Reason for this re-upload: In theory using movie clips in videos is covered under "fair use" in US copyright law, as long as you only use a few seconds accompanied by commentary. We have never received any complaint from Disney or Lucasfilm about our videos. However, when these clips contain music, even if the volume is low and it is just a second or two, other companies that represent music artists will put a copyright claim on your video for the soundtrack. This sometimes happens to us when a video reaches near a million views. In the pas we have successfully fought the claim, but this time the company who made the claim is refusing to release it, so rather than allow them to take our hard earned revenue, I made a new version of the video, you will notice the clips of Han that did have music are now silent.
Generation Tech that is understandable. i though maby you were looking for more positive comments about ford othere than he is adbag who should be eternaly greatful to his fan necause it made him rich and famouse because ot sure as hell is not his acting. it sucks.
Indeed I am going to have to do the same damn thing with my lasers video - although it has so many comments I am reluctant to re-upload it (CBS is taking the moneh now though). It was CBS for me. I believe CBS is slightly more draconian than most. Ayayay.
It's ironic, isn't? Harrison Ford couldn't have cared less about Han Solo, so he gets his wish fulfilled in having him die in TFA. Mark Hamill on the other hand couldn't have cared MORE about Luke Skywalker, and he gets completely ignored and dies anyway in TLJ.
Luke was killed in the Last Jedi because it would have been morally insensitive to kill off Leia, which was probably the plan - hence the re-write. Comercially the film would've bombed and the world would scream at them.
BS. Luke was written as killed off long before Carrie Fisher's tragic death. Watch the behind the scenes documentary to see. Plus Hamill expressed how much he hated how they ruined his character much further back as well.
It’s actually really common for the old hero to be killed off and narratively the best bet. It’s a new story about new characters and suspense is hard to do when you as the audience can be like “why doesn’t luke just do this?”. His death gives the new characters a chance to form their stories. Watch Logan for an example of a hero dying to give the next generation a chance. Now we can argue that if how he died was done in a way luke would have done it and I’m sure you’d say it wasn’t and I’d disagree. Story wise it was a good choice tho regardless what the actor says
@@sw1000xgwell duh. on harrison ford suggestion he wanted han solo to be killed off thru self sacrifice. but george lucas didnt want that and rejected it. he saw the direction the series was going and wanted out.
@mark strong Yeah, he saw Star Wars starting to go down the "It's for children" route and tried to leave. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and now he has OT fanboys and girls (mostly fanboys) shitting all over him because he made a decision they didn't like. I say tough cookies to that. He's his own person. No one but him has any say in what he says or does. Except when he's a character of a movie.
this is what ford said. he didn't like how he fathered early in his life. han solo reminds him how immature he was. but here's hte thing. this was part of han's character arc. he was a bad man, but over time he matured some. that's what makes characters: growth.
TomTom651 Yeah I think he played it well. One of the reasons why I like the prequel trilogy so much. The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is a great story line
@@LetsGetitBoah i would say SW is bigger but Indiana Jones is bigger for Harrison Ford. So yeah its kind of understandable that he doesnt want to be hunted by SW nerds for his side-main character role for 40? 50? years now when there is an entire franchise which made him sucessfull where he is the main character.
He has had a long and fulfilling career outside of Star Wars, which he might not have had if he wasn't in Star Wars. He didn't act all that well in cowboys and aliens either. I have liked a few of his various characters in his numerous movies, but he doesn't strike me as a very nice or wise person in real life.
actually he hates the publicity from it, he's the "Im an actor to act and get paid, and not the fame" eventho he has the money right now, he love acting
Yeah that's a big misconception. He doesn't necessarily "hate" working on Star Wars or playing Han Solo. He just hated being typecasted as the character which is understandable for an actor.
I'm sick of these asinine comments about how "ungrateful" he is that he got to play Han, he's not necessarily sick of playing Han but he's sick of being defined by him.
I can understand his dislike for the character. Leonard Nimoy had similar issues with Spock. Unlike Ford, Nimoy managed to come to grips with Spock and even wrote a novel "I am Spock" to counter "I Am Not Spock"
I think Leonard came to embrace Spock by seeing him not as ears and spandex, but as a vehicle that gave meaning, joy, and direction to people. Similar to why Mark loves Luke.
I don't think he neccesarily disliked playing han but just did't like that it defined his whole career cause I imagine when most people see him they remark that know him for han solo and not Indiana Jones or blade runner
@Don Shepherd Lol exactly. I actually think it doesn't affect my view of Han for that very reason! In fact, makes him more Han-like! Now Sir Alec Guiness as Obi Wan on the other hand... Let's just say I vastly prefer Ewan McGregor's mirthful portrayal of the character 🙂
Mr. Ford really should get off his high horse; if he had not played Han Solo, no one today would know who Harrison Ford is, and he certainly would not have been offered any of the roles he thinks are "better" than Han Solo. He ought to express gratitude rather than snub at something that made him famous.
