Pug 205 1.9 GTI. My favourite car ever. Had two 1.6’s and a 1.9. Loves them. My dad was one of the managers at Peugeot in York. Loved these, cannot wait to see it done
I'm a Dub man but can appreciate a good 90s hatch, which this WILL BE when the current "repairs" have been sorted by Dan the man. The work on that is shocking...😳😬 Looking forward to seeing the content 😀
Loved my topaz blue 1.9 Dan. Blew the big end bearings with the stereo on full blast. Only realised when the next track came on 🤣 Swapped for a CRX VTec 👌🏼Awesome car
Dan this is going to be a wonderful car! A magic choice by you buddy, this will really pull in the views! ( I had a new basic 205 back in the day and it did 113k miles without missing a beat and super comfortable seats). My only request is to please please keep those beautiful pepper-pot wheels! 🙏🙏🙏 happy Christmas buddy!
My favorite car I can't believe it, super excited about seeing more of this, pure stock original is where 205's are at if it's being built to sell, if not the GTI 6 lump is a great mod,
Found my old sorrento green 89 1.6 back in February after 15 years and 8 owners... rolling sheel and van load of parts 🤦♂️ look forward to seeing what you guys do with this!
Body shop did same thing to my rs1800. More seam sealer than weld holding it together. Been redoing it for 2 years now. I was shocked to see what they had done
I wonder if the company who did the work would be prepared to publicly say that they think it is a good repair? Absolutely shocking. You’ll sort it out though gents, good on you!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice one Dan I'm going to be gutted when this one is all done and mine is still sitting in the garage in bits. I hope your welding is up to it as the metal on these is super thin. Good luck mate 👍
This is why cars need looking after from day one. Regular waxing, underbody sealing, dry storage. My 205 is 29 years old and has been garaged since new. Not a speck of rust.
That is absolutely shocking! If it were me I’d be asking the people that did that to supply another shell! That’s been absolutely ruined! I used to have a white 1.9 GTI with an Mi16 engine, loved that car. Full 309 front and rear running gear for wider track. Let me know if you want some ideas 👌 Best of luck with it and look forward to watching this series
Whoever did the welding on that car should be taken to court as a lot of what's been bodged up looks to be structural making the car unroadworthy and a potential death trap, if they are a company they should be sued and closed down. This will be a great project for you Dan and when finished it will be a great car and 100% done properly, I think it needs stripping back to a bare shell then acid dipped then what you get back will all be solid metal, all the rust filler and paint will be gone 👍
Legendary car. Man you got 2 out of 5 of my favorite cars, now if you get Renault 5GT Turbo on top of that youll be my hero :)...Cant wait for this build, it makes me more excited than VW GTi. I know its not your car but still.
Great Project and nice to see your enthusiasm, have checked the info on the engine ? Is it 406 , there’s one rotting on a drive in Bristol The welding is below par and doesn’t even make it to a basic mot level let alone anything resembling restoration standards Keep up the good work , how’s the Caddy going ? Best wishes Neil
Unfortunately as you say there are some absolute charlatans out there trying to pass off shoddy work like this to genuine and unsuspecting people. On the up side of this though, at least we get to see another awesome little classic hot hatch brought back to life. Great little project car lads, looking forward to seeing how it turns out👍🏻
The welding done on it is shocking. I had a similar experience once, told the seller the welding on a car was not safe and badly executed. He tried to intimidate me on the spot by confronting me with the guy who did the work. I was not impressed and told him the same. Sad too see this stil is how some sellers work.
An original Hot Hatch. This will make an excellent mini series. The company who did the repairs should be named and shamed, they should also give the owner back all his money and then pay him for the work that needs to be carried out to fix their shoddy workmanship. My dog could carry out better welding than that and she doesn’t have opposable thumbs.
It’s a late edition GTI, the green/black seats and green carpet was just some of the special bits that normal GTI’s didn’t get. I however I do believe that the early Sorento green LTD edition ones got full leather and other extra’s that the late spec ones didn’t get
A Pug that’s not be Pugged up with Seam sealer! Now there’s a novelty. From that display of welding, the people that did the work are obviously true professionals 🤣🤣🤣. The thing is there is no policing of dodger garages!!
I am a welder/fabricator. That looks like they have given it to a fresh apprentice that has never been shown how to weld or do any metalwork, to use to practice on. Shocking!! They must be named and shamed to stop anyone else ever using them!!!
this will be a good one will be looking forward to this, if that's a satisfactory repair then the people who done it need to go to Specsavers 🤣 even my welding is better than that and id never touch anything structural doesn't even look like they cleaned and prepped the areas properly
Name and shame please, people carrying out repairs like this deserve nothing but the jail. In the end someone will get injured or worse due to this type of repair.
Scum bags! Can’t believe they’re trying to say the repairs are good, they want taking to court and being named and shamed! To do that to a modern classic is criminal!
I actually think it would be harder to do it as badly as that, opposed to doing it right. They could of at least ground the weld down to try make it look somewhat presentable, it just shows how little they cared. That sill is just stuck right over the old rotten one 🙈
The standard of some of that is an insult to bodge jobs. A bodge should still be functional to the original intent, the state of the towing eye and using sealant to hold on the front corner is atrocious.
Looks like the welding was done with a firework, damp one at that, come on I want these people named and shamed, they're putting cars back on the road like this and probably making good coin from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did send photos to the owner who sent them to the company that did the work. Apparently we don't know what we are talking about and the 'repairs' are good.
Pug 205 1.9 GTI. My favourite car ever. Had two 1.6’s and a 1.9. Loves them. My dad was one of the managers at Peugeot in York. Loved these, cannot wait to see it done
Nice, They are a cool little car
@@DanChambersDAC really are. Looking forward to this golf you’re doing being finished.
Looking forward to this, 205's were pocket rockets.
Always loved the 205 GTI so looking forward to this series.
Cracking little car
I'm a Dub man but can appreciate a good 90s hatch, which this WILL BE when the current "repairs" have been sorted by Dan the man. The work on that is shocking...😳😬 Looking forward to seeing the content 😀
Would be a cracking little car done! It really isn't the best at the moment!
My first car was a 1,9 GTI. Can’t wait to see it all done up.
What a first car!
Looking forward to seeing this brought back and made right!
Great vid Dan, this will make cracking winter content. Hope you’re prepared for some late nights….. again🤣🤣🤣…. Can’t wait for this 👍👍
Cheers bud
Loved my topaz blue 1.9 Dan. Blew the big end bearings with the stereo on full blast. Only realised when the next track came on 🤣 Swapped for a CRX VTec 👌🏼Awesome car

