Tifa DUHHH childhood friend, lovely figure, basically always there for him, she would literally die for him if she could. The only reason he has any connection to Aerith is because of Zack, and fate saying HI. Though if there is a option for both... why not?

Boring. When I was a teenager I was in love with Tifa too. The way her character is written frustrates me now. I don't buy the whole "a promise you made to a friend when you were 12 years old means you are destined to be together forever and ever" BS. People grow apart all the time. And having a shared childhood trauma doesn't mean you're destined to be in a healthy relationship. She tried to convince Cloud to leave Aerith with Shinra, then tuns around the very next scene and cries at Cloud about all the terrible things Shinera has done to her. Contrast that to Aeirth that insisted on Cloud saving Tifa from Corneo before she even met her. She's supposidly this badass fighter that can "take care of herself" yet is constantly turning into the damsel in distress anytime Cloud is around. She's more enabling with Cloud than anything else. As for the the whole "Aerith belongs to Zack forever and ever because he built her a couple flower carts" argument. Well that's a whole other topic that I could talk on at length, but I'll keep it short. OG and Remake especially make it clear she has feelings for Cloud and not just because he reminds her of Zack. Some of it isn't conveyed the same in the English version. Nojima even stated in his novel that Cloud was Aerith's friend and lover. All that being said, this isn't about who is right for who, I just find pretty much all the other characters to be more interesting and compelling than Tifa.
All I can take from these comments and videos is that is really is just...subjective opinions lol I can loudly say I'm Cloti and I don't see any romantic feelings for Cloud/Aerith in Rebirth, if anything I felt bad for Aerith. She is constantly wanting a date or having fun with Cloud, and Cloud constantly shoots her down. In only one sidequest you have the option to be cute with Aerith, but again the option. In canon sidequest with Aerith, Cloud is strict and not accepting of her viewpoints. But then I remind myself...I'm biased and thats okay. Cloud and Aerith feels absent till the end, before then we get tension from Tifa and Cloud, understanding, then confusion, rage, and forgiveness. Cloud and Tifa went through the wringer here and again I loved it. I see Cloud and Tifa and there is an acceptance, a give and take. She can freely joke with him and I feel he accepts her friendly banter. I really can't divide it, so I put it to me being biased and I'm perfectly fine with that. Aerith is awesome, Cloud and Aerith are close, I felt 0 romantic tension with them, more of...a desire to live and know each other, but not love. And that people who see the romance, its for them, not me. For me Aerith at the end wants to have a world...a lie with Cloud, but that isn't natural to Cloud and it is forced from Aerith. It is sad to see both of them wanting to indulge in the lie, and it makes me excited for what it ends to. Either way I love Cloti, but above all I love ship culture so all ships are fine :3
I liked Aerith as a kid. Her healing abilities and leaning on the mystical side complemented Cloud's physical strength and tough no nonsense facade. She helped bring him out of his shell/comfort zone. She represented a bright future to move towards not a complicated painful past and reminder of how immature you were as a kid that you get with Tifa. Zach is dead at that point in the story. To say that Aerith SHOULD be with Zach is to say that she SHOULD die which of course she does. In any case, they were both working the SINNED system on Cloud.
To be frank i would like to see cloud and tifa together, but the cloud/aerith pipeline is quite strong 😂 Only thing is i just want my boy zack to not get his heart broken now that hens back, sure aerith got closure but he did not, hope bro can take it 🤣 his chemistry w cissnei was giving couple tho
After finishing Rebirth, it is so obviously a love story between Cloud and Aerith. But I always felt that way since OG. It what makes the story tragic and now yet to be known.

The remake made this decision hard to me more than the original. I think he is awkward and kind of cozy with Tifa in remake more than he is in the original and the relationship seems more genuine at times. He’s also protective of Aerith as he gets to know her more making the possibility of that more real. I like him with both women. In the original it’s hard to say who I shipped with who but in the remake they feel like an actual entire family him, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith. It’s going to be hard going into rebirth not knowing what to expect. They made me care about these characters more in remake I believe so whatever happens it will break my heart shipping aside.
People arguing over this is ridiculous. The answer is simple, ...both. sephiroth makes the hard choice for him. It is actually possible to love 2 people equally but differently and in AC Aerith tells him to let her go, accept what he has and move on with his life. Its not really that difficult to grasp 😂

