There are brands of ramen from South Asia meant to be crushed up raw with seasoning as a snack, you should try them 😊
Ooo yeah!!! Alpine lake views never get old..
no, they really don't. especially that lake.
Great views and I am blown away by Pinto Lake. I repackage a lot of my food items as well. Happy Hiking
pinto is one of my all-time favorite destinations. just a special spot
Great breakdown Matty!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, beautiful setting. It’s always interesting to see different peoples routines and tips for packing/food. I recently started switching to using a bear canister (I live and play in grizzly country). So I’ve recently had to change how I organize my food. Loved the vid!
i tried a canister, but much prefer the ursack for its soft sides
Great scenery and very informative video.
Glad you enjoyed!
Love that trail! I did a couple watercolours on trail there at Sunset Pass Lookout and looking over towards Mt Amery. Such great scenery and the rock formations are super fun to sketch.
one of my favorite areas to hike for sure.
Great video and great information
Glad you enjoyed!
Pretty cool how the bear in the background is so comfortable with you
its my hair and gentle demeanor
nice Fishbone cap
Thanks for the advice! Dont forget to tick-check 😊
thankfully ticks aren't much of an issue in the areas I hike
Gotta bring gummy worms for the munchies lol
100%
Months latr... the ichiban is digested.... 😂.. ..
Thank yiu bro. Happy trails!
the ichiban was just fine
I'm OCD, and as part of my self therapy I just throw all my food in one bag. I used to do the Individual zip locks for every meal, but it got so tedious I just said screw it....
i usually end up with dehydated meals, i divide them into 2 portions with ziplocks with a written amount of water required. all of it goes into a dry bag and compresses down fairly well.
I pack my breakfasts and lunches like that just to make it less hassle when i stop to eat. i dont have to pull out numerous things, just one little bag and everything's right there
@Austin Downing no...but am. Started breaking myself of bad habits formed by OCD. The more of a slob I am...the better I figure im doing...if that makes any sense.
My father used to take dried prunes for energy, on the trail. He would give me a couple and say "these are really good for energy." I liked them. So. Went on a multi day backpacking trip with friends, and not knowing that prunes aren't "just for energy" I ate the whole bag at once. This had consequences.
that doesn't sound fun at all
I wonder what the weight of that 6 day food load is.
about 9lbs
How's it backpacking with your dog? Does it get scared? Do you have to use a foam pad because of him/her?
Backpacking with my dog is awesome. i carry a short foam pad for her to sleep on
@@MattyOutdoors Thats neat! Although my original question was do you have to carry a foam pad because she could puncture a inflatable one?
@@ivanjanka2910 No. I keep her claws trimmed.
@@MattyOutdoors Thanks! I've been wanting to try out going with my dog for some time, but didnt want to risk loosing my mat.
@@ivanjanka2910 just make sure you're 1000% confident in your dogs training. I've seen so many people getting pulled off balance by their dog, which becomes a big problem when you've got extra weight on your back
I eat whatever i want as asian. No rules which food for bf, lunch and dinner. Moreover in rain forests there's no such rules. We'll eat whatever we can find from the forests.
if i spent my energy walking around to find food, id have no energ to hike 25+km in a day
@@MattyOutdoors i mean i never classify my meals. I put all foods in one bag and eat whatever i like as bf or lunch or dinner.
I've never understood how anyone could eat raw ramen , you enjoy but thanks but no thanks
i honestly like it better then cooked
It's fried,not raw!
