I agree, I'm the same. Even though it's summer here, where I live it's incredibly hot 🔥and dry here. We have close to zero humidity to winter routines also help me.
Hey Kelly, Pyunkang Essence Toner was my gateway product for KBeauty. I truly believe that it and I'M From Rice Toner are saving my mug this winter so far! Your observation about HA backfiring during the drier weather is really compelling ... I might fully replace my Hado Labo HA lotion with the Soon Jung 5.5 toner as soon as my Black Friday order arrives. Thanks for your thoughtful and balanced skincare reviews!
I live in Arizona, too and I don’t mess with HA. I did when I first got into skincare because everyone raved about it, but quickly learned that was a mistake lol. I guess we’ll just have to move somewhere else if we want to use it 😂
You’ve saved my skin. I never knew what was going on with my skin for years and I’m subscribed to every skin channel to try and solve the mystery. My dermatologist didn’t help at all. Thanks to you I now understand what is happening. Best skin days in 20 years this past week thanks to you. You’re my saviour. I love you, basically.
I didn’t realize that about hyaluronic acid! I will be looking at my products now and see. I live in a cold, dry (always dry really) winter climate too. I just added a couple items with hyaluronic acid in them.
Thank you so much for for all the research that you about skincare products that help with moisture barrier issues. It's good to know that if you live in a dry climate, you shouldn't use products that are heavy in hyaluronic acid. As a woman going through menopause with already dry, sun spotted, skin that uses tretinoin, it's important to know what products will help with this. So far, you are the only skincare youtuber , that I know of, that has explained the pros and cons of hyaluronic acid. Again, a big thank you!
Oh wow thanks for the Isntree suggestion. The Cosrx hyaluronic essence is drawing moisture out of my skin this winter. The great thing is that it's so full of HA that it will be fantastic during our swampy summers! So I'm saving it for the humid season. I need hydration using Retin-A (Curology), so your suggestions are invaluable - the Illyoon moisturizer and Liquid Gold have made it to where I can work the Retin-A back in twice a week in the winter 🙌
It's a vicious cycle , I use a moisturizer , skin breaks out, I use light moisturizer, it's not enough and skin looks dry and tight and fine lines appear
You got me to buy the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream and I absolutely love it! I think it’s my holy grail moisturizer now! I’m also going to try the Laneige Cream skin refiner soon!
Great picks Kelly! I don’t really have much change where I’m at, it gets rainy sometimes or windier, but it’s always hot and humid, right on the Caribbean Sea, but with air conditioning everywhere. I do worry about hydration, avoiding congestion, hyperpigmentation (acne or sun), and adequate sun protection. A lot of your recommendations have been really helpful!
Illiyoon is on my list. It's summer here but I'll keep this in my for next year's winter time! I struggle with fungal acne so I'm always struggle finding a good moisturizer but my skin hasn't been reactivate enough for non FA safe products so I might try this as well
This video couldn’t have come at a better time! Lol It has gotten down to the 40’s over here in Florida and even though I’m used to the cold, it does yo-yo every few days between cold & warm weather. So my skin has gotten a little dry the last few days and I’ve been using a lot of the products you mentioned but I completely forgot what oil I should go for being that I am sensitive and acne prone! I need that Stratia fortify oil and will be ordering it ASAP! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
bless your soul for these recommendations! def gonna buy most of these products since my skin is already turning into its annual desert state lmao my dry skin will be loving this winter for once
i bought the illiyoon ceramide cream because of you!!!! I've been using it for almost a month and I must say that I really love it! I also used it on my eczema on my foot and it immediately soothes it and prevents me from scratching it lol and now it is almost calming down!! I also bought the gel version and I love it also. Thank you so muchhh Kelly!!! Finding the right moisturizer have always been a task for me but now I think I found the one lol and thumbs up because it is really cheap.
I absolutely love the skinfood propolis essence! I bought it last year in may i think but I didn’t enjoy it because it was too heavy for my combo oily skin so I saved it for winter and it worked perfectly! Nourishing but still feels light
I have really dry skin and in winter I need to use super thick creams and sometimes even night creams in the day to prevent my skin drying out. I've been meaning to get a face mist but am not sure what to get, but the Laneige refiner mist one looks really good albeit a bit pricey
I know you love toners, have you tried the Hatamugi skin conditioner? Heard it’s really good for layering. I have it in my cart but not sure if I’m ready to commit to such a big bottle. Any thoughts?