They were later separated into two because they needed Aerith to die for the planet, and Tifa was reimagined as the childhood friend and love interest. There are literally MORE than 17 official statements in Ultimania and Anni books where Cloud and Tifa confirm mutual feelings for each other, and even AFTER AC, Tifa and the kids are called Cloud's 'Promised Land'. Cloud and Tifa are implied to spend a night together at the end of the game. She was his first crush and he really wanted to impress her when they were kids. And she was the one to glue his psyche back together. But I agree that Cloud and Aerith have better chemistry. Tifa is very timid despite her bold looks, and Aerith is quite mischievous and cheeky despite her humble looks. This creates a “I will show this bottled-up boy the beauty of life” trope quite well. I think it’s just not the best writing, because Cloud and Tifa moments and their story in Advent Children don’t look like the love story for the ages. The impact of Aerith’s death is too huge to make it work with Tifa afterwards.
So many seem to bypass his guilt for losing Zack as well as Aerith lol. He leaves behind his 'family' because he is afraid of losing them. But at the end of AC Cloud acknowledges himself that he is not alone, not anymore
I’m team Aerith all the way. I have nothing against him ending up with Tifa but I feel like Aerith was the one who matched him the best and I still think of them as soulmates. They have complimentary personalities, they understand eachother, and they seem much more comfortable together. I think that she had a great impact on him and vice versa nonetheless. :) Plus, I’m a sucker for tragic romances, they always stick to me. Cloud & Aerith have always meant a lot to me, and I’ve always found their connection beautiful and touching. Even though they’d know each other for a short amount of time, they still got along so quickly and she was still able to break his walls quite a bit. Meeting Aerith was like when you were going through some of the hardest times and someone pops into life unexpectedly and suddenly changes everything for the better ☁️
i personally choose cloud x aerith over cloud x tifa to put it in simpler terms...i feel the former makes for a more interesting story than the latter, plus cloud needs some color in his black and white life

Something Aerith could have done blindfolded and bound. I love Tifa, but again, she and cloud are not compatible in real life. It was a childhood crush, that spilled over into a duty of protection masked as love. Aerith was the 1st person to make cloud think beyond the Grey, and tap into his humanity FULLY. There's a reason Remake Aerith tells cloud in the resolution scene NOT to fall for her. Cause she knows that he WILL, and it will leave him emotionally stagnant after her departure. Tifa just doesn't have the social tools that aerith has naturally to speak to clouds soul. And that's ok.. some relationships like that can still work. But they would require alot of couples therapy. Aerith ironically enough would have been an amazing couples therapist for the 2, if not directly involved. I keep seeing ppl bring up all Tifa did for cloud in the lifestream, using that to show her feelings and devotion etc. While they forget, Aerith orchestrated the whole thing to help Tifa even DO it. So in the end, i ship cloud with NO ONE, cause without therapy, he's not suited to love or devote himself to ANYONE.. Because the person who was on the road TO that breakthrough was stolen from him. Well you're wrong. He gives the flower he got from Aerith as an adult immediately to Tifa. Tifa is also the one he shows the most emotion to as an adult. I always chose Aerith from the very first time I played the game since September 1997. Finished the game at least 8 times and always chose Aerith. Since Remake I can’t choose - well, I got the Aerith scene the first time. Second play-through Tifa.
Everyone is putting Aerith with everyone, from cloud to Sephiroth and everyone in between, but I say it should be Tifa because she's been there since the beginning. She's been with him through it all. She earned it imo (or he earned it however you look at it). I just think Aerith is a hopeful, where Tifa is a given

