    Fun fact: Lin-Manuel wrote this song with the help of his old neighbor (Fabian for anyone who is interested) who just happened to be a professional botanist that works for the NY Botanical Gardens. And the vibe of this song was heavily inspired by Shakira.
    Edit: Idk why I went and binge watched a bunch of Lin-Manuel interviews about this movie, but now I get to sprinkle the comments section with facts about Encanto that I doubt anyone really NEEDED to know lmfao

    Love it! My favorite part was the wordplay. “Can I deliver us a river of sundew? Careful it’s carnivorous..”

      I know right?! Lin Manuel-Miranda is genuinely a lyrical genius!

    The color thing was representative of Isabela finally being allowed to be something beyond the picture perfect pink princess. She was allowing herself to be colorful. Also messy which is another thing she was never allowed to be.

      It’s amazing how good Disney is at illustrating a message that’s both clever and accessible for their audience! Yet another thing in this film that so many can relate to 😊

      @@JamaalXMusic just the look on her face thr first time she got hit with the powder and was like wait this is /okay/ it's okay to not be perfect to be pretty it was awesome. This scene has further implications in the movie.

      @@biaj.8864 yeah my autocorrect seems to hate the names, it keeps changing stuff to more "local" forms. Isabella or Isabel seems to be the two it keeps going between for Isabela.

      iirc Lin was going for a Latin rock Shakira vibe with this song and I'm here for it.

    Mirabel's bridge part being a callback to Isabela's melody from 'We Don't Talk About Bruno', showing that this is that prophecy coming to pass is just.... it's so good.

    Mirabel going straight from her jealousy and resentment to running her sister's hype train as soon as she realizes what Isa's been struggling with always makes me tear up.

    This song was confirmed to be inspired by 90s Shakira so your statement about Latin rock is kind of accurate.

    "Elsa was scared of her powers for some reason"
    She nearly killed her sister, accidentally attacked several people, froze the entire world, and then almost killed her sister AGAIN, and only managed to save all involved at the last possible second. I'd be scared of my powers too ^^;

    This song has a very Aterciopelados or early Juanes vive, like the middle to tail-end of the golden age of Colombian rock of the 90's. The guitars at the beginning of the song are very reminiscent to me of Carlos Vives's version of Matilde Lina in the chorus, and it's all very nostalgic to me. Also reminded me in a strange way of Aterciopelados' Expreso Amazonia, Baracunatana and others of the time.... Ahhhh, my long lost teenage years.

    I generally like these reactions/reviews but, particular for someone who pauses so much, you seem to talk over lyrics an awful lot.
