Everyone thinks the emperor is manipulated (of course he is), but only today I've seen that somebody else is recognising that the emperor is a manipulator too, so thanks for that observation. Bene Gesserit Kasha had to be removed, because she was closest to the emperor, she was his most trusted advisor, maybe even more than that, considering his on the rocks relationship with his wife. The Desmond guy (just a soldier..) looks like a powerful chess piece by whoever is pulling the strings to restrict the sisterhood. I'd guess it might be the Bene Tleilax and Desmond is a Ghola (clone) or face dancer, but his powers and the constant highlighting of the machines, the strange powers of Desmond, including the blue pointy eyes in the vision makes me think of technology (Ixians) and the Titans and Omnius (thinking machines, although at this point of time the thinking machines are out of the picture according to the official dune canon). What I don't quite get is how this duke richese can have that many ships the emperor desperately needs, there are still more houses out there willing to help out for a bit of benefit. Not really finding that plotline convincing.

For Valya's plans, Ynez Corrino must become a Bene Gesserit empress and have a baby with the correct bloodline, which is assumed to be House Richese.