Same about the hyaluronic acid products. They never lived up to the hype for me but I guess it's due to the environment. I've been using the sandwich method with Soon Jung Relief Toner and Tiam Vita B5 this winter and it's really helping me out. Great recommendations from your channel😄😄
I live in Scotland so definately winter here. I have dry/eczema prone/menopausal skin and use tretinoin = major dryness. I'm using vita b5 toner, PKY essence/toner, alpha h vit b and copper peptide serum, sioris calming day serum, benton eye cream, PKY moisturiser and spf 30 in the am. At night I double cleanse then tretinoin and use the same two toners over Avene water mist, then laneige skin refiner, Klairs watery oil, benton eye cream and cereve tub moisturiser. If I'm extra dry I use a facial oil as well. So far that seems to be working out fairly well. I may try a watery toner under my others in multiple layers too. After I finish the cereve I'll try the Illyoon. Best wishes. PS I use spf 30 Spring and Summer but spf 30 is ok here in Winter as we don't have that many hours of daylight. I put my hado labo away until the central heating is off.
Amazing Video! Love it! I use neogen peeling pads twice in a week to help my skin to shed old skincells, after that I immediately folow up with I'm from honey mask to give my skin a big hydration drink while I'm taking bath. and I also notice when I warm up my body, my skin care products seems to absorb well. Gotta take care of your body if we want good skin!!
Love videos like this! I just bought the Illiyoon Ato Concentrate Cream since I'd been looking for a richer moisturizer, and I hope it's nourishing enough for my winter face ❄⛄ A product I just recently heard about and bought on a whim is the Hatsuyama Hadauru Moist Infusion Moist Rich toner (they also have a balancing one). I'd never heard of the brand before, but read some rave reviews about how hydrating and sensitive skin friendly their products are. It's a watery hydrating toner with ceramides, soy sterols, and soy protein, so I was immediately intrigued by it and look forward to actually testing it out myself. I think a lot of Japanese brands don't get as much recognition as Korean brands and we're missing out!
I tried your toner sandwich trick :D In my country it is now really cold, snowy, windy and my skin is dry as a desert (not just my face, everywhere) and wow. I layered up the Klairs Hydrating Water (I think up to 3 or 4 times) and sealed in with the Supple Preparation toner and it was magic :D
Thanks for another great vid, Kelly 😘 You totally sold Ato Cream to me!! My dry, sensitive skin is dying every winter here in cold Finland 😣❄️ My saviors are: Iunik Vitamin Hyaluronic Acid Vit. Toner, Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus (all Hyaluronic acids on damp skin), Cos De Baha Hyaluronic Acid Serum and esp. super soothing & moisturizing Iunik Betaglucan Serum 😍. La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Night Cream & Cicablast B5. Also like Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream, but their newest Repair Cream sounds even better. Have you tried it already?
I got the Illiyoon ceramide cream during YesStyle's Cyber Monday deal to help with winter dehydration based on your review and can't wait for it to get here!! One product I tried the sample packets of that Soko Glam sent with my B.F. purchase, and that my skin absolutely LOVED during this season and has a luxurious texture/feel like no other, is their Danahan Ginseng Seed Secret Essence. However, I soo badly want to find a fragrance-free dupe for this for its consistency/feeling bc the formula does contain fragrance and is pretty high up on the ingred. too so I know with my sensitive skin that I sadly wouldn't be able to purchase this and keep using it long-term. So if anyone hears or knows of one, please do share!! :)
The laniege cream skin refiner vs mist is slightly different just a lil heads up! I checked bc I have fungal acne and the mist is not safe. The refiner one is safe. I think for the most part they are the same but I’m guessing they have to do some minor change or addition in order to accommodate the packaging and texture (?)
They're the same formula actually! Neither one is fungal acne safe, there is a false skincarisma entry floating out there on the refiner claiming it's FA safe, it's not! Both products contain meadowfoam seed oil.
