It's very interesting that you do this mechanically using the arrows vs smooth running with the mouse. It gives you a very creeping doom methodology for grappling. I'm going to add this to my list of things to try.
This tutorial is not actual for 0.8, now you need to do feints after grab op with shield otherwise it doesn't work. Btw does your RMB method work at 0.8?

Practiced for like 3-4 hours with overal experience in almost 400 hours in Steam. Ended up deleting the game one more time and waiting for another "monthly" update for years to come. As follows, I can make a highlight compillation of 10-15 throws, that are maximum realistic and fun. But what sums up that wrestling story and determins overall feeling is a full fight, from a beginning till the end. And it looks like from 5:56 to 6:05 like 90% of all the time. Fully random, freaky looking, hit-recieving, sorrowful attemps with 10% succes chance each. Game is not really less raw, than it was year ago.

It works in current version, but to make it reliable you can initiate right swing attack at the moment of throw - your char would pull the shield slightly right and that added momentum really makes the difference. I wasn't able to do a throw purely by movement and rotation, like it's shown in video. Another trick - left to right windup would open your stance a bit and move a shield left, helping with "hug".
@@bonelessman56 No problem! And regarding when "play normally" - I advice going through practice arena several times trying to exclusively play by takedowns. You'll quickly get the idea but would see that takedown-only style of combat is ineffective and you need to mix it up. Like playing normally and closing distance, keeping you near enemy, and throwing when opportunity shows up. Shield hugging happens quite often on it's own, you just need to train yourself to do that final movement that transits from hugging to floored enemy.

His arm will be locked behind them but as i turn it sort of just stretches my arm out and i eventually slip off. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

These techniques are what leads me to prefer shield+mace and shield+spear over two handed weapons. So versatile!