People ship Zack and Aerith due to insecurities about Cloud and Tifa's relationship. Despite being labeled a happy ending, if you read the Ultimanias, Zack dissolves in the Lifestream, leaving Aerith alone in the 'world of memories' - not exactly a happy ending. Even the og FF7 commercial narrator says "a love that can never be," and on screen was Cloud and Aerith . Aerith expressed a wish to be the one to piece together Cloud's memories because of her love for him . And giving Tifa full credit for this is illogical, and using it to argue for Cloud and Tifa's relationship is flawed because arieth helped tifa put cloud's memories together. There is no answer. its making a good ongoing love triangle 101 make enough gaps for player interpertation with a game its even better because you could mold certain story beats to only appear based around your own personal interaction with characters and to keep the player invested you never ever EVER allow a look inside the characters head and explore their emotions around the love triangle unless you are planning to definitively end the debate. and hey look at that whose the one character we never get a look inside the head of in any of the expanded reading material? you guessed it our emotionally stunted spikey haired protagonists We get Aeriths We get Tifa and we defintiely see that both girls love him we never see Clouds thoughts we see him grapple with guilt, inferiority complex, imposter syndrom and PTSD in advent children and these issues deeply surround his relationship and views of both Tifa and the memory of Aerith but when all of these things are worked out by the end of Advent Children we never see the end result of his personal relationships does he begin a relationship with Tifa starting a true family with her, Denzel and Marlene? does he just remain really good platonic friends with tifa as they run their respective business out of the same building (7th heaven and Strife delivery service) its for your interpretation the only thing we ever see after that is the five lines of dialogue shared between the two of them during Dirge of Cerberus and that dialogue is restricted to them talking about the current battle with Deepground in the ruins of Midgar

Regardless of who you choose (Ship and let ship :) ) it does seem that the writers do seem to have a opinion on who is (IMO) the 'poster couple' for FF7 and that MAY be due to 'pathos' then anything. Cloud and Aerith are paired together in promotional material, crossover events, and shown to be more romantically tied in subsequent media as the years have gone on. Aerith has stated (in a official short story) that while she was drawn to Cloud because he reminded her of Zack, she now loves Cloud for HIM and now, for lack of a better term, prefers him to Zack. Cloud meanwhile is so heartbroken over the loss of Aerith he is shown both in cannon (FFT) and non cannon crossovers to be seemingly constantly searching for the promised land in which he can see Aerith again, or kill Sephiroth because of what he did. NOW granted Clerith is probably given more focus BECAUSE of the emotions it invokes, lost love, tragedy, hope for being reunited in some way shape or form, etc. So yeah I think Clerith is the 'cannon' decision and it MAY just be because it adds more drama to the characters then making them happy/well adjusted people who move on with their lives for their own mental well being.
Exactly! You cannot beat “a dead potential girlfriend who died saving the world” even if the writers say that Cloud and Tifa were meant to be. Aerith is just the main lady in the game, and it would take an incredible writer to make Cloud and Tifa work. Even the writing in the original was not strong enough to make Cloud and Tifa work, even though they tried. They were still not together in Advent Children, because the loss Cloud went through was stronger than his intention to make it work with Tifa.
People who sympathize with Tifa will choose Tifa. But people who understand and sympathize with Cloud, understand why Aerith is the most important person to him
There's an argument to be made who Cloud may have loved more BUT you seriously can't be saying Aerith who he's known for 2 months became more important to him than Tifa whom he's known since childhood and was literally the reason he wanted to become a soldier, he did everything for Tifa. The latest novel confirms that Cloud was willing to do anything to become Tifa's 'special person' when he left Nibelheim. The iconic lifestream scene in part 3 also shows that inside Cloud's subconscious was full of childhood memories with Tifa. All this doesn't just get overtaken suddenly by another person. Even if you believe Cloud development more romantic feelings for Aerith, Tifa will always be his priority.
Cloud and Tifa never even got together. The Advent Children confirms this. They slept in different rooms and they were constantly arguing. Cloud was so miserable with Tifa that he moved into Aerith's church and he adopted Denzel for the sole reason of believing that Aerith led the boy to him. Tifa was just Cloud's childhood crush (who ostracized him when they were kids) and after Cloud met Aerith she was the only woman Cloud loved romantically. Their personalities complimented eachother and their chemistry was off the charts. It is a misconseption that Aerith loved Cloud because of Zack. FF7 ultimanias and novels prove that Aerith loved Cloud for who he really was. Her initial attraction toward Cloud started because he reminded her of Zack but Aerith fell in love with Cloud more than she ever did with Zack. Tifa is one of the reasons why Cloud became so socially awkward and reserved because Tifa and her group of friends ostracized and bullied him when they were kids. The way Cloud acted around Tifa in the Advent Children was a telltale sign that his love for Tifa was a platonic love. He was so heartbroken over Aerith's death that he lost his will to live. Cloud also had geostigma but he really didn't even care if there was a cure or not. Not being able to be with Aerith made everything seem pointless for Cloud. It was only after he saw Aerith again in the end and realized that she wasn't really gone and that she was always going to be with him he found his enjoyment of life again.
Actually, crisis core does count cause the ties in the events of the original ff7, not just the remake Because aerith Yes knew that Zack died, but she was in denial about it And what contradict your statement, in the original and remake of ff7, when she was a child. She approached her mother and eymra knowing and telling about her husband's death. In og ff7 The playground scene is implied that she knew Zack was gone. And when the original crisis core, not reunion came out, it was meant to tie in the events of original ff7. If we want to tie in Crisis Core to FF7 OG, Aerith's dialogue after meeting Zack's parents needs to change from saying he is missing, to he is gone (which is what mods are for). This is one of the many reasons why I'm very excited for the Gongaga scene with Zack's parents in Rebirth. Will Aerith acknowledge Zack as being missing or as being gone? She is very aware about some events that happened in the OG FF7. But we don't know how much she knows. I'm assuming she knows all of it, including about Zack, this time. And what about the new timeline where Zack is still alive? So many questions... and almost no answers... We'll just have to wait for a couple more months and see what happens