I hate that they made Han into a dead beat father. What a great way hero’s death... Not!!! They made this great character into a shit bag. Didn’t mind they killed him off, I can understand characters dying but don’t ruin there reputation 😤
That movie just wasn't that good. No magic and killing Han Solo was kind of a lame move too. Just didn't work for me. I miss the original trilogy that much more, despite crazy GL changing and reediting his own movies.
Harrison didn't audition for the role. He was reading as Han Solo for the people auditioning for Luke and Leia, and George thought that he did a better job then the people auditioning for Han Solo, so he was offered the role.
@@pugtortuga3406 No, he wasn't. He was working on the entrance to Copula's office if I remember correctly and George walked in with another actor (who didn't make it) and greeted Harrison and at some point asked him to read with the other potentials. He was there for about a month and read with over a hundred other actors. It wasn't until the very end that they finally said screw it and asked him to play Han. The video is on YT of him telling the story.
xerofire gaming The two main characters got payed a third of what the famous guy who stood on an island for 20 seconds and had no dialogue. S E E M S L E G I T
So... he was a “struggling actor”... lands a roll (by accident as a stand in for the other actors auditions) and then he hates the roll that spring boarded his career? Well, I liked Han as character better than I did Luke. He was smooth and he made the character believable. Scoundrel! Scruffy looking nerf herder! Narcissistic pirate!
Maybe it would've been better to kill off Han in ROTJ. He could've had a heroic sacrifice destroying the Death Star as opposed to being gutted by Emo Ren.
Veritech Girl killing off Han Solo in Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker's heroic Deeds and would have killed the point of the movie. This is what I felt happened in the force awakens. Han's death overshadow the heroin's Journey to find Luke Sky Walker. Also, the death scene felt forced into the script.
The SW community gives actors/actresses a lot of crap about their characters but they need to realize that they are just the actors/actresses who are paid to read the lines and play the part
If I ever met Harrison Ford the first thing I would say is "Hey man, I loved you in blade runner, and clear and present danger". I bet he will be a lot happier to talk to you then if you mention solo, lol.
if I saw him, I'd try to conceal my amused smile when thinking of Han Solo. Harrison Ford played some great roles over the years, but the Han Solo part was a 100% perfect mathematical match (another would be the Terminator for Schwarzenegger btw) - but how many thousands of people, especially children would run to him,
I've met Harrison Ford and from what I witnessed, he seems to compartmentalize his interests. There's a time and place for everything. When he's working with the EAA, Young Eagles, aviation in general or any other organization he commits time to that is where his focus is. How many of you criticizing him would enjoy people wanting to talk to you about your job and what you did at said job last week, last month, last year? There's more to you than your job, so it goes with Harrison.
I've never understood actors. They want to make a living playing dress-up and make believe, yet they hate being pigeonholed as one particular character. It must suck being so good at your job that your performance resonates long after the director yells "Cut! Print! That's a wrap." Better to be remembered for one particular role than not to be remembered at all. So what, if one particular character you played is the first thing that comes to mind when people hear your name. I'd take that any day over, "remember that guy that played that one action adventure dude? No? Well, you'd recognize him if you saw him."
imagine being recognized only as one character that wasn't even that good compared to other characters (some which were better) you've played throughout your career
@@F0XHunter Considering that movies and acting are supposed to be an art form, what makes a good character is completely relative. Even if you didn't find your performance rewarding, I would think knowing that so many people enjoyed said performance would feel like an accomplishment in its own right.
he was journeyman carpenter. Solo made him rich and famous. It allowed him to fly private jets and eat caviar instead of cans of span and government cheese.
Yeah because his role in American Graffiti or The Conversation meant nothing and he would never get another job after it. Harrison was becoming a star and because of that and working with Lucas on AG helped land him the Han Solo gig
I’ve always been a fan of Ford over the years as his career progressed, but Han Solo is a classic role bigger than Ford himself. I get the whole type casting down side aspects, but one should respect the role that made him a big star and unforgettable as one can be in the movie world.
What Tony said ^ Also, seeing the direction where the disney Star Wars are heading, I'd be happy to see my character die quickly without getting ruined too much if I was Ford... Some weren't as lucky though... *looks at Hamill with compassion*
at the end of the day. star wars can get over hyped. it was unique for its time. but i can see y hes not worried bout it anymore. its just not that important as people think it is. just a character
He's the luckiest one!! Carrie Fisher never did anything of note again, other than a few (very) supporting roles. Hamill was so typecast that the only way for him to find meaningful work would be to voice the character of an animated series so people wouldn't see his face. Ford had the Indiana Jones movies come up right at the same time, along with Blade Runner as the video mentions. He also appeared in myriad other films over the years, some bad, some good. He was the least typecast of the 3 by a country mile...and had a career that Mark and Carrie could only have dreamed. So really, STFU Harrison.. take your $20M for minor role in a blockbuster movie and head back to your mansion !!
