Thanks for the review. Gorgeous looking RX!
Appreciate the balanced and informed review - rocking it!
This is the absolute best breakdown on RUclips as to explain the trim options and build locations. Loved that segment midway 🙏🏾🫡
I agree 100% with your total summation. The front end is a bit odd, but so was the previous model due to the overhang. (…but a lot of people bought it!) So maybe Lexus is more tuned in with the RX buyer than we are? I am not a fan of the emblem removal on any model, a course correction is needed immediately. 😉 Another great review!
I love your content. But I love the backend of this new RX
We can respectfully disagree:)
I like it too! It doesn’t look like the NX as much
Just wish they would change that rear cargo door, it slopes so much and eats into the space.
Great review! I agree that Lexus should keep the rear Logo rather than the letters. It's much more elegant, especially for an established luxury brand.
Nope
No sir, that’s what caught my eye. Keep the “L” at the front and spell it out at the back.
12:44 YES! Thank you! I hate that every automaker is doing that. When everyone does it its done. OVER finished. You do it and your just adding to the manutia. I agree put the L back on the back take the script off and just have ONE model badge back there.
I love a comfortable pair of jeans! At first I didn't care for the new grille, but I didn't like the old pinched hourglass spindle either so I'm happy to see it's gone. The new grille has definitely grown on me. I got in the NX and RX earlier this year and the interior didn't compare to others in the segment, so I'm glad to see an upgrade. Well done. Would also like to see the Lexus emblem back on the car. Lexus..are you listening? Unfortunately, I haven't found a single car that has it ALL. Lexus comes close enough for me. Needless to say, the reliability plays an enormous part. Thank you for a great review!
If he could connect a generator to his hands, he could power a hybrid himself.
Agreed. The back looks way too much like an NX. Funny at first I thought you were reviewing the NX when I saw the pic. Not sold on a the hybrid and 4 banger either. Regret trading my wife’s 2017 RX F Sport now.
The back of the new RX does look like an NX. However the new NX has a really good looking back. By imitating that back appearance was perhaps a step to attract younger buyers I suppose.
I'm so opposite. I love that they "reduced" the look of the front from the weird massive front grills from previous generations. The grill is still large but doesn't have the weird hourglass figure shaped grill. I do agree if they could make the back of the NX and RX different, makes sense but the back now compared to previous models is just much more modern versus the out of date separate tail lights joined by a piece of chrome over the license plate and below the logo. Lastly, the biggest look difference not mentioned is the front console by the gear shift. The previous generations, they have such a dated look with about 30 buttons for temp controls, cd/radio, etc. and now those are gone along with the tall gear shirt that blocked access to the ports which has not been significantly reduced and clears up everything up there. I do really appreciate your expertise and opinions, just in this case, with the opinions on look I think don't agree at all. This is a huge change to a more modern look for the better in my opinion. No biggie.
Canadian made? i need mine to be made in Japan
Thank you for doing regular cars review
My wife has the NX 350h and the performance is great for that segment; However I don't see this same powertrain being enough to power the RX... a significantly heavier vehicle.
I'm fairly certain the car in this video is the luxury trim, not the premium+. It has rear seat power recline, front seat thigh extension, suede door trim. All 3 of those are luxury only features. Someone posted some info today showing the 350h will come in luxury only trim and cost $64,750 after options. The 500h is $69,250 after options.
I agree with the design, i hope they go back to the split rear lights and the lexus logo
NICE CAR
Totally agree. I have the previous generation and I actually like the grill design. However, I do not like the '23 grill design--hideous. But here is the summation, some people will buy the Lexus because of the reliability. But with an engine that is straining and struggling and an ugly grill, well I imagine a lot of people will look elsewhere. Besides what is the difference in the NX vs RX, same engine except the RX is a larger vehicle. I am disappointed and hope they make some corrections to the engine choices, then I could live with the hideous grill with a V6 engine. :)
The grill looks a lot better in the darker colors though
@@eleanormassaro5195 you are right. In brighter colours it looks ok but only in fsport trim
With the new RX you can get almost any option but a smooth sounding engine
Know Lexus, I promise you when supply chain gets better they will have a battery upgrade for this hybrid 😁
That's what I'm hoping for!