Havin said that, holding onto one's preference while not recognising actual reality & spinning all tales around to fit their version of story... Teenage me was obsessed with Tifa all the way when OG came out. Adult me fell for Aerith in remake/rebirth. Tifa kind of annoys me now. It's just the way her character is written. Once you get past the boobs, her personality seems boring and a bit manipulative. She has no identity or motivation apart from clinging to Cloud. I find all of the other charters to be more interesting.
I never even cared about how she looks. It's just her insecurity, secrecy, and doubts that make her interesting to me. Though I wished her character revolved so much around the MC to make her relevant to the story. The other Party Members have their personal character arcs that had NOTHING to do with Cloud. Tifa doesn't. Her only purpose in the story is to be Cloud's second girl.

You left out the part where Aerith tells Cloud that he wants to meet the “real” him. And you didn’t discuss Cloud’s resolution where Cloud did not reject Aerith when she told him he can’t fall in love with her. But i get it. You can’t use these bits in your video because it goes against the message you’re trying to portray of Aerith only liking Cloud because he reminds him of her “first” love. And I liked seeing Cloud and Tifa together before I played the Remake. But the Remake showed me that Cloud had great chemistry with Aerith.

Facts. Tifa's fans use lots of copium and mental gymnastics but the truth is that Aerith is the most important person in Cloud's life. She will always be number 1 for Cloud. There are no chemistry between Cloud and Tifa. That little attraction they had was a superficial little kid infatuation. It wasn't real love unlike between Cloud and Aerith. In the Advent Children Cloud friendzoned Tifa and moved into Aerith's church so that he could even feel a glimpse of her presense. Cloud was so broken over Aerith's death that he lost the will to live. He also had a geostigma but Cloud didn't care if he was going to die or not. Life without Aerith was too painful for him. It was only in the end of the AC when Cloud saw Aerith again and realized that she will always be with him he got his will to live back and found his lost happiness. Him being with Aerith is Cloud's promised land.
@NordicKnight2024 The only time I can see Cloud and Tifa finally coming closer together is after Advent Children. The 'wolf' disappearing to me symbolized Cloud was done howling (expressing pain and guilt) and being hollow (not allowing himself to have joy, happiness, or love.) and was a sign of him moving on. Just as Aerith lost her first love and found new love...Cloud loses Aerith, he too can find new love (with Tifa) at this point. I think however that maybe Cloud and Aerith will somehow meet again... their theme songs alludes to it...

If I'm gonna be honest I'd say Tifa, because she sees Cloud for Cloud. Don't get me wrong, Aerith is a kind soul, but Tifa showed unwavering devotion to him when he was comatose by mako, even to the point were her health takes a decline. I'd love to see Zack and Aerith have one moment in rebirth or in the last game.

Well, I’m playing remake. I love Tifa. And I hope Cloud and Tifa are declared canon. But I fell for Aerith more. Dunno. There is something about her. The player falls in love with her somehow.
In the original game, it was Aerith. However, in Remake it's definitely Tifa. I was Team Aerith all the way until Advent Children and especially Crisis Core was released. It was really made clear in those two entries that Zack and Aerith were together. However, I'm really interested in seeing how Rebirth will shape up now that Zack is back! Can't wait!

