I saw you in the Atlanta airport earlier and had a funny moment of recognizing you and wanting to say hi and also not remembering your name. Good times.
17:16 well Im from Florida and used to go to cold stone creamerys regularly with friends in high school back in 2012 and I’ve literally never even heard of cold stone creamery employees singing?? That would be so unhinged 😂
Been there once when a whole ass performance was happening over a strawberry cheesecake cake ice cream roll. I left without getting anything because my family was impatient. Then I finally get to go again a few years later but they rushed me and asked me what I wanted curtly after 3 secs. I had just told both employees I was only looking at the menu. I ended up with one vanilla scoop it was greasy. I somehow want to go again now.
I know the frustration of having parents who don’t really show interest, or try. I studied music abroad for several years. My mom listened to part of one song before she interrupted about something completely unrelated. I didn’t demand that she like everything or appreciate it in the same way I do. But three minutes of her time wasn’t too much to ask…was it? When I see people whose parents are enthusiastic, supportive and even curious (!) about what they’re doing, it feels like some impossible fantasy. I also don’t drive and don’t miss it at all. 😂
That beginning about Doctor Phil locking the lady in reminded me of how at church every week the youth pastor gets on stage and says, "So, today we're doing tithe, and we've locked the doors from the outside" and everyone laughs. He's joking, hopefully obviously.
I'm usually an audio only listener. I have heard Douglas voice a lot on these episodes before and this is the first time I can put a face to the voice. He did not look anything like I thought he would look like.
There are bioactive sealed terrariums that people make that's supposed to be self-sustaining forever. Don't know how efficacious that is, but there you go
I cried laughing listening to Jo describe her book tour debacle. Then I lost my mind when you said you were coming to Janesville, my hometown, because I didn't even know they had a comedy scene because wtf why would they. Truly hoping that is not the most disappointing night of your life!!!
You’re absolutely right about PETA. The organization isn’t the best but there are so many orgs that are worse and just as easy to make fun of. Self-proclaimed “carnivores” get really upset when you confront them with the morality of eating meat.

One of favourite episodes. im now OBSESSED with Jo. I need a tiktok/reel of Jo repeating "Jigalo Island? does anyone know what I'm talking about?"
I love the wholesomeness of just enjoying a small thing to celebrate something nice.

Same here. It's just my dad now and all he sees is what I could have been. He's disappointed in how I turned out 😢

These theater kids are so NEEDY.
The way Jo talks reminds me SOOO much of Aparna Nancherla 😂
Oh my god she’s SO charming
She looks and sounds like a white Aparna Nancherla it's so uncanny
I’ve finally figured it out! She sounds like Aparna Nancherla!
Whenever I watch the Great North I have to remind myself the voice is Aparna and not Jo!
