrim. i remember the first playtrough so well.
This is it men! They say that our cause is false and that we are nothing more than thieves, thugs and murderers! But no! We are farmers! We are craftsmen! We are sons and daughters of shopkeepers, maid servants and soldiers! We are the sons and daughters of Skyrim! And we have come this far because our cause is true. Because we fight as one. And because our hearts are bursting with anger! What we do here today, we do for our country! For all the true Nords of Skyrim! Whiterun's walls are tall, but they are old and crumbling, like the Empire whose Legion lines them. They've barricades to block us, but we'll tear through them and the Imperials behind them! Our objective is the drawbridge. If we can find a way to drop it, the city will be ours! Everyone on me. Let's show these Imperial milk drinkers what true Nords look like!
original version had ulfric doing the speech, there is a civil war overhaul, but it is bugged all to hell. it uses the original civil war questline. i beat it on ulfrics side. I beat it as the imperials too. The stormcloaks had giants.... the imperials had Imperial Battlemages, and Ebony clad Knights, as well has illusion wielding assassins.
Love listening to this video specifically because having that animation layered over ulfric's speech in the guitar solo is just pure awesomeness. Great stuff to listen to while I read or clean house or whatever.
I honestly don't understand why anyone would ever want to side with the imperials, even if you do agree with their views. The stormcloaks are a badass bunch of vikings lead by an uber-charismatic badass, and fighting against an entire empire for their freedom. The imperials are pretty much the government and some uncultured old dude trying stop a rebellion. Why would anyone want to do that when they can become a badass underdog and help overthrow an oppressive government.
Because the stormcloaks are also racists in their view, you can tell by looking at windhelm. Just walking into the city you hear racism toward dark elves right off the bat..
Nick Marshman The stormcloaks my have some racists in their following, but Ulfric's motives behind the gray quarter aren't racis t at all. There's a lot more to it if you search up the topic for yourself.
Maybe because Ulfric is a Thalmor agent? Read his dossier from thalmor embassy. I can understand regular Stormcloak soldier, but i can't stand Ulfric. And i like old jarl of Whiterun. Don't want to change him.
SantusFaustusI Whoa what? He was tortured and even if he was a thalmor agent what the hell does that have to do with elves being racist? Go to Solstheim the Dunmer think they're the upper race over there. And the High Elves have always though themselves the Master race because they are supposedly direct descendants of the Aedra
You know, the more I replay the Civil War storyline, the more I support the Stormcloaks. I mean, I played as an Altmer too. I just can't like the Empire.

I may be a Dark Elf, but that doesn't mean I support the empire. ALL HAIL ULFRIC!
Indeed. me too
Ulfric doesn't hate the Dunmer, he gave them residence within his walls. He doesn't even force them to aid his cause, even though they live under his roof.
CaptianObvious2000 High Elf here, fighting for the Stormcloaks.
same Kinsmen the empire let are homeland burn they shall pay dearly and i served the empire like ulfric did

Peter C same to you friend
seriously though. ALL HAIL ULFRIC!!!
The Empire started the war, not Ulfric.
All hail Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King of Skyrim!
***** Anyway, the empire obeys Ademiro Dominion and i dont respect anyone who obey he and the thalmor
nah bitch im the king
Bachri Blank Stormcloaks are racist, that's far worse than religious oppression.
Chirurgeon Crane Read the other comments, this has been dealt with.
Chirurgeon Crane Get a life. The stormcloaks are nationalists. There is a big difference, of course ignorant people like you would never understand.
Imperials think we need their laws, pfft
I've broken at least six of the imperial dog's laws
Fuck the imperials laws
@@pattonramming1988 Wait... we're supposed to be breaking the Laws? Oh... I thought it was thei Spines...
@@pattonramming1988 so you broke the same laws Ulfric has the only different law is the worship of Talos the founder of the empire ulfric wants destoyed thats some really backwards logic

I think Malukah is a Stormcloak, any one else notice how much better Age of Oppression is?

I never sided with the Empire, Stormcloaks all the way, HAIL ULFRIC!!!
first game I tried imperial campaign... Till I saw that they were puppets of the thalmor and since then stormcloak all the way
And master of the voice.
The empire is trying to save skyrim and rebuild the legion to fight the dominion once again and put an end to them
I was a stormcloak long before I knew this video existed, this just reinforces my conviction

I remember Galmar's speach before battle of Whiterun, i see these Stormcloacks and think "i know this, this situation, these people, this idea". I'm from Poland and we had our "Stormcloacks". That's why i usually join to them.
I'm from Ireland. Our "Stormcloaks" were the IRA.
We had NSZ and AK who fought with red empire, UPA, nazists for independent. They call them bandits, murderers etc. Now they call them The Cursed Soldiers.
+Ferret Person I'm a Faroe Islander. I'm a true nord irl.
All hail to Ulfric you are the high King , we chased out the empire now it's time to crush the Thalmor .
Forever Stormcloak. The true sons and daughters of Skyrim!

I murdered every imperial in the name of Skyrim. Every camp raided, every town destroyed and rebuilt in the name of Ulfric. Then I joined the dark brotherhood and killed the emperor!
I ripped General Tullius's heart out....remember him, the one that had you on the chopping block.
Aye!
Same here, except for the fact I killed the emperor before joining the stormcloacks XDDDD
Zethras Gorgoth yeah I did same :/
I just broke into random people's houses and murdered them. Then I used the naked mod to look at their naked dead bodies while I myself went around Skyrim bearing it all.
All Hail Ulfric!! I am a true daughter of the storm cloaks!!

Stormcloaks are just rebels
@@katstoll6773
So were American Colonials.
Ulfric did nothing wrong.
I'm a High Elf who fights for the Stormcloaks!!!
same dunmer of morrowind

HIGH KING OF SKYRIM AND SLAYER OF THE IMPERIAL TRAITORS.
Nah, If you want to change do it without bloodshed. Nobody deserves to die for the elite and rich and their political games.
@@bozonomicsenjoyer7372 Deals signed in blood last longer than ones signed in ink.

Dovahkiin 94 You milk drinker
Why r u on this comment then?
I wasn't expecting it so it scared the shit out of me.
I expected it to be a joke video, like with someone pretending to be Ulfric, but no, it’s so much more! That is the speech that tells me that the Stormcloaks right.
“I fight for my people, impoverished to pay the debts of an empire too weak to rule them, yet grants them criminals for wanting to rule themselves?”
I vote for ulfric stormcloak as president.
MAKE SKYRIM GREAT AGAIN
ALL HAIL TO ULFRIC! YOU ARE THE HIGH KING!
I got little chills when I first started hearing Ulfric's voice.
The stormcloaks had giants.... the imperials had Imperial Battlemages, and Ebony clad Knights, as well has illusion wielding assassins.
chewbacca749 rrraaaaaaaahhhhrrr

Great stuff to listen to while I read or clean house or whatever.
All hail Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King 🙌
This deserves way more than 5K in 11 years
This is not the original video.
The True Correct Guy The Nords aren't the only ones that are racists *cough* *cough* elves
SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!