Well, luckily there is no choice, it's always Tifa and always will be Tifa. That's not me being insulting or denigrating, that's just the fortunate, or unfortunate depending on your view, fact of the story. Cloud loves Tifa, Darth vader is Lukes father, Bruce willis is dead in the 6th sense, Verbal Kint is Kaiser Soze, the titanic sinks. You can disagree about any of those things, but you'd be wrong.
You need to check out more Japanese anime and manga to better understand the FF7 trope at play. I get it tho. Childhood friends to lovers is a popular westerner trope. I just don’t know what more the writers can do to help you understand the intended ship and why it works.

I play ergheiz first before playing ff7 so i thought tifa is the only love interest on the ff7 game cause aerith is not on ehrgeiz but when playing ff7 on my opinion cloud sephiroth and aerith are the main characters of ff7 storywise and cloud and aerith chemistry have a very japanese romance anime troupe. But i think the best ending for this characters story wise should be like your lie on april which it focus with cloud and aerith but aerith dies and cloud should have a closure by the end and probably ends up with tifa.

I don't buy the whole "a promise you made to a friend when you were 12 years old means you are destined to be together forever and ever" BS. People grow apart all the time. And having a shared childhood trauma doesn't mean you're destined to be in a healthy relationship.
She tried to convince Cloud to leave Aerith with Shinra, then tuns around the very next scene and cries at Cloud about all the terrible things Shinera has done to her. Contrast that to Aeirth that insisted on Cloud saving Tifa from Corneo before she even met her. She's supposidly this badass fighter that can "take care of herself" yet is constantly turning into the damsel in distress anytime Cloud is around. She's more enabling with Cloud than anything else.
As for the the whole "Aerith belongs to Zack forever and ever because he built her a couple flower carts" argument. Well that's a whole other topic that I could talk on at length, but I'll keep it short. OG and Remake especially make it clear she has feelings for Cloud and not just because he reminds her of Zack. Some of it isn't conveyed the same in the English version. Nojima even stated in his novel that Cloud was Aerith's friend and lover.
All that being said, this isn't about who is right for who, I just find pretty much all the other characters to be more interesting and compelling than Tifa.
Why are people choosing anyway? The first part of the game is aerith arc story. You go with aerith. The second part is tifa arc, you go with tifa. 😅

All I can take from these comments and videos is that is really is just...subjective opinions lol I can loudly say I'm Cloti and I don't see any romantic feelings for Cloud/Aerith in Rebirth, if anything I felt bad for Aerith. She is constantly wanting a date or having fun with Cloud, and Cloud constantly shoots her down. In only one sidequest you have the option to be cute with Aerith, but again the option. In canon sidequest with Aerith, Cloud is strict and not accepting of her viewpoints. But then I remind myself...I'm biased and thats okay. Cloud and Aerith feels absent till the end, before then we get tension from Tifa and Cloud, understanding, then confusion, rage, and forgiveness. Cloud and Tifa went through the wringer here and again I loved it.
I see Cloud and Tifa and there is an acceptance, a give and take. She can freely joke with him and I feel he accepts her friendly banter. I really can't divide it, so I put it to me being biased and I'm perfectly fine with that. Aerith is awesome, Cloud and Aerith are close, I felt 0 romantic tension with them, more of...a desire to live and know each other, but not love. And that people who see the romance, its for them, not me. For me Aerith at the end wants to have a world...a lie with Cloud, but that isn't natural to Cloud and it is forced from Aerith. It is sad to see both of them wanting to indulge in the lie, and it makes me excited for what it ends to.
Either way I love Cloti, but above all I love ship culture so all ships are fine :3

I liked Aerith as a kid. Her healing abilities and leaning on the mystical side complemented Cloud's physical strength and tough no nonsense facade. She helped bring him out of his shell/comfort zone. She represented a bright future to move towards not a complicated painful past and reminder of how immature you were as a kid that you get with Tifa. Zach is dead at that point in the story. To say that Aerith SHOULD be with Zach is to say that she SHOULD die which of course she does. In any case, they were both working the SINNED system on Cloud.