Hi Kelly, wonderful video as always! I have been searching for a replacement for the Shiseido Pureness Balancing Softener Lotion Alcohol-Free, which I have been trying to "break up" with for over 10 years because of the dyes and fragrance. Have you ever tried it? Anyway, it broke up with me instead, by getting discontinued, which I'm a bit panic-stricken about; I really need it 2x daily or my face gets congested and dried out. I don't know if you have ever tried the Shiseido in your skincare journey, but if you have any suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it. I'm asking you because I'm having no success trying to replace the Shiseido, even with an Excel spreadsheet of a few toners and their ingredients because I don't know enough. I hope you don't think I'm crazy, but for your convenience, here is the ingredients list for the Shiseido Pureness Softener: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Palo Azul Wood Extract, Xylitol, PPG-13 Decyltetradeceth-24, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Citric Acid, Dimorpholinopyridazinone, Magnesium Chloride, Peony Root Extract, Saxifraga Sarmentosa Extract, Rosemary Extract, Calcium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Benzoic Acid, Fragrance, Yellow 5, Green 3 Any thoughts at all? Thank you!!!!!! Julie
Hi! You really convinced me about the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner, specially when you talked (in another video) about how impressed you where the first time you tried it. I was about to buy it but then found out it has fragrance in the ingredient list :( And like you, I'm trying to kick out fragrance and essential oils from all my skin care products. Your videos are so informative, so I thought I let you know :D But I will be eternally thankful to you for making me discover the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream, it is all I've been searching for!
So glad you're enjoying the illiyoon cream, it really is fab! Curious to know where it says Cream Skin has fragrance as none of my bottles (refiner, mist or quick skin pack) state fragrance as an ingredient.
@@KellyDriscoll I saw it here: www.skincarisma.com/products/laneige/cream-skin-refiner/ingredient_list Which is where I usually double check the ingredients, but just saw that the ingredient list on the official laneige website differs from this one! You are right, it doesn't contain fragrance, I wrote to the skincarisma web to rectify this. Guess it's good to contrast all info on the internet :D Thank you! I'll give it a try then.
Hi, I had serious problems with my skin barrier but now I am much better could say 90%. I still have skin texture and I have thought about using Retin A. What do you think?
for a week I’ve been using HA to reduce puffiness under eye. I live in AZ with no humidity and heater on. Working really well so far....maybe have found a new geographic specific use for this product??
Thanks, looks like all are fine but the skinfood propolis and olivarrier fluid oil which have both sold out on yesstyle! I'll have to see if there are alternative retailers!
Hey Kelly could you please review Then I met you's toner and essence? The ingredients for the essence look so good! Also, would you say jkossomune's beta glucan products live up to the claim and are worth the money?
Will you be trying the new Keep Cool Soothe Bamboo lotion? I really want to try it. It can be used as a light weight moisturizer or before a heavier cream. However, It does contain coconut oil in the ingredients.
I use the Illyoon alto concentrate, and i dont think i have ever noticed any kind of flakes in the cream. It just feels smooth, with no noticeable texture. Im confussed now
I love Illiyoon, but I use the gel instead of the cream. I live in a tropical & humid country, the gel works perfectly for me.
even though i live in the south hemisphere and winter has been over for months now, i just can't not watch a new kelly video!! amazing job as always 🖤
I love hearing that, so glad you enjoyed this! I want some of your warm summer weather! 😄
I agree, I'm the same. Even though it's summer here, where I live it's incredibly hot 🔥and dry here. We have close to zero humidity to winter routines also help me.
You look like an angel.. wow. The hair, the T-shirt, loving this look !

You're so welcome, really happy to help! I'll be curious to know how your experiment goes!
Ok now I understand why HA isn’t working for me in Arizona. Makes so much sense now THANK YOU KELLY!
You're so welcome!! HA is a tricky beast in dry climates!
I live in Arizona, too and I don’t mess with HA. I did when I first got into skincare because everyone raved about it, but quickly learned that was a mistake lol. I guess we’ll just have to move somewhere else if we want to use it 😂

If only the amore pacific brands were cruelty-free... I 'm sure my skin would LOVE the ato concentrate cream and the cream skin refiner...
Can you give some examples of "HA-heavy" products that didn't work for you? ^^
Hada labo gokujyun lotion!
Kelly Driscoll the premium?

Yay, thank you for watching!
