Michael Giacchino's Rogue One score is probably one of the most underrated soundtracks of the last few years. It grew on me with every viewing. Hearing this beautiful rendition makes me appreciate Giacchino's composition even more. Well done!
What is a sign of a good score? I listen to Pandora soundtrack channels and once I heard that music I remembered it which is when you know somebody created a great score. I can't even to that scroll like I can listen to the whole soundtrack to Star Wars it is that good and this piano version sounds so beautiful
Indeed, there's a world of difference between just parroting a score and properly adapting it for a solo instrument, and this nails it completely. Fantastic.
*Spoilers Somehow he managed to survive being shot down by the blast of a Death Star just to get on to RUclips to dislike an amazing cover to an amazing track. Even if he survived (which I know he didn't) It's still funny to imagine him meeting Vader after all that knowing that he failed. Now that I know that Krennic had already received a warning, everyone can see that Vader would have been satisfied to choke the hell out of him for his failure if those two ever meet again.
*spoilers I have a feeling Vader would have a begrudging respect for Krennic, who would no doubt be almost as badly deformed as he is should they ever meet-in the event that he survived the Battle of Scarif of course.
"Sir, the base on Scarif are reporting a rebel incursion."I want speak with Director Krennic." "He is there sir, on Scarif." "The original plans for this base is kept there?" "They are." "Prepare for the jump to hyperspace, inform Lord Vader." "Yes sir." (Next scene) "Sir shall I begin targeting the fleet?" "No, Lord Vader will handle the fleet, target the base on Scarif, single reactor ignition." "Yes sir." "You may fire when ready."
I played piano for years and just stopped one day. I still own a cottage grand and you just made me order sheet music again. This was beyond my favorite scene in this film, I had a difficult relationship with my dad, I became a writer in the entertainment industry. I will live the rest of my life on the night he called me and said, "We just saw your show win an Emmy award and the guy who went up to accept it (our Executive Producer) held up two sheets of paper and said "THESE are the people you need to thank tonight, we wouldn't have this award right now without them." And we saw YOUR name in the third space down. I just wanted to tell you how proud you just made me, you were right, you're right where you always belonged." My dad had a life that was unfair, he was a great artist, who, in his 40s became a great painter, he loved Earth sciences and the Space Program. He was also a rancher who became a politician. He should have been a production illustrator or a set designer. I have good friends who are both. But I made my father proud one night. And -- Boomer First Gen Star Wars fan that I am -- that line, and that film was the first time I ever cried at a Star Wars movie. And then, also for the first time, I became absolutely terrified of Darth Vader. ... I watch "Andor" for a lot of people every week. You played this beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us, and for our dads.
In the same way. It's truly beautiful piece. I was listening to it and my mother asked what it was so well done and I told her and she couldn't believe it.
This cover is of the type that stops you in your tracks when you discover it. I can't even remember what I was looking for originally. Just amazing, incredibly well done.
I know you said you did this by ear, but could you possibly do a version where you show your the notes your fingers play more clearly? I want to learn this piece as you have played it.
Thank you so much for performing this piece. You will never know how much it means to my Wife and I. We got married to this song. Specifically to this version of you playing, we walked down the aisle to this exact video. It was an absolute pleasure to have such magnificent talent performing as we walked down the aisle. Again, Thank you so much! Your forever fans, Skott & Janine Jacobson. 11/18/17 💍❤️✌🏼
This is incredible. My only critique would be to add more power to the parts that were more intense in the original version. A soft cover definitely worked, but it's not a fully soft song. But overall, amazing.
Agree with everything you said. Personally I think the area in particular that needs more power is the part starting at around 2:58 (Also the best part of the song imo XD)
Rouge one by far was the most beautiful movie I have ever seen the soundtrack was amazing I think this was the best star wars movie next to A New Hope and ROTS
My favorite piece in a beautiful score, and one so fitting for this scene. The rapid changes between major, minor, and diminished chords create a swirl of tones and emotions with a serene sound that perfectly complements the bittersweet scene on the screen.
I regret not having watched Rogue one in the cinemas, and have been recently listening to the soundtracks from the film on loop, thank you for uploading such a mesmerizing piece in your style!
Each time you upload it gets better! This is a very beautiful piece and I still can't get over the sacrifices of the Rogue One squad :( Anyway, happy new year! :)
You know, before hearing this soundtrack in the film I never would’ve thought the sight and sound of the Death Star’s laser firing would get me choked up.
Initially I wasn't too thrilled about the soundtrack, but now that enough time has passed and I had the chance to listen to it I can appreciate how good it is and how beautiful some of the themes. Performances such as this wonderful one, help with that growing appreciation.
Absolutely beautiful. That song stood out the most to me as well and now thanks to your talent it stood out quite well. To me, it's always wonderful to hear an instrumental version of a song, especially when it's done without an orchestra, and you managed to capture the full feel of it. Well done.
This is simply amazing.. I listen to this every time I need to study or write a paper, or fall into a deep sleep. This score evokes such emotion, and stimulates my brain in so many good ways
I love this piece of music Giacchino composed. It's on par with anything Williams composed for the bulk of the Star Wars films. It's also distinctly Giacchino, unique from anything by Williams. This piano cover of the composition is amazing. It somehow adds another layer of depth and meaning to it through the stripping down of the orchestra playing it to just the sounds of the piano. I love it. Thank you Chelsea Comeau for giving the internet this present.
of all the versions that i have watched, this is by far, the best piano version. if it was a song that you could buy of off itunes or amazon or any other source, this would be a hit. Marvelous job. very beautiful.
Such a beautiful theme. The piano gives it so much depth and feeling. Bravo. Michael Giacchino did as fantastic job in creating a whole score that took you back to what you loved about the JW scores and invibed with his style and motifs.
I'm blown away, as a Star Wars fan and someone learning piano would you PLEASE PLEASE do a video on how to play your version that would make so many people very very happy. Thanks. This is really beautiful.
Chelsea, thank you so much for sharing your talents like this. I think I've probably listened to this at least as many times as I've listened to the official track. It's absolutely beautiful.
I must agree, Chelsea! It was such a beautiful piece of music. It could easily be used along with any video, for example, conveying some great, hopeful event or turning-of-the-tide--like a birth, or the completion of a difficult race. Love this stuff!
If you want I transcribed it. I wouldn't say it's perfect but I think it's accurate enough. I used Musescore2 to do it (first time I use it btw) and it's only up until the part where it change the key. Feel free to download both the pdf and the musescore file: www.dropbox.com/sh/lxbd0b1sxe723hp/AACP51sdiAtkLviFlikCFaQGa?dl=0
"You may fire when ready"
Commence primary ignition...
"Rogue One, may The Force be with you."
James Beard Exactly what I remembered when I listened to this :')
James Beard love that line👍
this scene has me crying every time i watch it
@@gdust6579 every single time
I dont understand why people said the soundtrack of this movies was bad. I enjoy it since the first time I watch the movie.
Roberto Centeno the people who say that probably tone deaf. This soundtrack and Thrawn are the best things that happened to Star Wars since 2014.
Hell yeah i own the cd i saw the movie in 3 time in theatre
My favorite movie soundtrack ever
Yes and the Movie is more than underrated
@@FREEZERQC it’s just so good