Tifa is the girl for Cloud. It’s the Player themselves that fall in love with Aerith.
The remake made this decision hard to me more than the original. I think he is awkward and kind of cozy with Tifa in remake more than he is in the original and the relationship seems more genuine at times. He’s also protective of Aerith as he gets to know her more making the possibility of that more real. I like him with both women. In the original it’s hard to say who I shipped with who but in the remake they feel like an actual entire family him, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith. It’s going to be hard going into rebirth not knowing what to expect. They made me care about these characters more in remake I believe so whatever happens it will break my heart shipping aside.

Cloud and Tifa are implied to spend a night together at the end of the game. She was his first crush and he really wanted to impress her when they were kids. And she was the one to glue his psyche back together.

Tifa is very timid despite her bold looks, and Aerith is quite mischievous and cheeky despite her humble looks. This creates a “I will show this bottled-up boy the beauty of life” trope quite well.
I think it’s just not the best writing, because Cloud and Tifa moments and their story in Advent Children don’t look like the love story for the ages.

I’m team Aerith all the way. I have nothing against him ending up with Tifa but I feel like Aerith was the one who matched him the best and I still think of them as soulmates. They have complimentary personalities, they understand eachother, and they seem much more comfortable together. I think that she had a great impact on him and vice versa nonetheless. :) Plus, I’m a sucker for tragic romances, they always stick to me. Cloud & Aerith have always meant a lot to me, and I’ve always found their connection beautiful and touching. Even though they’d know each other for a short amount of time, they still got along so quickly and she was still able to break his walls quite a bit. Meeting Aerith was like when you were going through some of the hardest times and someone pops into life unexpectedly and suddenly changes everything for the better ☁️

Not really, i would get annoyed with her repeating "i'm so sorry." .
I keep telling ppl. Tifa is a childhood crush. Cloud is developmentally still a 13yo boy. Meeting Aerith, he learned social skills and levels of empathy that helped him mature. Aerith is better suited for an adult relationship with him. Even in Advent Children, Tifa lacked the ability to break thru clouds exterior and depression. She never knew how to talk to him. Something Aerith could have done blindfolded and bound. I love Tifa, but again, she and cloud are not compatible in real life. It was a childhood crush, that spilled over into a duty of protection masked as love. Aerith was the 1st person to make cloud think beyond the Grey, and tap into his humanity FULLY. There's a reason Remake Aerith tells cloud in the resolution scene NOT to fall for her. Cause she knows that he WILL, and it will leave him emotionally stagnant after her departure. Tifa just doesn't have the social tools that aerith has naturally to speak to clouds soul. And that's ok.. some relationships like that can still work. But they would require alot of couples therapy. Aerith ironically enough would have been an amazing couples therapist for the 2, if not directly involved.
I keep seeing ppl bring up all Tifa did for cloud in the lifestream, using that to show her feelings and devotion etc. While they forget, Aerith orchestrated the whole thing to help Tifa even DO it. (See: Maiden Who Travels The Planet).

Aerith expressed a wish to be the one to piece together Cloud's memories because of her love for him . And giving Tifa full credit for this is illogical, and using it to argue for Cloud and Tifa's relationship is flawed because arieth helped tifa put cloud's memories together. Even in Advent Children, Tifa lacked the ability to break thru clouds exterior and depression. She never knew how to talk to him. Something Aerith could have done blindfolded and bound. I love Tifa, but again, she and cloud are not compatible in real life. It was a childhood crush, that spilled over into a duty of protection masked as love. Aerith was the 1st person to make cloud think beyond the Grey, and tap into his humanity FULLY. There's a reason Remake Aerith tells cloud in the resolution scene NOT to fall for her. Cause she knows that he WILL, and it will leave him emotionally stagnant after her departure. Tifa just doesn't have the social tools that aerith has naturally to speak to clouds soul. And that's ok.. some relationships like that can still work. But they would require alot of couples therapy. Aerith ironically enough would have been an amazing couples therapist for the 2, if not directly involved.

