  • A SÛR Omicron traction elevator, partially modernized by thyssenkrupp a few years ago, in a private residential apartments building.
Like most residential condominium towers, there are two nearly identical elevators of the same size with mirrored cabs, one for passengers and another for service, each facing back to back. The shaft is open between the cars, so you can see other floors on the opposite side through the landing door windows, and both cars passing by.
This Griffe Lumen cab is pretty simple, all stainless steel walls, a mirror taking up the entire half of the back wall, and a pink/red marble floor. Kept very clean, with nothing on the walls save for a notice, surprising how great this cab still looks. This cab was left mostly unaltered in the mod, seems like some polishing was done by how shiny it looks. The ceiling panel is a modern steel one with LED lights, maybe the only big change. The landing doors could use a repainting though, that orange color looks dated and doesn't fit in with the rest of the elevator, even though they aren't in bad shape by now. One main issue with the cab is that it creaks a lot, both during the ride, when passengers enter/exit or move inside, it's really creaky, all the time there's small creaks and often, loud ones. It has a good build quality, doesn't feel flimsy but it isn't that strong either, the walls are a bit thin.
The original fixtures were the touch-sensitive square buttons from Fujitec. The only visibly original things that have remained were the landing doors, and the now deactivated ST-99 indicator in the cab, above the door. The mod is so recent that it has the new "brandblue" thyssenkrupp logo on the COP. The new fixtures were just fit into/over where the old ones were. The new slap-on COP is basic, a dumbed-down version that TK always uses for their partial mods. Doesn't have much to it, even the floor buttons are just laid out in a grid in the most basic way. Not that it looks bad or cheap though, it's much better than those generic panels. Buttons are New Soft Press (STEPModule) and the indicators, blue dot-matrix, internal and external. The call stations are the same size as the original so they fit in perfectly. Having the indicators on them in each floor was a great addition, since before the mod, only the lobby (0) had an external one above the door, and that was also replaced with a new dot-matrix type by TK, hence why the station on that floor only has a single button. Interesting that the mod follows TK's recent trend of all blue lighting, so it fits with TK's current brandblue visual identity.
The ride is good, the acceleration and decceleration are extremely smooth thanks to the new VF-driven controller, it puts this on the same level as modern elevators. Speed is alright for the height and application, takes it's time to level after slowing down, though not too long. It shakes from side to side a lot during the entire trip, it isn't so strong that it can bother or feel like there's something wrong going on, you get used to after riding it a few times, but it's there, and very noticeable. This shaking seems to be normal for the SuperDyne, I've noticed it on the few other installs of this model that I've been in. Another common thing with these Sûrs also heard on this one, is that metal scratching noise it makes when stopping or leaving the top and bottom floors, clearly audible here. It seems to be some metal part that is located in each ends of the shaft, I don't know what it's purpose is. The chain sound during the ride are the traction compensator chains. The doors run smoothly and fast, the replaced door operator handles them nicely. It's the same that TK uses in their new installs, always makes that click sound when it locks them in place after opening/closing.
The motor is pretty epic, has both the VF drive sound and that whistle when it moves, typical of the machine TK uses on these mods. Still the original machine.
Always mantained by Sûr and then ThyssenKrupp, features their safety warning stickers on the landing doors.
    Specifications:

    Model: Omicron
Fixtures: Griffe Lumen/Fujitec Touch-Sensitive (mod. New Soft Press)
    Type: Passenger Residential
    Hoisting: Traction
Doors: 2-speed sliding (internal), manual swing (landings)
    Capacity: 525 kg/7 persons (apx. 1150 lbs.)
    In Service: 1994 (mod. 2018)

Operation: Sûr "Omicron" microprocessor controller (replaced TK digital system), VF-adapted AC-geared motor
Rating: 9/10 - Well and properly done mod, it preserved the cab, the new fixtures are good. New motor sounds epic for a VF, the acceleration and decceleration are amazingly smooth. But it has an issue with shaking during the ride and the loud cab creaking. Still, I liked this one a lot, but wish I could see it in the original state.

    • @livionaves
      @livionaves  2 года назад
