Me too, because when this song and The Slow Rush album were released, I was on vacation in the beach when I started to listen to the album while I was watching the sea, and I get happy and nostalgic when I remember that :)
I love this so much. I'm becoming an old man, but I'm the main bartender at a very popular club. Our Saturday DJ plays this often during the early open part of his sets. No matter my mood going into the night, it makes me happy, sad, and ready to deal with humans on a ptsd inducing scale... but most of all rhythm and feel. That bassline and melody get my body and hands into a slick rhythm. The lyrics get my head right. I give our dj 40 bucks anytime he plays it. It's worth much more.
this song is telling us that not everything is going to be okay and the way u want it to go And if ur past is still playing in ur head its because u left or did something that u regretted. Its okay to keep the past and its okay to feel down thats how humans are so just embrace what u got and what you once had before ,so just move on to creating more beautiful memories that will forget ur past. The only way to forget ur past is to go through the memory that haunts you and just let go tell urself if its worth thinking about and why does it matter now.
Dude! I just commented this in an overly verbose manner. Long story, short. I pay the dj 40 bucks every night that he works this into his set. It gets my hands, body, and mind into a space where I can deal with zombies waves of the general public with a smile. This song is perfect.
That bassline! The melody! It always puts me into a flow state, for real. Once i came here for the lyrics... it means even more. Mind, body, spirit, and will are the only things that defeat the horde. Lol Being in the flow of this groove and melody allows you to defeat them with love. 😀🍻 - your bartender's bartender
One of my good friends showed me Tame Impala. Whoever is showing you good music, has definitely no bad feelings towards you. Always cherish people showing you new music.
Reminds me of when I lived at home with my pitbull during high school. He was my perfect pet, we were both very muscular, I had long hair and always wore cut off military shorts. I would walk my dog to the community park he had his frisbee in his mouth. We would play in the grass where the rain from the night before would pool up in some areas up to 2 feet deep, the sun still had massive cloud cover as the rain would soon return. I remember when I returned after my 2nd year in college, I was thinking of taking my dog to the park and how much fun it would be. I got home, I was ready to go, he wasnt as active as he used to be. He got up slowly, came over, sat at my feet for me to pet him. we didnt go to the park, I asked my mom if there was something wrong with him, we needed to take him to the vet. My mom looked at me an smiled, she said "hes been your dig since you were in 1st grade, how old did you think he was. 14 x 7 (dog years) = 98yrs old. The next year I came home for the holidays, he had passed away. I never once thought about how much faster dogs age than people, if I had known better, I would have taken him with me when I left for college. He was there when I needed him the most in my life, when he got older, probably worried more about me or just scared to be alone, I wasnt there for him when I should have been. He was close to my parents but he was my dog.
I love tame impala... 2 months ago I put "the less i know the better" on my university class at volume 69 and I made a video... I was scared to upload it but at the end I did it
This reminds me a lot of Royksopp. The effects, tones and switch-ups are all perfectly done. This is the best band I've heard since Royksopp when the Melody A.M. album came out.
One semester in uni and I don't have friends. I used to have, most of them barely keeping contact only whenever they remember I exist, and one I considered close enough and used to be in a relationship with ended up leaving me out of the blue to go to the person he disliked the most. Right now I am lost I have many things to say but I don't have somebody to talk to. At least I have tame impala songs to help me through this dazing, confusing time
Listening to Tame Impala during the Covid-19 quarantine march 2020, uuuf! What a breath of FRESH AIR!! Thank you so much for this amazing music!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️🙏🏼
Excellent song and lyrics! When we take the perspective that all of the things, good or bad, that happen to us makes us who we are today. Expand that out beyond our own lives and realize that good and bad things happened to our parents/grandparents also allowed us to be where we are today. “Eventually terrible memories turn into great ones”
I am not a native when I heard the song for the first time I kept hearing "Cause it might've been something I used to say, do we have to get lost in yesterday?" And I thought my listening has been improving lol
When we were living in squalor wasn’t it heaven. Ahh the good old days. We didn’t have much but we had our youth and it was always a good time. Back then I dreamed of having the things I have now. Even though my life is great now, part of me yearns to go back to those days. Fun times.
I’ve known this song for a year, but never tuned into it. Just usually switched the station. But today I actually listened during a storm. And I felt a connection. As I read the lyrics, I see it couldn’t have happened at any other time. I’m being forced to move back home after chasing my dreams 1,000 miles away from home. Ever since I got here, my life has been hell. Just not getting any better. But I can’t let go. I feel called to this place. I have said that. The past couple weeks knowing I’m going home, I feel haunted. I hate to give up on my dreams after a year of chasing and stumbling. “I know it’s mad I understand” I resonate to every lyric. Bad memories turn to great ones. My head was always so brainless here.
This song played endlessly on a radio where fate had it in a factory job, guy the same age as me 23 we ended up watching a series alone in the office talking the whole night shift. The vibe n covid situation was so special. We belonged together in such a cruddy place n time..perfect moments lost to infinity.
Listening to this back 4 years ago, thought it was a beautiful subliminal song. Now it's a classic, somewhat sentimental song to me that retains it's beauty and uniqueness. This song represents 2020, the covid times, the capital riot times. Was in a relationship during this period. Transitioned from a dead end job to my own boss while driving a 250,000 mile 2007 Camry but made it happen from 12/2019 until I traded it in on 07/2023 for a 2020 Honda Fit. Lost the girlfriend and many family members but I'm still on my ride and progressing through life regardless. I'm not the same person, I grew. Always keep going 💪
I heard this gem while driving to work this morning on a station I just happened to flip to. I had no idea who sang it, or what it was called, but I looked up "if it calls you, embrace it" and here we are ❤️
Life started out sad and troubled, and continued sad and troubled, and I went through life sad and troubled. I look back decades and I have accomplished NOTHING because I was so sad and troubled. Now I'm too old and literally waiting for this sad and troubled life to be over.
Everything he says just reminds me of junior high. My dad and mom would tell me "after these three years times gonna fly" i was only twelve so all in all I feel as if when were that young were naive to think of ourselves as us older people.
Dude I heard my friends listen to this and I was like bro this is like the 80s version of modern Lo Fi beats. I'm glad I found this video to study the lyrics!

