@ThatGingersADoktor - Good question. The half-cock most people think of is actually the feeling of the the hammer setting back when the transfer bar safety resets. Neither my Big Boy or Golden Boy has a half-cock notch which with a transfer bar safety is un-needed anyway.

@jlunit416 - Really no take down required. Cleaning only requires a bore snake and a simple wipe down of everything accessible with gun oil. If you want to remove the forend or buttstock, remove a couple screws and they pull away form the rest of the gun.

Last question in the foreseeable future, when you clean this rifle, do you personally prefer cleaning from breech to muzzle or vice-versa?

This is really up to you, however I usually just wipe out chamber and bolt area with a cloth and just run a bore snake through it from breech to muzzle a couple times and then wipe everything down with a Sentry Solutions cloth. Pretty simple to take care of.

The rear sight has a dual elevation setting. There is a small plate with the notch that is adjustable on the buckhorn itself. Then there is the coarse setting on the elevation floor with the deep notches. I sighted mine in dead on zero. I often put 3 rounds in the same hole at 25yards. I love my Goldenboy. It's so shinny you will cry when you scratch it. Ugh.

@skykink - Dry firing .22 is only an issue with the old full floating and fixed spur firing pins. Now most manufactures use firing pin designs which limit firing pin forward movement so dry firing is not an issue.

How's the takedown for this rifle?

I think I'm sold on this one, I'm planning on making this the first gun I own and turning it into an heirloom piece.

CB's are basically .22 Shorts with little if any powder. Delivers a report and power about that of a .22 Pellet gun.

When I saw my first Henry Golden Boy a few weeks ago, I knew I had to own one. Mine will be here tomorrow - I can't wait! I noticed that you were dry firing the gun - I was under the impression that rim fire guns were not to be dry fired. AAMOF, I was wondering how one knew that (without counting) they had fired the last round to avoid a dry fire with every magazine load.

Bought one yesterday for my wifes Christmas gift. Have it hidden away. I sure hope she likes it. It is certainly a beautiful gun.

I can't wait to get this in march! I have a mossberg tactical 22. And it's garbage the inside of the gun is messed up about 650 rounds, now it's just a display gun now :(

I really wish these guns didn't front load. I wish they would load from a loading gate, like the Marlin. Otherwise they're so beautiful, especially the Big Boy.

@MajorPandemic Thanks, I appreciate that - I was sweating doing damage to the rifle which BTW arrived today. What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Unfortunately, I went to the range to try it out and I would have been number 10 on the waiting list with only 6 lanes and no limit to users.
