Katie I love your positivity so much, there’s a lot of gatekeeping and territoriality in the soap making community, and hearing someone who is such a prominent leader in the community not buy into that is so refreshing, thank you ❤

Several years ago the Great British Bake Off had an Opera Cake challenge and one of the contestants made a 'soap opera' cake. It was amazing and a great play on words, so I am fully in favour of this idea!

I love your comment you made about the giving away recipes and stuff and telling people how to do it was best summed up in a video from a few years ago "they're not my competition, they're my community" i wish more people would think like that (I'm a musician & artist & it can be very isolating because people view you as competition when community would benefit everybody)

Katie, thank you for the shout out! I agree with you... my first soaps were made from ingredients from the dollar store, and that made a lovely bar of soap too, nothing like what I've used before! My recipe has evolved from there as I tried different things, but most people will NOT be able to tell the different unless a soap is really stripping (high in coconut oil) and/or some recipes do work better with hard water than others (it kills the lather some and tends to make a soap feel more drying, so higher superfats are a must). ❤

Oh boy, I'm turning 36 next week and I also started skateboarding last year! As a teen I was always afraid to look stupid while learning, so I just didn't. But last year my partner just said "Let's do it!". We tried it together, we looked stupid together, got better together and now we both love it and have so much fun with a new shared hobby.

For many years I suffered with skin allergies due to soaps and household cleaners, etc. I’ve been watching your videos many years now, well before you married & had kids, I’ve bought your soaps and never once had any problems with them irritating my skin! After a few years of watching and contemplating on making cold process soap (I did the melt & pour first which helped my skin too) I finally started making my own using your recipe and how-to videos. Albeit, I did replace the sweet almond oil with apricot kernel oil due to my youngest daughter’s tree nut allergies. I absolutely love the soaps and they’re moisturizing and creamy. Even my fiancé noted how his skin is softer and not dry after using the soaps. Now it’s all we use. I still buy your soaps and my daughters have bought them as gifts too to me bc even though I make our own now I still love getting your soaps. Tbh, one of my daughters has several saved on her shelf and refuses to use them Bc they’re so pretty. 😊

I watch for Katie AND the soaps, but it wouldn't be the same without Katie's upbeat outlook and discussions, that's for sure; that really does keep me around longer. There were other soap makers I watched more a few years ago, but as I got busier and didn't have as much time, it was Katie I didn't want to miss out on the most and who I've continued to keep up with. She was also the first soap maker I started watching, too! >V

I'm so glad you shouted out Creamy Obsession!!! Marina is so kind and thoughtful whenever I've ordered from her, I actually live in KOREA now lol and she's always been nothing but kind and wonderful giving me the best, easiest experience shipping all the way out here! she even includes extra bonus FULL bars of soap on top of the beautiful samples she sends me and I am proud to support wonderful soap makers like her and yourself ^^
I love some of Marina's creations so much I have even ordered extra bars of some of my favorite scent blends of hers just to keep forever so I can still smell them again from time to time! and I've found her bars have some of the softest lush lather while giving my hands that soft lush clean feeling you mentioned, on top of looking absolutely stunning. and watching her videos of her scraping out the layers of soap is actually very soothing to me! so it's nice to be able to go between listening to your wonderful talks and her soothing soap videos as well

Lisa at I Dream in Soap is just amazing! Also, she's in the UK, so shipping to my family there is better. And I agree with you Katie, about budget soaping. The cold process we make at home is likely to be better than mass manufactured soap, because most of the big soap makers separate out glycerin to sell separately, making a less luxurious bar (at least to me). I absolutely love how you support your viewers and your fellow soapers. You're awesome!

A little tale for you. I have made cold process soap, mainly as gifts but they were still cold process soap, various oils various essential oils, various clays. That was a while ago and about 7 years since I made a bar. I now buy from a soap maker here in the UK and buy her Castile soap, just olive oil, no scent or additives, just good soap. I still buy other soaps for other people, but good old Castile is what is in my bathroom.

My favorite valentine's treat is a family tradition. Growing up, my mom would make heart shaped pancakes for breakfast. And for dinner we'd all make heart shaped pizzas together. I stopped doing this after my divorce took its toll on me but I'd like to start it up again.
My mom and I have made valentine's plans together a few times since my divorce. We go get a couples massage and go out to dinner together. Time with her is the best treat of all (though a dessert that looks like this soap is a solid third best, and a video from you is the second).

That's how I started making soap, I started making soap out just cheap lard and lye and then later added dollar tree olive oil, and was just making it for my family because it was cheaper than buying soap and we were very poor at the time and with a large family i was always looking for ways to save money then later on when we had a little more money and watching so many different soaping videos I started adding different oils and butters and then fragrances then colors it came slowly but it became fun too. I still only make it for my family and friends, they tell me to sell them but I'm not there yet I don't feel like I at a skill level that i could sell them still just a fun and useful hobby that I enjoy and that's fine by me.

It doesn't feel tacky. It looks and feels (through the display) as a schwarzwälderkirschtorte (I try to translate: black forest cherry cake, it's a traditional cake in Germany - cake is not really the correct term. A "Torte" is with stiff cream or maybe buttercream, mostly cream. A cake / Kuchen in German is just the baked part, no icing)

The soap frosting club is amazing. I learned how to make soap via Katie’s soap making series and the soap frosting club this summer. Next step is to learn how to render tallow (I am able to get suet from a local butcher for a great price) & learn how to make CP soap with tallow as part of the fats.

I have tried all natural, organic, essential oil colored and scented, Royalty Soaps bars are BETTER! They feel creamier and my skin does not get dry. Plus, Royalty Soaps bars are beautiful 😍