I just bought a 2022 RX450h. I prefer the V6 engine
Top vehicle
10:00 Ok that statement you made kills me. Ive been going through my dealer with my LC500 for squeeks rattles and pops, speaker distortion and when i get into the RX loaners i hear NOTHING, no pops no squeesk no rattles. I can pump the radio up to 45!! and hear NO distortion. When i get in my LC i play it at 29 on a chill song and im beeing buzzed by bass. My passenger door card buzzes, my rear view mirror black housing cover that connects that to the window buzzes over pavement which drives me NUTS. Meanwhile my Lexus rep is trying to tell me in the nicest way possible they will only do this for so long. I could cry.
And i ordered my LC500 and picked it up new May of this year.
The center buzz only happens on rough pavement which is not by either dealer. All the bad stuff is inbetween both dealers but down the main artery to the city center. Every time i take it there they cant replicate. Ive told them to add felt which they did but didnt help. I think i may need to have an extended test drive w/ the tech. Oh yea the inside wheels which track the windows are gummy so everytime i roll down both windows and roll them back up the goop smears all over my clean window on the inside. I swear to god i not making any of this stuff up. I did get them to order me a new rear sub which i hope to god that works for the speaker distortion. "but its a diff mark lev sir" I DONT CARE its your flag ship system that should sound the best not the worst.
Odd, not a peep from mine and she had a hard start to life in the media fleet . . .
They really went German when it comes to options and not trim levels. This is a bit pricey for a TGNA vehicle with the same powertrain as the Highlander.
Yeah i agree. This joke is overpriced more like the Cadillac xt6 which is also bad enough
On top of that it’s just a Camry suv w lipstick.
Is the fuel consumption efficient?
Got the new 2023 RX 350h is there a way to make presets for FM??
Baffled by the choice of battery chemistry, especially when the NX has a smaller/lighter lithium ion hybrid battery, so cost isn't an issue I imagine. It could be an availability issue, so they can ensure they can meet demand for it in the US as I'm sure there supply chain for the nickel batteries is more robust. Still strange though, feels like a step backward and I still believe they should've just improved the V6 hybrid system, this 4 popper just isn't going to be as smooth or refined. This new 350h RX costs more than the outgoing model, yet has a less refined powertrain, shame on Lexus, shame!
Nickel works better for standard hybrids and there isn’t really a benefit to change to Lithium (see AlexonAuto’s explainer). I believe the plug-in 450h+ is Lithium though.
Nickel metal has a much easier recycling program for end of life impact.
Prolly will try to buy one if dealers don''t upcharge it and I can get it in that green. Or maybe I'll get the old one -- just don't like the front body overhang on that gen... looks weird. Just hope the Lexus ISN'T like the Venza in build quality. The Venza is LOUD inside, so many interior panels were just paper thin and easily moved with just a light press, and I felt very cramped inside of it.
8:15 Hey Lexus the 90's called, they want their sun roof back 🤣 you know i love Lexus. I own one.
ROTFLMAO!
Your summation is spot on and I agree the schnoz is terribly executed. The floating roof is getting dated let's move away from that.
The floating roof was dated when they started it (copying it directly from Nissan). It was a horrible design feature on Nissans, and just as bad as every other company who copied it.
The front grill isn't all of that.
MotoMan is there an RX 350 review coming in the future? Just curious.
Don't know yet.
I'm with you about the logo. You spend 20+ years to form brand recognition, then you don't use it anymore.
is it still need non premium gas?
There is nothing luxurious about this vehicle
Agreed. You should see my original comment
LOL
5:36 I love Lexus. What a fail. Neat feature. STUPID crap switch. They should have put instead, the the front seat movement switch which looks far better and put it where they put it or on the door card. Why do i think of such things? I find it hard to beleive no one said anything to this. OR it was deemed to expensive. .07 cents per switch is KILLING US!!!