"He is never going to get the phone call asking him to play the character again in another movie" Jj Abrams while shooting Rise of Skywalker: Yeah about that....
He's just tired of Han Solo being his defining role. He's exhuasted of having constant fans and people wanting to interveiw him or get an autograph. I don't blame him for not wanting to talk about, or even like Star Wars. Of course he appreciates what Star Wars did for his career, he just doesn't want to be known for ONLY Star Wars.
In a way, I understand his dislike of the character. He is an actor, he wants to express his art in film in so many ways. Does that sound like the type of guy who would want to be typecasted into a single character until the day he dies? When he wants to do something more but all we can see of him is Han Solo? That has to be frustrating for the man who has already aged, with all due respect.
yeah he seems more passionate on indi and blade runner character compare to star wars... i agree with him if he felt han character not interesting to him...
Laura J. I understand him in a way as well. Star Wars did make him an instant huge star but it also destroyed the careers of other actors, who were blamed for ruining it. I'm talking about the prequels like Hayden Christensen and the child actor who played young Anakin (forgot his name) who was ridiculed and got death threats by hardcore fans, now he is grown up and a mess! Christensen never recovered from the prequels as an actor as well, he is basically blacklisted in Hollywood. When he got the role, he maybe felt like he was the luckiest guy in the world and now I'm sure he regrets it deeply to have taken the role. The prequels also almost destroyed Natalie Portman's career. I think with all this in mind Harrison Ford just got very bitter not only about himself, but what this franchise did to his fellow actors. That's why I think he is so upset and warned Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. I think he took the money for his appearance not because he is greedy, as I'm sure he is financially doing more than fine, but as compensation he thinks he deserves for being typecast in many movies, most of his career actually. As an actor it is incredibly frustrating to be typecast and play similar characters in many movies and it all started for him with Star Wars. But this is just a theory. I agree that Mark Hamill had it worse and Ford saw this as well.
Like I said in the original upload: He comes across as quite the ingrate. He lands one of the most beloved and iconic roles in sci-fi history and he complains. People would sell their souls for the career he's had.
I always love how these actors hate what gave them a leg up in life.... There are far worse movie scripts than StarWars. StarWars was Great for it's time and the fact that StarWars was one of the main films/series that really opened up the SciFi Era
Imagine doodling a picture on a napkin while waiting for your food, and everyone really likes it for some reason. Now imagine putting your heart and soul into an actual sketch on real paper, but nobody cares and they just keep bringing up the napkin doodle for the next 30 years. That's how he feels about Han. To him, Han is an unmovable giant that towers over even his best roles. He had no passion for the character, yet everything Ford does is almost always overshadowed by him. He probably doesn't feel like the role boosted his career at all, because Han is always the first thing anyone talks about when referring to it.
People might mistake him as a sellout, I I for one think it’s a breath of fresh air to have an actor not want to overcome their stay. He knows how to play a character well, and he knows when that character’s time is up. If Han didn’t get killed in TFA, he might have left or asked for more money, and honestly so would i lol. I’m tired of companies stretching out their use of characters just for a bit of extra cash
Wrong... He was working in George Lucas' office, hanging a door and doing some repairs, not working on the Star Wars set. He was hired to read the part of Han and help with auditions. As Other actors read for Luke or Leia, Harrison read the Han part. He eventually proved to be the best Han as his performance beat out all the hopeful actors who formally auditioned for Han Solo.
He doesn't hate Han Solo. He knew that this character can't be played forever because it will stop being so interesting in the future canon movies. And by the way this will make Ford the ultimate, favorite Han Solo face forever (including the future SW movies).
well that's the problem with a huge chunck of mouthbreathing so called SW fans. they believe SW should be a never ending gritty, dark war diary. they can't accept the fact that it's a fairy tale told in 3 movies, and that's the end of it.
Ye I think you’re right but I think he was also annoyed by it how big his role was. While it was great, it had to have gotten so aggravating where everywhere you went everyone is asking about his role as Han more than any other role. It’s like if you write books and created a great number of amazing series but one got super duper popular and no one wants to ask questions about your other works, only the super duper popular one you made a few decades ago. I can assure you that while it *IS* a good thing, you would get a little pissed about it sometimes
"well atleast now he can sleep properly without ever having to play the role of han solo in another star wars movie evr again" The rise of skywalker:there is another
Question - would he have been cast in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" if not for his appearance as Han Solo? When you look at his career prior, he was rapidly passing the "a star discovered" phase and firmly on track to being a perpetual B-list actor.
It's possible I missed something but he beat out seriously famous people to play Han Solo and he is brilliant! I would argue that he would have become famous without Han Solo but would Han Solo be famous without him?
