Hey Coders, I built a KieCodesGPT using the new Assistents API by OpenAI. I had to take this brand new thing for a test drive right away. This video is a lot longer than it has to be, because setting one of these up is a matter of minutes, but there is always a catch to it, right? I try making it work with my own files. Specificly all my youtube videos transcriptions. And this is not as straightforward as it might seem, watching the OpenAI keynote. I hope you enjoy this kind of explorative video. Great video. Assistants API does not look ready to build production apps with yet. Hopefully OpenAI will continue to make improvements. So far these new features only seem to benefit OpenAI by increasing the token use and thus overall development cost. It’s crazy to hit rate limits, especially after OpenAI claims to have doubled them just doing QA over such a small amount of data.
Thank you. I totally agree. Two thoughts on that: 1. My token limit is verly low, but it can be increased if you ask OpenAI and have more business with them. 2. I think using the API rather than the playground gives you a lot of more options to use logic to determine which files to hand over to the assistant for a given request.
GPTs is the whole software with creating your own ChatGPT. It comes with UI. Assistant API is the same technical foundation, but you need to integrate it into your own software.

Technically yes, but for this you need to
use Function Calling. I show how Function Calling is used in my other video on the Assistants API.
