I was eight and lived in a small village at this time.
I had a great time with all that snow.

I was 17 years old and in my last year at school and remember that winter as if it was yesterday. Had to walk to school with snow up to my knees.

Thank goodness for coal back then. The country relied on it to keep homes warm, and the rail network going.

Memorable arctic outside toilets. Rescued a Yukka plant over wintered it under the snow in a cardboard box .It didn't flower till 1991.Have distributed its descendants over the decades.😂

Had to walk the 3 miles to work at Merthyr Station to open up at 4;15am for the mail train. I wore thigh boots (waders) to keep me dry as I fought my way through the drifts - ah happy days