Ford was hardly type caste. He played a large variety of roles, from the great Indiana Jones, to the president of the United States (Air Force One), to an escaped convict (The Fugitive) to a dull boring killer (What Lies Beneath). He played Han Solo exactly 5 times to my knowledge: A New Hope, The Star Wars Holiday Special, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens. That's hardly being type cast. For what ever reason he despised Han and is happy the character is dead. I'm glad that he's happy, I guess, but if I could request one thing from Harrison Ford, it would be that he never ever play Indiana Jones again either. Stepping back into the role was the worst thing for that character, as Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is easily the worst of those movies. The Last Crusade ended things perfectly with a nice bow and there was no need or reason for a fourth movie.
@@kansmaluutshn9055 The irony is that private collections are essentially museums. Not sure why he thinks because some organization profits from others viewing the item its somehow better off.
03:32 - I wish actors like Alec Guiness and Ford had realised / would realise the audience these characters have. Yes, they might have played more interesting and challenging roles, but for someone like Alec Guiness, kids of the 80s were not interested in black & white comedies of the 50s. Kids aren't interested in Shakespeare. Obi-Wan caught their imagination and will always be special in a way no other role will. Plus, if you meet these people at Comic Con and they charge over £100 for an autograph, as much as you'd like to get multiple movies signed you have to prioritize and get one signed photo that is most important, and that is likely Star Wars. I'd love to tell Mark Hamill I loved his voice acting in things like Regular Show, but if I have ONE chance to get ONE thing signed I'm gonna go with a Luke Skywalker photo.
Thought I'd add a correction... Harrison was asked to do readings with the auditioning actors. As they continued, Lucas realized that Harrison read the parts better than the auditioning actors. At least, he felt that he encompassed the character better.
"Uh, had a slight weapons malfunction... but, uh, everything's perfectly alright now, we're fine, we're all... fine... here... now. Thank you. How are you?" now imagine that uttered by Snake Plissken... Kurt Russel would have been a great spacer but not as incredible as this combination of poised/quirky and whacky as Hans Solo
Dude, you GOT to get some inaccuracies straight before posting!!! Firstly, Lucas was going to kill Han Solo off at the END of Empire Strikes Back, not Jedi. Harrison Ford was more than on-board, but Lucas then got some feedback that people liked the character, so he decided to just "freeze" Han, so he could return for Jedi. Ford was disappointed in this, but went along. He was finally happy (tongue in cheek) when they killed off Han in The Force Awakens, but he doesn't HATE Han Solo. Han Solo led to roles for him in Witness (that MADE his dramatic career), Blade Runner, and of course Indiana Jones. But Ford NEVER hated Han Solo, just liked other roles. Secondly, you showed a clip from the David Letterman show that leads us to believe that Ford was upset and stormed off set. FAKE NEWS!!!! Actors that appeared on David Letterman in the early 80s OFTEN left RIGHT AFTER the interview as shown because they have to catch a quick flight out. This was common on David Letterman and Johnny Carson in the early 80s. I remember! Thirdly, this is ALL a running joke by Harrison Ford. Again, Han is not his favorite role, but he is proud that it made him famous and landed him a LOT of pesos. His comment about Daisy Ridley and John B. was AGAIN tongue and cheek, not hate. They are NOW famous because of Star Wars and can now get other roles they had no shot at!!!!! That is what pretty much took Ford from an unknown into his own stardom. He can't be MAD at that!!!
Robert Beige , in the end he never did get type casted at all, did he? Was pretty much the end of the line for Hollywood movies for the rest of the cast, he did well because of his talent.
For 30 years Han, I mean Harrison, found himself wide awake at night with a knot in his stomach. Fearing the phone call from George where he would request him to come back as Han Solo. It became an obsession, sometimes he almost wanted that phone call, sometimes he screamed at his wife. Then in 2012 he was unable to sleep once again and the phone finally went off. He started to panic, thought to himself what to say, how to best decline the offer. He reached for the phone, took a deep breath and answered "Han speaking". And the rest is history.
Even though Han's character is cool, if you analyze it coldly, it's true what Harrison Fords says: it doesn't have much depth. Although thisis understandable, I still would've liked Han to live on, or at least go down like a man, that is, fighting.
He did go down like a man. He confronted his son balls deep in enemy territory. His son, an emotionally unstable, ultra powerful space wizard, with he himself being just an ordinary guy. That would take serious stones bro
I agree with you that his death scene is badly written. In fact it I would go much further in saying that this scene proved that the new trilogy was going to suck because it showed that the people at the helm didn’t care about the characters. But I disagree that the character has no depth. Solo is one of the most beloved action heroes all time as well as a terrific flawed anti-hero. I think that maybe he meant that he wasn’t allowed to play the character with as much depth as he wanted to. That would be a fair criticism. However, there is plenty of substance there to build an even more three dimensional character.
