Now that was a drive!!! Lots of roundabouts, lots of trees to look at, and beautiful homes. I was wondering if you were going to give us a tour of the town. Hopefully!!! That place looks absolutely stunning!! I love old homes, the older the better. These medieval homes look like they are in great shape, and are being kept up. I love your sense of adventure, and how you find the neatest places, no matter what continent you are on. lol Thank you for taking us on another adventure, and can't wait for the next one!!!
Note : - An eastern bypass of Oloron is planned (apparently for 2028 and 92 M€ for 3 km two-lane expressway including a 1km tunnel). It was originaly meant to bypass Asasp-Arros and Gurmençon, supported by their inhabitants, but it was scrapped despite being less expensive than the Oloron part. - The abandonned motorway between Pau and Oloron was because it was way too expensive (around 1 billion €), despite being a direct route, it means tons of tunnels and bridges, including a 4 km tunnel, just for a (heavily tolled) super-two lane. - N 134 shoud be improved instead, but it is postponed since ~10 years (the only improvement of that plan being built is a railway overpass (around 7:06). Obviously this plan will add extra roundabouts).
😄 Finally arrived in my birthplace! (The city of Pau.) But the bridge on Rue du 14 Juillet is over Gave de Pau, not over the small Ousse tributary which finishes into the Gave a bit upstream at the railway station.
A very interesting tour and nice places.
