I think Fender are slowly but surely self deleting themselves & tbh I couldn't care less, they aren't the kingpins they used to be & they don't give a 💩about the customer.
I agree Fender recently have been a little out of touch with their consumers. Most of their releases don't catch my eye, but the thing is they release so many new models each year that they are bound to have some bangers. Recently I saw they have the Fender Vintera II Mustang Guitar in Sherwood Green, I'm really hoping they release that finish for the bass model.
Wow the Dunable bass is so cool ! Beautiful ! ...Also glad to hear Sterling has the Bongo bass now , I've been wanting a Bongo-6 ( Blacked out ) , it looks like a monster ! Thanks !
Dunable really makes special instruments, hope they add more basses to their DE line soon. Glad for the Sterling Bongo release as well, a blacked out Bongo 6 sounds gnarly!
I didn't have a strap or a seat to play the bass properly, but the neck seemed fine to me. I've never played a Musicman Bongo so I can't compare the two, playability wise my main concern with the bass is the weight.
Green is my favorite color, but I will say I definitely prefer the look of the red Rascal over the green. Glad I didn't pull the trigger right away on this bass, also got it 30% off during Fender's Black Friday sale
Really sad about the dingwall SP1 prices, they dont even make sense. the D-ROC costs a good 200-300€ less but comes with an extra pickup? very unfortunate.
Yes I agree, I was really excited for the SP1 and was expecting it to be around the $1800 range. Was pretty bummed to find out the SP1 is more expensive than the D-ROC, was hoping for the SP1 to cost about the same as the Fender American Professional but for $2k I would rather just get the D-ROC
I've played a few Harley Bentons and I can safely say that for me, they beat Fender 9 out of 10 times. They only thing I would look out for is sometimes the Harley Benton neck profiles can be a little off. Like it may say it's a slim C where it's more like a D than anything else. But yeah for what you pay for man Harley Benton is pretty good.
To clarify, I would say a high end Harley Benton is better than a low end Fender bass. Unlike most brands (Fender, Gibson, Schecter), Harley Benton is a Thomann exclusive. Because of this there is no middleman to increase the cost, so a $350 Harley Benton is the equivalent of a $600-700 bass. Hope this helps!
My disappointment was Ibanez with how utterly insanely good last year was I got my hopes up a little too high for what they released this year. Dont get me wrong though they did decent this year just not what I was hoping for sadly. Sire for me wins this year I am so ready to grab 1 of those m6 basses especially the black 1. Hopefully I can find somewhere that has the 6 string versions as I don't risk anything more than 4 without trying out first as I have medical issues with my hands so I have to be careful when it comes to neck profiles.
I almost included Ibanez in my 3 bass lowlights, but decided to cut the footage out. Bass wise, the Ibanez booth looked almost identical as last year. Really hoping they release an even more affordable multiscale or a Clay Gober/Polyphia Signature bass. The only new releases I recall seeing were the Talman and the new $2000 multiscale.
too bad the Sbmm Bongo do not have 4 band preamp like the EBMM version.. that's where you cut cost, but I willing to pay more for that unique preamp... and no 6 string yet.
Haha my plan was to switch out the pickguard to black, but I have yet to do it. I'll take off the plastic off the pickguard once I make a proper cover with the Red Rascal
Classic Fender. They know people will buy anything with their name on it. You’re buying a Squier affinity bass but paying hundreds of dollars more for the name 🤦🏻
The Fender Standard is definitely a lackluster release. I remember the Dingwall D-ROC Standard being about $1800 at release, but now $2000 with inflation. I was hoping the SP-1 would be around $1500-1800 to compete with Fender Professional, but at $2300 I might as well look at a custom bass from another brand.
@ Didn't really seem like there would be problems per se, it just had a low end "feel" to me. They're reasonably comfortable and don't seem poorly made, it just felt closer to well set up 300-700$ basses than 2-3k$ ones. I'm also not crazy about the tone, although the recordings I've heard of them sound pretty good to me.
Your stuff has always been great, and most importantly, Honest! Im subscribed now, and staying subscribed!!
It was such a great NAMM this year. Awesome to finally meet you!
Yes definitely favorite year of NAMM. Pleasure meeting you too, excited to see ya next time!
Great video man. Sub'd!
Glad you liked the video and thanks for subscribing!

Super fun hanging out with you! Always cool to see new brands and trying out the latest gears there
Always a pleasure hanging out with ya at NAMM! Thanks for the mic recommendation, it's a game changer for my audio quality
Great to see someone talk about the Bongo bass! Did you by chance catch a release date on them?
Yes they look stunning in person! No exact date, but looks to be a Spring 2025 release
God I hope they do a Sterling Big Al SSS reissue, the Cutlass abd Sabre would ge cool too. Those basses are so cool
A Sterling Sabre bass would go so hard. Hope to see it next year!
Cool report! I've always considered Fender overrated and overpriced which is why I've never owned one!
hey bro can you tell how is the neck feel on the Sterling bongo and is the neck thick, chunky? Is it playability even close to Music man bongo?
I didn't have a strap or a seat to play the bass properly, but the neck seemed fine to me. I've never played a Musicman Bongo so I can't compare the two, playability wise my main concern with the bass is the weight.
That red rascal bass is sweet I hate the green and black. I want a pink or red one
Green is my favorite color, but I will say I definitely prefer the look of the red Rascal over the green. Glad I didn't pull the trigger right away on this bass, also got it 30% off during Fender's Black Friday sale
Can't unsee the toilet seat on sterling.
Totally forgot that people referenced the Bongo as a toilet seat 😅
Dingwall SP1🤤🤤🤤

Wow thats a hot take ! Harley benton bass better than a fender ? Ive never played one of their basses...hmmm interesting...i need to try one.

Disappointed that ive only seen one person cover the MTD norm stockton Kingston signature bass. Thats the one i was most interested in.
MTDs are super nice. Played a few Kingstons and they had some of the most comfortable necks I've ever played.

@@MyBassistChris A Clay Gober signature bass would be so cool what a beast of a player he is.

Please please please take the sticker off that squier
My OCD is going crazy

i see something green bass related thing i tag u in it lol
You get me haha
Yay bass stuff..too many reg guitars lol 😂

That new Fender standard series is so boring. The CV series seems a lot better.
several years ago, when I was at the Dingwall shop, they were hoping for $1200-1500 for the super-p import. So much for that.
The Fender Standard is definitely a lackluster release.

I don't get the hype with Dingwalls at all.
I really wanted to like them, but every one I've played just feels cheap and not fun to play.
@@iunnox666 weird. I love mine. Never had any problems with it.