Harrison couldn't escape the character, the public only saw him as Han when he was also Indiana and others but all other roles got drowned by the juggernaut of Star Wars. Understandable.
I remember my girlfriend and I were in store at the mall where they sold movie posters and such and the subject of Harrison Ford came up. The guy at the counter told us that Harrison Ford doesn't like to talk about Han Solo but really enjoys talking about Indiana Jones. I can believe that. Indiana Jones and Han Solo are very different characters.
His reasoning for not liking Han Solo is stupid. He loves to tell a story about how a movie producer once showed him a scene from a movie where Tony Curtis was playing a bellhop. The producer tells Ford "when you see Tony Curtis in that role, you can tell he's going to be a star." Ford replies "I thought you were supposed to see a bellhop." What he meant by that was the performance is what was important. Well if that's true, then he should have no problem with Han Solo, because apparently it's the work, not the stardom that matters. Who cares if people know him for that? He's basically been able to pick whatever movie wants for over 30 years. It didn't limit him in any way . So if he has a problem with Han, it's because of ego and nothing else.
This sort of argument seems to be a trend. It seems obvious to that you don't have to a love a job you're doing, to care about doing your best in it's execution. And you can have mixed feelings for being lauded for your role, while thinking you'd have rather been lauded for something you felt was more important.
Jack Dingler - Define "important" for an actor. You make a living playing other people. Ford's misgivings were because "I was a good carpenter" wanted to be an artiste. If you want to that as an actor, what you don't do is judge roles by what they inspire in you, but in others. He never went back to being a carpenter, so obviously Star Wars gave him what he wanted. That he's embarrassed or unhappy has everything to do with his ego.
Harrison Ford had said in several interviews that he didn't hate the character of Han Solo, just that he didn't want to be known for only 'that' character, which is odd seeing that he's also known for 'another' character- Indiana Jones- of which the next film will hit theaters this summer. The difference between Lucas and Disney, is that Lucas wasn't willing to kill off Han in 'The Empire Strikes Back', where as Disney and J.J. Abrams was willing to grant Harrison's request.
oh god, I feel so sorry for a person that a played a main character, in one of the greatest movies ever. if Harrison wanted to, why didn't he just say "no" to the part? in Hollywood, you almost have to be type casted, or you will not make it. Christian Bale and Robert Denerio could play various parts, but they are the few that did; every other successful actor had to pretty much play same character in each movie: Samuel Jackson, Tommy Lee Jones, Arnold Swartzenneger, Sylvester Stallone, etc.
That's how I got introduced to him as a child, I was about 7-8 when I saw Indiana Jones and that's how I always see him. I was about 10 or something when I saw Star Wars and I didn't even know he was in there, I mean he did look much different of course.
really he was known for other roles besides star wars lol blade runner, witness, indiana jones, air force one and apocalpyse now? should we pretend those films didnt exist.
mark strong Of course we wouldn’t forget his roles in other amazing films, but playing Han Solo is literally the role that kick started his career, without that role he would more likely probably wouldn’t get play his other roles in his other movies. But who knows, maybe he would get them if he didn’t play as Han Solo. The fact is without him playing Han he wouldn’t become the famous Harrison Ford as we know today.
@@gigie.x.1831 Just because it was the role that kick started his career doesn't mean he has to like the character his entire life. I think he was just frustrated by people's obsession with Han. Imagine being asked about Star Wars over and over again, when I'm sure that he had other roles in movies that he'd much rather talk about.
It’s funny because you’re still unknown too. If he wants to hate the movie he can his job is to act not embody the fucking character it’s a job and once that jobs done he gets paid and leaves. Fucking moron
he wouldve gotten them regardless of star wars. and besides hes an actor he can speak his mind on what he thought of his character anyway he likes. who are you to judge him? you dont know him idiot. star wars isnt as special as people think it is. theres plenty of movies that came out during the time as well that are just as good or even better than star wars.
@Goku sama Kakarotto I respect it, but I also respect that Ford is not just Han Solo or just Indiana Jones. He's a person. A living being. And your saying he should be grateful to us for getting the role that made him famous? No, that's stupid and a little petty if you ask me. We should celebrate everything he's done, not just the one thing that got him famous in the first place.
I don't blame Harrison Ford. From his perspective, Star Wars was a job to pay the bills in his career choice. His career took off and he's thinking the second movie left off with a good ending to his character. Then because of the Lucas' desire to sell more due to toy sells, the character isn't killed off and he keeps on being asked about it.
Catie F Lucas didn’t kill off Han because he didn’t want any of his leads to die, the response he gave Harrison was just George blowing smoke up his ass.
I don't understand why you say that Harrison ford left in the middle of the interview with abc like he didn't like talking about star wars, it is the host just saying it is finis Oo?
