The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian.
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You or Hero and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, they were living in San Francisco’s bay area, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US, she is her friend and role model and he made several duets with her),

Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.

Broken Vow" is a song that was written by Lara Fabian and Walter Afanasieff (her fiance and he is the one who cheated on her) After that, she left the USA with a broken heart and went back to Belgium at her parents place, he not only screw up her love for him but also her career in the USA. Walter Afanasieff is now 65 yo and he is dating actress singer Katie Cazorla 45yo.....!!!! Lara often mention that dating that playboy was the biggest mistake of her life. She is now married also a daughter and seems very happy

Every time i se Lara Fabian i fall in love with her. What a performer...and that heavenly beautiful voice of hers...I flew to Tallin to se her in concert and WOW! The magic is still there.This was in october 2022. This artist is something special...both on and of stage...and by the way....The man who broke her faith was Walter Afanasieff a record producer and songwriter...He wrote this song...with Lara...Thank you for reacting to this amazing singer.

LARA was an instant fan of 10 yr old Jackie Evancho back in 2010... Lara did a child friendly rewrite , in French, for Jaclie's 1st full album, recorded in late 2010, early 2011. MAGNIFICENT. I was in the audience for her first time she sang it in public. SONY had taped this magnificent concert, for PBS Great Performances Series, and David Folser arranged, produced the show.

I had never heard of Lara, but wow; what a voice...what a song... what a performance!
She has gone through so much... and this song reminds her each time.
It is becoming clearer the more I consume about her career that there has been a cruel bias set against her as far as her music career is concerned. Throughout it has been an uphill battle for her.
However, she clearly is a strong woman, having survived everything this far, staying humble, and most importantly, generous in a much broader sense, which makes her so much more the beautiful person that she is. An extraordinary woman with extraordinary talent and physical beauty. So, the question some are asking: who is this dull humdrum to have done this to her?

Lara is still very active, her voice still grandiose , her look spectacular, She,s got a new world tour starting in april 2024, mostly Europe and mid/Asia after in June its in Canada Ottawa, Montréal. Québec city and Trois-Rivière, I've got my tickets for the 2 shows in Montréal, can't wait. Sadly , no date yet for her possible venue in the USA

Maybe try some some studies about music and vocal, than you will hear something special. Some phrases of the second concerto of Rachmaninov, for instance. She used it two times in the melody. But... it needs a little cultural background to recognize it, and the flawless of her voice too.
Aww poor Lara, did she get betrayed? Well maybe that's because women all want the top tier tall handsome high status males, why do these guys cheat? She's beautiful and talented and probably has thousands of men that desire her, how many average guys do you think women have absolutely no interest in, no sympathy from me, I've seen how cruel women are when you're not what they want.
