- Come watch Arlo make some major strides in the Grouse woods. We hunt our private property in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan where we moved 30 birds in 3 hours. Some poor shooting and some smart grouse limit how many birds we lay eyes on and harvest. There is a reason the Ruffed Grouse is the King of the Game Birds.
Thanks for watching Upland Daze and we will see you in the next cut! Спорт
Man that’s a tuff place to hunt grouse , no wonder they get away ,,,great show thanks for sharing
They know where to live to survive. The old saying that you might see half of what you flush and you might get a shot at half of those is usually pretty accurate. Thanks for following along and engaging! We appreciate you!
@@UplandDaze I am from western North Carolina,,and have hunted grouse here for fifty years , so to tell that I have killed over five hundred means nothing,,fifty years is a long time
Heck ya man! I have been chasing them as long as I could carry a gun in the woods. First year with a bird dog. Didn’t know what I was missing!
@@UplandDaze lots of fun either way , with or without ,,but you are surely better off with a bad dog than no dog at all.
Great video. Arlo is a great dog. Spoil him a bit. Went grouse and woodcock hunting on thanksgiving morning in Pennsylvania. Nothing! Have a great New Year.
Thank you! He is a hell of a dog and only in his first year. Appreciate you following along and engaging. A happy New Year to you as well!
Love watching your videos don’t see pointers being run much would love to talk to you about your dog!
Thanks for following along! We appreciate you. In the channel description there is a link to our web site as well. Feel free to drop a line there!
Great hunt . Curious I've never hunted over pointers only Labs , how far was he working ahead of you ? I'm sure its deceiving in the video
Thank you! How far he ranges definitely depends on the cover. He will also range more as he gets older. In this video he was ranging about 60 yards. In the pheasant fields he was ranging over 100.
Let's goooo!
Thanks for following along!
I haven't hunted grouse or woodcock specifically in many years. I know the cover can be difficult to navigate. However, the covert appeared to have a distinct edge where most of the points were made. Why didn't you hunt the edge rather than bull your way through overgrown and entangled cover?
Thanks for following along and engaging! Hunting the edges is great option. You will likely find some birds on the edges as they thrive with the plant diversity. Birds will often end up more in the middle with pressure. So it’s not that I don’t hunt edges, I just also have no concerns going through the middle either. I know I might get less shot opportunities, but I also know
I will move more birds. Plus, really, Arlo decides where we go haha.
yyyyeeesss
Thanks for following along!
Yep just like duck hunting vids, lots of trees and brush ……..in the dark
Nothing to see here folks move along
Apparently you haven’t spent much time hunting ruffed grouse; nor did you watch the full video. Thanks for engaging.