Stephan Mirre So true!;)
Rogue one soundtracks is the only Star Wars soundtracks that i listen over and over again, the best star wars soundtrack IMO
I like it too. I recommend you check out his old Medal of Honor soundtracks too. They are hidden gems.
What is a sign of a good score? I listen to Pandora soundtrack channels and once I heard that music I remembered it which is when you know somebody created a great score. I can't even to that scroll like I can listen to the whole soundtrack to Star Wars it is that good and this piano version sounds so beautiful
I honestly think rogue one is my favorite movies of my 18 years so far.
My original favorite Star Wars OST was "Across the Stars", but this one definitely takes the cake.
I love "Across The Stars" too! When I heard this one play in the theatre I got goosebumps and it definitely became a favourite of mine very quickly!
Best one I have seen so far, amazing skills and sound.
Thank you!!
I agree.
Indeed, there's a world of difference between just parroting a score and properly adapting it for a solo instrument, and this nails it completely. Fantastic.
Chelsea Comeau Can you make a synthesia version for us?
Was that a reference to my "parroted" transcription? Lol.
The one disliker was Director Krennic.
*Spoilers
Somehow he managed to survive being shot down by the blast of a Death Star just to get on to RUclips to dislike an amazing cover to an amazing track. Even if he survived (which I know he didn't) It's still funny to imagine him meeting Vader after all that knowing that he failed. Agreed.
John D'Isselt
Deformed? There probably wouldn't even be any dust particles left of Krennic. The beam went through him.
Callum Pears I guess he's "stardust"
"Sir, the base on Scarif are reporting a rebel incursion."I want speak with Director Krennic." "He is there sir, on Scarif." "The original plans for this base is kept there?" "They are." "Prepare for the jump to hyperspace, inform Lord Vader." "Yes sir." (Next scene) "Sir shall I begin targeting the fleet?" "No, Lord Vader will handle the fleet, target the base on Scarif, single reactor ignition." "Yes sir." "You may fire when ready."
Tarkin is lit. No questions asked.
You had to love the poetic justice when Krennic looks up, and stares the Death Star right in the eye.
Good grammar.
I literally listened to this every day for like two months and it’s still on my playlist MY GOD I LOVE IT
I played piano for years and just stopped one day. I still own a cottage grand and you just made me order sheet music again. Thanks for sharing your story! I’m glad to hear you ordered music ☺️! Have fun playing!
I keep coming back to this every couple of months. It’s truly one of my favorite things here. Thank you very much for sharing your music with us!
In the same way. It's truly beautiful piece. I was listening to it and my mother asked what it was so well done and I told her and she couldn't believe it.
Tears, beautiful piece of music.
This cover is of the type that stops you in your tracks when you discover it. I can't even remember what I was looking for originally. Just amazing, incredibly well done.
Thank you so much :)!!
I feel like the world has to know this exists... truly beautiful
Six years! My Gosh! Times really flies! I remember to hear this as a kid, now I’m almost an adult!
Beautiful, elegant, smooth and majestic. Great job.
So beautiful it moved me to tears.
This is so beautiful and emotional. I love this song and I love the story of Jyn Erso, Hero of the Rebellion. Thank you!
this is maybe my favorite music of all star wars omg
I know you said you did this by ear, but could you possibly do a version where you show your the notes your fingers play more clearly? I want to learn this piece as you have played it.
I still managed to tear up listening to this, like I did when watching that scene in the theatre. Very well done piano cover!