Thanks Phil, There is another episode on it set to come out between Christmas & New Year! Hope you have an amazing Christmas.
😳 happy memories of 205s but wow - so much work. Brave man
It's bad isn't it!
My favorite car I can't believe it, super excited about seeing more of this, pure stock original is where 205's are at if it's being built to sell, if not the GTI 6 lump is a great mod,
They are wicked little cars!

Good project for the channel - fixing someone else's bodges is something a lot of us have to do and would be good to see how you tackle it.
😂 I can't believe someone actually tried charging for this!
Body shop did same thing to my rs1800. More seam sealer than weld holding it together. Been redoing it for 2 years now. I was shocked to see what they had done
It's mad what these garages think they can get away with!
Yesss!!!! Now we're talking 👍👍
👊
More of a 309 man myself but love a 205 regardless, sorrento green and gti6 make for a good base thats worth doing 👌
Both cool motors
@@DanChambersDAC definitely. Mates got a 205 he's bare shell rebuilt in white, still with the original 1.9 but a few trick bits and twin 45's 👌
Nice one! I had one when I was 18 back in the late 90s. Great cars. Looking forward to seeing you turn this one around.
Cool little cars
Such good cars, great fun to drive proper go-karts. Will be subscribing to follow this one. My mint 67k miles Miami Blue 1.9 205 GTi is also happy 😃
Good on you, terrible work from the previous workshop. Makes my 205 look mint haha
I think a car sat in the sea for 15 years would look better than this one 😂
this will be a great project for your channel awesome car that should be right
Thanks bud.
very good car , the 205 GTI is a Legend of Rally Motorsport !!! :-D
Good little car!
I wonder if the company who did the work would be prepared to publicly say that they think it is a good repair? Absolutely shocking. You’ll sort it out though gents, good on you!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm not capable of wielding myself, but I know what a proper repair is supposed to look like. This is not it! Dan will sort her out though.
I don't know how they got it so wrong
Nice one Dan I'm going to be gutted when this one is all done and mine is still sitting in the garage in bits.
I hope your welding is up to it as the metal on these is super thin.
Good luck mate 👍
Yeah it doesn't look the thickest of metal!

Not the best is it! Sounds a nice motor! Thank you.
Gutted for the owner . Looking forward to seeing it done properly though. And love the colour.
Yeah we feel really bad for him
Didn't come from a kit car place in Scotland at all? Had the same thing and same comments when I ripped it to bits
There's a place in lanark selling one needing full restoration, they're not cowboys though they restore cars themselves
No this was done somewhere in Coventry I think.
Looking forward to this!
🙏
Whoever did the welding on that car should be taken to court as a lot of what's been bodged up looks to be structural making the car unroadworthy and a potential death trap, if they are a company they should be sued and closed down.