Regardless of who you choose (Ship and let ship :) ) it does seem that the writers do seem to have a opinion on who is (IMO) the 'poster couple' for FF7 and that MAY be due to 'pathos' then anything. Cloud and Aerith are paired together in promotional material, crossover events, and shown to be more romantically tied in subsequent media as the years have gone on. Aerith has stated (in a official short story) that while she was drawn to Cloud because he reminded her of Zack, she now loves Cloud for HIM and now, for lack of a better term, prefers him to Zack. Cloud meanwhile is so heartbroken over the loss of Aerith he is shown both in cannon (FFT) and non cannon crossovers to be seemingly constantly searching for the promised land in which he can see Aerith again, or kill Sephiroth because of what he did. NOW granted Clerith is probably given more focus BECAUSE of the emotions it invokes, lost love, tragedy, hope for being reunited in some way shape or form, etc. So yeah I think Clerith is the 'cannon' decision and it MAY just be because it adds more drama to the characters then making them happy/well adjusted people who move on with their lives for their own mental well being.

There's an argument to be made who Cloud may have loved more BUT you seriously can't be saying Aerith who he's known for 2 months became more important to him than Tifa whom he's known since childhood and was literally the reason he wanted to become a soldier, he did everything for Tifa. The latest novel confirms that Cloud was willing to do anything to become Tifa's 'special person' when he left Nibelheim. The iconic lifestream scene in part 3 also shows that inside Cloud's subconscious was full of childhood memories with Tifa. All this doesn't just get overtaken suddenly by another person. Even if you believe Cloud development more romantic feelings for Aerith, Tifa will always be his priority.
I'll go with Nojima and Nomura on this one, it's always been Aerith. Tifa's the consolation prize when Aerith dies ;)
Cloud and Tifa never even got together. The Advent Children confirms this. They slept in different rooms and they were constantly arguing. Cloud was so miserable with Tifa that he moved into Aerith's church and he adopted Denzel for the sole reason of believing that Aerith led the boy to him. Tifa was just Cloud's childhood crush (who ostracized him when they were kids) and after Cloud met Aerith she was the only woman Cloud loved romantically. Their personalities complimented eachother and their chemistry was off the charts.
It is a misconseption that Aerith loved Cloud because of Zack. FF7 ultimanias and novels prove that Aerith loved Cloud for who he really was. Her initial attraction toward Cloud started because he reminded her of Zack but Aerith fell in love with Cloud more than she ever did with Zack.
Tifa is one of the reasons why Cloud became so socially awkward and reserved because Tifa and her group of friends ostracized and bullied him when they were kids.
The way Cloud acted around Tifa in the Advent Children was a telltale sign that his love for Tifa was a platonic love. He was so heartbroken over Aerith's death that he lost his will to live. Cloud also had geostigma but he really didn't even care if there was a cure or not. Not being able to be with Aerith made everything seem pointless for Cloud. It was only after he saw Aerith again in the end and realized that she wasn't really gone and that she was always going to be with him he found his enjoyment of life again.

If we want to tie in Crisis Core to FF7 OG, Aerith's dialogue after meeting Zack's parents needs to change from saying he is missing, to he is gone (which is what mods are for).

Adult me fell for Aerith in remake/rebirth. Tifa kind of annoys me now. It's just the way her character is written. Once you get past the boobs, her personality seems boring and a bit manipulative. She has no identity or motivation apart from clinging to Cloud. I find all of the other charters to be more interesting.
I never even cared about how she looks. It's just her insecurity, secrecy, and doubts that make her interesting to me. Though I wished her character revolved so much around the MC to make her relevant to the story. The other Party Members have their personal character arcs that had NOTHING to do with Cloud. Tifa doesn't. Her only purpose in the story is to be Cloud's second girl.
In the og tifa and cloud literally sleep together if you go her route in the barn. This isnt even a discussion. Both english and japanese clouds va even said he loves tifa. Tifa is the one who survives. Cant really do much with a corpse.

Facts. Tifa's fans use lots of copium and mental gymnastics but the truth is that Aerith is the most important person in Cloud's life. She will always be number 1 for Cloud. There are no chemistry between Cloud and Tifa. That little attraction they had was a superficial little kid infatuation. It wasn't real love unlike between Cloud and Aerith. In the Advent Children Cloud friendzoned Tifa and moved into Aerith's church so that he could even feel a glimpse of her presense. Cloud was so broken over Aerith's death that he lost the will to live. He also had a geostigma but Cloud didn't care if he was going to die or not. Life without Aerith was too painful for him. It was only in the end of the AC when Cloud saw Aerith again and realized that she will always be with him he got his will to live back and found his lost happiness. Him being with Aerith is Cloud's promised land.

