When Taylor died, Riley then told Carmen to contact Luke and become friends. (this why Carmen contacted Luke on the DAY of Taylor’s funeral) Then when Luke left Carmen, Riley got mad. And so she decided to walk into Luke’s life and mess it up. Of course after the time ball happens, none of this ever happened, and thus we go back to Luke killing Riley in order to SAVE Taylor. None of Carmen’s storyline exists yet. (But Luke & the audience still know who she is, which keeps the reveal dramatic in season 3) And so the rest goes on how it is. Taylor & Luke live their life, have their daughter Brielle. Until it is then revealed that Shontay is, in fact, Carmen. What is Carmen’s reasoning for going after Luke? Its simple. He killed Riley.