Ford, in more recent years, has been willingly involved in Star Wars events, signalling a certain softening towards the franchise. He even cameoed in "The Rise of Skywalker".
Han is one of my favorite characters. Han was one of the most believably real people in character and out of character that I know, Han Solo is an Everyman a Common Man's Hero: a Patriarch, an Honest Man, a Master Pilot, a True Friend and a Cool Older Brother, the roles this one man exemplifies dizzyingly boggles my mind, please Love Han Solo, he is as real as The Force.
To be honest, even though I consider myself a hardcore Star Wars fan, I've always preferred Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones than as Han Solo. I felt Indiana was more interesting, and it showed multiple dynamics of his acting skills. Han Solo wasn't a bad character, but he wasn't exactly complex like Indie. I love how Indie is essentially a college professor nerd who is also an adventurous badass.
Except Harrison is known as Han, Indy and Deckard among other characters, I can't speak for others but when I see him in a movie I say eww harrison Ford is in it this could be good, not something like eww han Solo is in it...... guy has done a ton of movies, Witness, Presumed Innocent, Patriot Games & The Fugitive among many others....sorry but the guy became a major star cus of SW and went on to do a lot of mainstream roles in really good movies which rose his star meter even higher....unlike a lot of actors he seems like a normal guy, not some superstar which he is lol basically I mean he handles fame well
I can understand Harrison Ford. To much work can obviously be... to much work. The part i dislike is that he was committed, and then wanted to quit when star wars got to popular.
Bill Nunamaker being recognized is cool. but being recognized for one thing and one thing only time after time even when you’re trying to branch out? it’s not pleasant after a while
A very good point - but if that recognition continues to feed and clothe you while doing what you like to do, it seems you should be thankful. There are a lot of talented actors out there that would be happy to be in that situation...
Blade Runner and Indiana Jones are also truly great movies. Especially Blade Runner is very deep and poetic and dark throughout, while Star Wars can be pretty totally over the top and childish at times, especially the third movie. So I get why he wants to be remembered more for that movie maybe. And I don't know how many movies he did, but it sucks when most of the fan interaction you have is about 3 movies. I bet tons of people like all his other movies, too, it's just that star wars has so many fans still today, because that turned into such a big franchise. Star Wars also has a ton of hard core fans I think.
Alicia Cyberstone "Harrison who is a globalist and supports fascism" What utter nonsense. Get your lazy behind to Stormfront (a white supremacist website home to people who abide by the core tenets of fascism - i.e. national pride, national traditions and hierarchical society) and see what their beliefs on globalism is. To them it's a zionist (Jewish) conspiracy to mix up nations and people to serve the globalist (a jewish invention according to them) agenda. Listen cretin. We're living in a global world. You can't change that fact. Unless Harrison supports wars to solve crises and speaks for stricter more militaristic ideals and believes that a nation is defined by its history, pride and fiercely loyal people (of one ethnic group obviously) he's not a fascist. So either you're a white supremacist yourself who hates Jews - and Harrison Ford comes from a Jewish background - or you're another tinfoil hat who arbitrarily put people into all kinds of absurd brackets because that's some equally demented has told you. Most likely you have watched too much Alex Jones and other tinfoil hats. "I think Han would and should hate Harrison". "Han is a lot more real to me" He's a fictional character. Not real. You making it seem *personal* shoots what little credibility you have left to he*l. Why are you so upset if an actor doesn't like his fictional character? Why is it always the polarized extremes with you fanatics? Why can't you frickin' grow up and not take everything so seriously - least of all a FICTIONAL character. What's wrong with you nerds?

My mom keeps track of stuff like that, she was telling me one day he was pissed at how he died, (I was to now that I think about it).

I think Leonard came to embrace Spock by seeing him not as ears and spandex, but as a vehicle that gave meaning, joy, and direction to people. Similar to why Mark loves Luke.

Fix your spelling and your grammar before I take your childish argument seriously.
yeah he seems more passionate on indi and blade runner character compare to star wars... i agree with him if he felt han character not interesting to him...
That's what Jake Lloyd's beef with Star Wars was all about. Apparently he said that Star Wars ruined his acting career.

he has done hundreds. maybe even thousands. . . . and he clearly doesn't cut and run at the end of all of them.
It was pretty much the norm at Letterman at the time, guests often left immediately after interview. Nothing rude about that.
He didn't say "mid-interview"; he said "before the commercial break". The interview itself was concluded.
I always love how these actors hate what gave them a leg up in life.... There are far worse movie scripts than StarWars. StarWars was Great for it's time and the fact that StarWars was one of the main films/series that really opened up the SciFi Era

[" And by the way this will make Ford the ultimate, favorite Han Solo face forever (including the future SW movies)."]
Frankly, I don't give a fuck.