The 'wolf' disappearing to me symbolized Cloud was done howling (expressing pain and guilt) and being hollow (not allowing himself to have joy, happiness, or love.) and was a sign of him moving on. Just as Aerith lost her first love and found new love...Cloud loses Aerith, he too can find new love (with Tifa) at this point.
I think however that maybe Cloud and Aerith will somehow meet again... their theme songs alludes to it...

Look don't come after me but I think Zack is a terrible boyfriend to Areith. I do like Zack but when he spent time with Aerith shinra would call and he would drop his quality time with her cause becoming a hero that girls could fawn over was more important to then if he was on a mission and she called him he'd say that he'd call her back/talk to her later then four years later once he and cloud have escaped Niblehim not once did he think that he should call Aerith and see how she's doing until he recived that last letter she wrote to him. soy fan de zerith y clerith, mira antes pensaba igual pero luego volvi al juego de crisis core y Zack luchaba por los que amaba y apresiaba, pero especialmente luchaba por Aerith. Si, estaba ocupado pero siempre al terminar sus deberes iba a ver a Aerith. Ahora con lo de las cartas, Zack no estaba consiente de que habian pasado 4 años de estar encapsulado como un experimeto, el penso que al menos habia pasado unos dias o unas horas de estar alli, cuando ve la carta este se asusta de que pasaron 4 años sin verla y que esta le habia mandado mas de 80 cartas, es alli donde empieza a moverse para ir a ver a Aerith y es por eso que tambien murio ya que los turcos se habian puesto en su contra y literalemente todos los soldados fueron a matarlo.
Ya cuando Zack esta debil este recuerda el por que lucha, por Angel, Cloud, Aquellos que conocio e hizo amistad y por ultimo Aerith que aparte de recordar su immagen su voz resonaba en su mente es alli donde da sus ultimas fuerzas para seguir luchando y poderla ir a ver. Luego ya apunto de morir va olvidando a las dos personas que apresia Cloud y Angel pero la que permanece aun en su mente es Aerith y cuento este esta postrado en el suelo y tiene al lado a Cloud le da una ultima peticion y es que le diga un hola por el (le dijo que saludara a Aerith en su nombre) y murio recordandola...
Well, I’m playing remake. I love Tifa. And I hope Cloud and Tifa are declared canon. But I fell for Aerith more. Dunno. There is something about her. The player falls in love with her somehow.
In the original game, it was Aerith. However, in Remake it's definitely Tifa. I was Team Aerith all the way until Advent Children and especially Crisis Core was released. It was really made clear in those two entries that Zack and Aerith were together. However, I'm really interested in seeing how Rebirth will shape up now that Zack is back! Can't wait!
Tifa and Aerith are too thirsty so Yuffie gets to go on the gondola ride for being a much needed ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark story.
Can you give some examples of tifa being thirsty in the og game? She is reserved if anything. And what's more she doesn't even in to a jealous bitch when aeris shows up as a romantic threat. Tifa is based af.

Cloud loves Tifa, Darth vader is Lukes father, Bruce willis is dead in the 6th sense, Verbal Kint is Kaiser Soze, the titanic sinks. You can disagree about any of those things, but you'd be wrong.
You need to check out more Japanese anime and manga to better understand the FF7 trope at play. I get it tho. Childhood friends to lovers is a popular westerner trope. I just don’t know what more the writers can do to help you understand the intended ship and why it works.
Childhood friend always lose with regards to japanese trope. I play ergheiz first before playing ff7 so i thought tifa is the only love interest on the ff7 game cause aerith is not on ehrgeiz but when playing ff7 on my opinion cloud sephiroth and aerith are the main characters of ff7 storywise and cloud and aerith chemistry have a very japanese romance anime troupe. But i think the best ending for this characters story wise should be like your lie on april which it focus with cloud and aerith but aerith dies and cloud should have a closure by the end and probably ends up with tifa.

Fair enough. First play through back in the 90’s I choose Aerith, but this time around it will be Tifa. Her chest is still way too big, but at least she doesn’t end up pushing up those daisies she loves.
