My state here in the US obviously doesn't have anything as ancient as China does, but I've had experiences where I've gone to towns looking for older buildings only to be met with very stony silence, lmao.

In my neck of the woods precious little has been preserved and that is a shame. People deserve a history and saving places like these helps build local pride.

I've seen such ruins in mighty Shandong. It makes a person wonder what happened there so many years ago. Those people were basically like us, wanting peace and security in life for their families and themselves. 5,000 years of history leaves a lot of artifacts. Interesting!

There's a remarkable similarity to some of the ancient pre-Columbian ruins in the southwest of the USA, for example Montezuma's Castle in Arizona.