Danielle Rush *Actually gives a fuck by using up time in life to post that instead of actually not giving a fuck by ignoring it
Blue 1 Stop bitching behind your computer about it.
well that's the problem with a huge chunck of mouthbreathing so called SW fans. they believe SW should be a never ending gritty, dark war diary. they can't accept the fact that it's a fairy tale told in 3 movies, and that's the end of it.
"well atleast now he can sleep properly without ever having to play the role of han solo in another star wars movie evr again"
The rise of skywalker:there is another
Question - would he have been cast in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" if not for his appearance as Han Solo? When you look at his career prior, he was rapidly passing the "a star discovered" phase and firmly on track to being a perpetual B-list actor.
tom seleck was cast as indi but he played magnum instead
MKahn84 Nope.
It's possible I missed something but he beat out seriously famous people to play Han Solo and he is brilliant! I would argue that he would have become famous without Han Solo but would Han Solo be famous without him?
@@patricahyslop3270 Thank the CBS Gods!
agreed freaking actors are such flakes
Who wants to be type casted for more than 40 years?
As a charming lonewolf spacepirate with a lazorcrossbow wielding spacebear as parrot and some nice revenue irl? Yeah, this would suck indeed.
Richard Klosterman I liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and look forward to #5.
Richard Klosterman
He reprised his roles as Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Rick Deckard. That’s not exactly typecasting.
Nate the Great He was saying he was hardly typecast.
Indiana Jones was not an archeologist, he was a grave robber.

Whoa, that sounds fun for a video game. But it needs some spice... how about is a she instead of a he and... with huge boobs
I'd love to tell Mark Hamill I loved his voice acting in things like Regular Show, but if I have ONE chance to get ONE thing signed I'm gonna go with a Luke Skywalker photo.
they doesn't care at all!
Because Han Solo is cooler than Harrison Ford. He's jealous.
WanagiAkicita nigga what fords the best
Han Solo is so much cooler than Harrison Ford, the closest Ford can get to his coolness level is to pretend to be him.
AsurasPath22 its a joke
WanagiAkicita 100%
The logic in this...... the more you read it the more painful it gets....
Mark Hamill was paid a million dollars for 30 seconds of screen time? Lol that’s fucking legendary 😂
Thought I'd add a correction... Harrison was asked to do readings with the auditioning actors. As they continued, Lucas realized that Harrison read the parts better than the auditioning actors. At least, he felt that he encompassed the character better.
big mistake, lucas
Harrison Ford gets phone call…
*Disney exec:* Remember when Han shot that First Order trooper without looking?…
Han Solo Force Ghost.
I think Kurt Russell would have been as good Han Solo as Harrison Ford. Christopher Walken not so much.
"Uh, had a slight weapons malfunction... but, uh, everything's perfectly alright now, we're fine, we're all... fine... here... now. Thank you. How are you?"
now imagine that uttered by Snake Plissken...
Ford wanted to be Dead in the very first Star Wars movie he was in lol get your fact straight lol
No, he made the statement to Lucas during Empire.
Robert Beige exactly!!! People don't get the fact that it's a running joke
His Indy role was in 1981, so that proves that he spoke to Lucas about killing off Solo during Empire, not a New Hope.
Interesting Harrison Ford, because before Star Wars he was a nobody.
True, but he would've always been known as Indiana Jones.
I mean, so what if he doesn’t like talking about certain things:/
He likes being a nobody, that's all.
That's what I was thinking it's really what got his career going because literally everyone has seen the original Star Wars
Bboybolt there’s a decent chance he wouldn’t have been in Indiana Jones had it not been for his Han role
He reached for the phone, took a deep breath and answered
"Han speaking". And the rest is history.

Even though Han's character is cool, if you analyze it coldly, it's true what Harrison Fords says: it doesn't have much depth. Although thisis understandable, I still would've liked Han to live on, or at least go down like a man, that is, fighting.
MaximusPayne hopefully they give him some depth in his new solo movie
He did go down like a man. He confronted his son balls deep in enemy territory. His son, an emotionally unstable, ultra powerful space wizard, with he himself being just an ordinary guy. That would take serious stones bro
Yeah, sure, but I would have still preferred to see him go down in a more epic way. A fight would have been perfect, not just being slaughtered.
Murdered by his own Son.................Who would have thought?
Star Wars made him a superstar. Give me a break
And? Doesn't mean he has to like the role he played.
115th stormtrooper really? I tought Indiana was filmed couple of years after.
Mr Nobody in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Shane Ashby his role as Han Solo can't last forever shithead
+115th stormtrooper
Without his role as Han Solo he would of never got Indiana Jones... So yea, he owes his entire career to Star Wars/Han Solo.
His reasoning for not liking Han Solo is stupid. He loves to tell a story about how a movie producer once showed him a scene from a movie where Tony Curtis was playing a bellhop. The producer tells Ford "when you see Tony Curtis in that role, you can tell he's going to be a star." Ford replies "I thought you were supposed to see a bellhop."