Brilliant lyrics. I've been haunted by past memories and it hurts and I prayed to forget it and then I heard this song. Gotta let go.
Thanks a lot for checking out...
Really Appreciated..
Reminds me of bombing around on an electric scooter with my 7 year old in the summer with this blasting from the mp3 player with extra bass
This song makes me nostalgic for a time when I was very happy.
you will be that happy again, i know it cause i get that feeling for myself too,
That’s kind of the point of this song. Don’t get lost in yesterday.

Your comment is one of the best I've read anywhere.
Dude. That is super relatable.
I can't get over how amazingly catchy this song is. This song and Blinding lights, gives me hope for the future of Music.
A Tame Impala tour with The Weekend needs to happen.

Songwriting lost in yesterday. Creative weave of 80s new wave, lingering tinge of psych pop, and little bit of trap style.
whats trap style? thanks 🤗
@@sarahisstellina there is an edm genre called trap. Very base heavy. I dont see it here tbh

a trick: watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.

Agree!!
Hypnotized by a nostalgic feeling of a time that might never have happened.
Us Welsh call that feeling “hiraeth” 😉
Bruh same.
I've been haunted by that feeling my whole life, this is definitely one of the songs that brings it on.
Reminds of the times, when i lost time thinking about all the shit i did and lost during years of heroin adiction.

I love this song when I'm driving because all the lights turn green on the road...but now that I read the lyrics, I relate to it more.
I mean, It does feel good to get lost in yesterday.
Idk what that means.
Can you please tell me?
@@reapurr3139 To think back about the good times you had that are now gone. That's how I see it anyway.

Nice song..

Yes, it does sound like 1980s synth pop. Not a lot of spirit - sounds somewhat like Kraftwerk and mechanical with a dash of Scritti Politti.
👍 i love this i want to be in yesterday
What is it you fear? Whatever it is, face it! You won't regret it
The nostalgia...
Sounds like a song from the 80's or early 90's. Maybe XTC ?