Can't wait to see this one put right ...
We can't either
One of my favourite fun cars!
Cracking little car
Wonderful little project. It’ll be a flyer when it’s done! Always painful trying to unpick someone else’s work.
Should be a nice car!

Not chatting at all rn, a lady owns one down my road it’s MINT condition , same colour!
Sweet little motors
My god there are some cowboy garages about, that welding is sub standard.I know you will get it sorted.
really isn't the best is it?!
Great Project and nice to see your enthusiasm, have checked the info on the engine ? Is it 406 , there’s one rotting on a drive in Bristol
The welding is below par and doesn’t even make it to a basic mot level let alone anything resembling restoration standards

I have been told the engine is an Mi16. Welding really isn't good. The Caddy is still going well. The new owner is loving it!
Another great welding job from Stevie wonder motors.
Amazing isn't it!
What a gem
Could be!

Blows your mind doesn't it!
Check out the cossie......
Proper motors
Nice one Dan! Looking forward to seeing this one!
Who ever welded that up ahould be bloody shot! That's awful work and they cant set a welder up!
Terrible isn't it!

He tried to intimidate me on the spot by confronting me with the guy who did the work. I was not impressed and told him the same. Sad too see this stil is how some sellers work.
It's mad how people can defend this type of work! It usually means they know it's bad!
You’ll have fun removing all that lovely silicone 😱 criminal the state that’s in!!
Will be there for days!
What company did the shoddy work dude?
Hope that young lad inherits all those beauty’s in that unit
I’m sure he will one day if he’s good 🤣
We haven't been told who carried the work out.
@@maineautomotive5833 he will lol have a top Xmas all of you 👍🏻🙌

Thankfully Tom the owner never paid them when he sent the images over they argued then blocked him!
That's bad mate save it they are lovely cars👍
Not good is it!
Dantastic! :)
👊
is that a Roland Garros edition?
It’s a late edition GTI, the green/black seats and green carpet was just some of the special bits that normal GTI’s didn’t get. I however I do believe that the early Sorento green LTD edition ones got full leather and other extra’s that the late spec ones didn’t get

Christ who welded the pug stevie wonder? Lol 205s don't really rust that bad hope you get the 205 gti back on the road soon 👍
😍😍😍😍

I think the tea boy had a go at it! Wait until the next episode. The B pillar repair gets even better!
this will be a good one will be looking forward to this, if that's a satisfactory repair then the people who done it need to go to Specsavers 🤣 even my welding is better than that and id never touch anything structural doesn't even look like they cleaned and prepped the areas properly
Yeah they haven't cut rot out or ground it back in so many places. Some area's of new metal don't even have primer on them.
Shame on them for daring calling this "acceptable", it's beyond criminal what they've done
Name and shame the garage that did this repair so that future people don’t get shafted!
Get her saved 💪
👊
Please tell us you didn't pay for the work they did?
Thankfully the owner didn't pay!
🤯
Holy Sh*t !
Clowns responsible for that need named and shamed !
Really not good!
Wowzers, i reckon if you gave that job to someone who had never welded in their life they could have done a better job than that 🤣
I agree!!!
Name and shame please, people carrying out repairs like this deserve nothing but the jail. In the end someone will get injured or worse due to this type of repair.
We haven't been told who did the works unfortunately. It gets worse in the next episode!
You definitely have to strip it and a do a full restoration
Strip starts in the next episode
And that's just the visible rust!
👀
Wow, those welds are despicable! I'd request my money back from the other shop after getting your bill to fix their fixes. Disgraceful!
Not great are they! Thankfully the owner didn't pay the garage!
Scum bags! Can’t believe they’re trying to say the repairs are good, they want taking to court and being named and shamed! To do that to a modern classic is criminal!
Mad isn't it! I don't know how they could say it's even slightly acceptable.

Wow! What a cacophony of shit welding and dodgy bodges!! Hope you can do it right! Look forward to seeing its progress.
are you going to strip it a dip it
Stripping the car starts in the next episode.
That’s bad wow how can someone say that’s good was the person blind when they welded it must have welded by ray Charles
We couldn't believe it when we saw it!
You will make a better job on that you’re work is brilliant
Looks like the welding was done with a firework, damp one at that, come on I want these people named and shamed, they're putting cars back on the road like this and probably making good coin from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TFSI it
We have one with a 1.8t 20v 380bhp if that counts
@@maineautomotive5833 that'll do