I agree that the Frankenstein forehead on the front end of that car, like Honda, is absolutely repulsive. Even more so is the whaaaaaaaaaaaaa engine noise that doesn’t change its rpm and fills this luxurious cabin with noise. They don’t get it‼️🤦🏻
What is there to get when they continue to dominate the segment as motoman said, lol wtf. Most people that drive an RX have never driven their car above 3k RPM 🤣 think you don't get that the car just isn't for you
Frankenstein forehead lol good one
The soccer moms don't care about how this car sounds...it's the badge that is important.
Not so much this one. The folks that buy this buy it because of reliability. The soccer moms buy the BMW, Mercedes or Land Rover.
So they took a 2017 RAV4 hybrid with a new body
I think it looks good in F sport trim but is too pricey.
Unfortunately in other trims it looks like a dolphin and rather feminine. I would choose NX fsport over basic Rx trims but waiting time is 1.5 year now in Europe.....
While Lexus build quality vehicles…they are not the most aesthetic vehicles or the quickest. There are better alternatives that would save on the wallet and with better warranty.
Compared to the midsize premium SUV segment as a whole, Lexus RX owners are more often female (42% vs. 37%), are older in terms of median age (65 years vs. 58), and earn less in terms of median annual household income ($161,890 vs. $198,923). Just 23% of Lexus RX owners identify as members of Generation X, Y, or Z (vs. 43%).
Where did these stats come from and what is the sample size?
@@wyw201 manufacturers submit their sold VIN's to J.D. Power who collects the data.
@@normt430 Why post stats without statistical measures? For example, how do you know this study (whichever year this is conducted) is still relevant? Do you personally check for statistical significance?
@@wyw201 This is an old lady's car, plain and simple! And a not very well to do one. The facts don't change yearly but J.D. Power will sell you the data.
@@normt430 Without sample size and significance, you can’t infer causation. If you can’t infer causation from correlation then you can’t call it a fact. Also, you don’t know if stationary assumption holds for these stats. What you call “facts” may very well change annually.
is it a seven seater?
No, Lexus is coming out with a new model that will have third row seats, might possibly be called the TX
Great car, but only 10 % of RXs will be available as hybrids.
All new vehicles look the same to me. I don’t know anymore which is which. Sad😢
Keelagrams?
I'll take the Audi rings over the Lexus "L".
I agree 5000% that Lexus should go back to their L logo and not "L E X U S" on the back.
Agreed. Looks so “me too” (aka, Lincoln or Range Rover) and lame. Everyone spelling out the names is tired.
Jesus Christ I hope you’re off on your pricing by 10s of thousands of dollars😂
I hope I am too . . .
Toyota needs to debut their solid state battery and get their hybrids to stand out ASAP.
No one has solid state batteries for the masses until after this decade.
1946 Ford.
NiMh? Thanks, but no, thanks.
Hand talking man.
Gold standard? 😂
The x5 gv80 MDX aviator are gold standards. The RX doesn’t have the level of polish or precision or luxury you find in rivals yet it’s priced like rivals.
It may outsell those rivals but remember sales equals popularity not excellence
GV 80 is a great vehicle but still needs to prove itself over the long term.
X5 drives FAR better but would never own it past the warranty
MDX is good but not great in any appreciable way over this. (honorable mention for new design)
Aviator? Nowhere close to any of these in terms of build quality.
@@MotoManTV tell me where’s the acres of wood? Or luxury? Or leather? Or stitching? Or deisgn? Or opulence? Or class? Or luxury features?
All are severely lacking. Air suspension massaging seats leather stitching, 4 zone climate control, leather everywhere all those are lacking on the RX.
@@jp23baz33 A. one of my must haves for a sedan is a naturally aspirated v6. That automatically put the Camry at the top. Had the Camry XSE head the 2.4turbo I’d choose others
If I were buying a luxury 2 or 3 row suv for my family in the future I’d pick the gv80 blindly over the RX or even upcoming TX
Agreed with Motoman.
@@MotoManTV genesis is so far proving very well. I’ve seen quite a few gv80s on the road so that says something
looks cramped
I just bought a 2022 RX450h. I prefer the V6 engine
Resale will be terrible
V6 are not the mpg getter
Hence the resale
@@MT-xl8jy but it’s a hybrid v6.
Dumb comment .......Gas guzzler.....get the 450h+ & never use gas and has more power!!!!!......Than the V6
