  • The second round for the jackpot round, here the couples were doing the skip dance. They danced so hard that moccasins were unraveling...ha..ha..

I remember hearing my cousin sister say once, "I don't see why so many people are into that, it's so boring" I responded back to her "a lot of those dancers are masani's&cheii's and they can STILL move and skip the way they do, I want to be that old and move like that 2!" love seeing dancers like this.

degbnth you should've also told her that it's part of a healing ceremony, the N'dáá, enemyway ceremony

Yes, we must inform others of the cultural significance for them 2 appreciate. Show them the way. She will miss it deeply when she is away, or it is absent from her life. I grew up in Tuba City my entire infancy into young adulthood, but am not Navajo or Native American, although my Gramma masani was Mayan. I can understand and speak some Dine. Mexican on my Mom's side, Nakidine, anyways, now that I am off the rez, I remember these sacred moments. In fact, I brought it up to a Navajo colleague of mine to get this dance going at our k-8 public bilingual school, and she is willing to set it up/get funds! 😃 Hope our dream comes true. We'll get Peterson Zah there, too... Aaayyy! Our youth need this today - unity, togetherness, community, healing, a circle, all as one. The Circle Dance. Beautifully done, thank u to whoever posted this! 😎

I've been to some of the Navajo dances. Isn't this dancing called a yabeschi? I know the spelling isn't right. I love the Navajo people. I graduated from Monument Valley High School in Kayenta. My best friend was Teddy Begay. We went through an all-night ceremony with a Navajo medicine man so we could become blood brothers. His shi ma (mother) and now my adopted mother, made me a Navajo rug that I cherish!
