They are named after the German word "Stulle". (Actually more common in the region Berlin/Brandenburg). It is no Baguette or roll, just various things between two bread slices (no toast), mostly good grain/rye/mixed grain breads. In former days and also today you prepared it at home for breakfast/lunch at school/uni/work with raw veggies, fruit etc. These days it can be elevated though. Take care

Goodness, I'm sat here salivating! Such tempting and aesthetically pleasing sandwiches. You have a new subscriber. Speaking of aesthetics, what are the most elegant or atmospheric cafes in London? I'm not a huge fan of the Peggy Porschen and EL&N variety (too pink and flowery for me). I'd be interested in your opinions.

Thanks so much for your comment 😊 I’d say my favourites for coffee would be WatchHouse & Hagen, I’ve been to both so many times and they never disappoint! I’m not a fan of the ones you mentioned either, lucky in London we have so many amazing options! 🙌🏼