Congratulations you guys :)!! I'm happy to have been able to play for you on your big day with my cover :)!!
first five seconds and i already have tears in my eyes. I'm having battle on scarif flashbacks.
This is incredible. My only critique would be to add more power to the parts that were more intense in the original version. A soft cover definitely worked, but it's not a fully soft song. But overall, amazing.
Arkatox Yeah,I was hoping for some more powerful parts too.
Arkatox I will become more powerful then either of us! Ivory keys, prepare to have your notes torn to shreds by the power vested in my fret board!
*string breaks, slashes my eye
Agree with everything you said. Personally I think the area in particular that needs more power is the part starting at around 2:58 (Also the best part of the song imo XD)
Have a listen to my version - I tried to keep it more to the original score.

I would press the like button a million times, best piano transposition so far.
This really underscores the emotional aspect of the piece, nice job!
Thank you!
Flawless! This is even more emotionally beautiful on the piano then with a full orchestra!
Thanks so much!

So wonderful.... It gave me chills! Could you write the sheet music for it? I would LOVE to learn!!!
If you want I transcribed it. I wouldn't say it's perfect but I think it's accurate enough. I used Musescore2 to do it (first time I use it btw) and it's only up until the part where it change the key. Feel free to download both the pdf and the musescore file:

Fantastic! Great job. Thank you for this video

Can you do this in Synthesia please?
This song definitely sounds like it could fit in the scene in Halo Reach right after Kat is killed. Nonetheless, this rendition is awesome!
This is a beautiful cover, thank you!
Amazing. Wish I could marry those fingers.😊
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Literally perfect. Is there any way you could make some sort of tutorial? This arrangement is just beautiful, as is your playing.
You seem passionated about the piano! Awesome! :)
I've always loved the piano over any other instrument and I really enjoy playing :)!