What he meant by that was the performance is what was important.
Robert S Ford doesn't have a problem with the Solo Character, he has a problem with Disney, like everyone else.
he was happy disney got it, they wanted to kill his character (and the other OG characters).
Robert S, I liked him but he sounds like an asshole now.
Harrison: I don’t want to be defined by Han Solo! Noooo!
Also Harrison: hey ho! I play Han Solo in 5 movies!
🤪🤡
oh god, I feel so sorry for a person that a played a main character, in one of the greatest movies ever. if Harrison wanted to, why didn't he just say "no" to the part? in Hollywood, you almost have to be type casted, or you will not make it. Christian Bale and Robert Denerio could play various parts, but they are the few that did; every other successful actor had to pretty much play same character in each movie: Samuel Jackson, Tommy Lee Jones, Arnold Swartzenneger, Sylvester Stallone, etc.
Indiana Jones is his best tbh
Not sure if he's going to help or hurt the character in Indy 5
That's how I got introduced to him as a child, I was about 7-8 when I saw Indiana Jones and that's how I always see him. I was about 10 or something when I saw Star Wars and I didn't even know he was in there, I mean he did look much different of course.
It's like winning the lottery, then hating lottery machines.
Cry me a river Soblow
"He's never gonna get the call to play the character again."
This didn't age well.
I hate How he talks shit about a role that made him. and he would be unknown if he never played it.
really he was known for other roles besides star wars lol blade runner, witness, indiana jones, air force one and apocalpyse now? should we pretend those films didnt exist.
mark strong Of course we wouldn’t forget his roles in other amazing films, but playing Han Solo is literally the role that kick started his career, without that role he would more likely probably wouldn’t get play his other roles in his other movies.
I always thought it was because of the Star Wars holiday special. He wanted to quit at around the same time.
It's all Jar Jar's fault.
"How wude."

That's Sith Lord Jar Jar to you.
Kek what did Jar Jar do!!!!!!!
Everything is Jar Jar's fault. Including all things outside of Star Wars.

*Han returns in The rise of skywalker*
He should be humble and grateful like Patrick Stewart with his role of Picard.
Straight up I agree.
Just because you and a few other people think so?
He shouldn't be humble and grateful for anything you say...fuck off.
MJ Fan no , becouse he is what he is today because of that role in particular you might not like it but you still gotta respect it
@Goku sama Kakarotto I respect it, but I also respect that Ford is not just Han Solo or just Indiana Jones.
I don't understand why you say that Harrison ford left in the middle of the interview with abc like he didn't like talking about star wars, it is the host just saying it is finis Oo?
yeah, i watch colbert all the time and that interview was nothing lmao. grasping at straws, try harder next time
He could have just had to poop really badly
Ford, in more recent years, has been willingly involved in Star Wars events, signalling a certain softening towards the franchise. He even cameoed in "The Rise of Skywalker".
Han is one of my favorite characters. Han was one of the most believably real people in character and out of character that I know, Han Solo is an Everyman a Common Man's Hero: a Patriarch, an Honest Man, a Master Pilot, a True Friend and a Cool Older Brother, the roles this one man exemplifies dizzyingly boggles my mind, please Love Han Solo, he is as real as The Force.
He is maybe a jerk, but he does have a good side.
loving a perfect as**ole! sorry but even his level of grumpiness looked too unreal
I think he just doesn’t like the character
I hate myself too ngl
if I was Han solo
I WOULD BE HAPPIER THAN EVER
For a while until you realise that you have to trade off your own real identity for the role.
How can you not care about one of the most iconic characters ever in the history of movies
At least he actually came back

Harrison ford is as always as Indy

I always think of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Deckard from Blade Runner
it is important to mention that steven speilberg was very active in that project
Except Harrison is known as Han, Indy and Deckard among other characters, I can't speak for others but when I see him in a movie I say eww harrison Ford is in it this could be good, not something like eww han Solo is in it......
guy has done a ton of movies, Witness, Presumed Innocent, Patriot Games & The Fugitive among many others....sorry but the guy became a major star cus of SW and went on to do a lot of mainstream roles in really good movies which rose his star meter even higher....unlike a lot of actors he seems like a normal guy, not some superstar which he is lol basically I mean he handles fame well
Hon Solo was his best role and his best acting in my opinion.
I can understand Harrison Ford. To much work can obviously be... to much work. The part i dislike is that he was committed, and then wanted to quit when star wars got to popular.
Lena Luciano If he was smart he shouldn't have tried to audition.
Any actor or performer who has issue with the vehicle of their celebrity and livelihood obviously has too high an opinion of themselves.

being recognized is cool. but being recognized for one thing and one thing only time after time even when you’re trying to branch out? it’s not pleasant after a while
A very good point - but if that recognition continues to feed and clothe you while doing what you like to do, it seems you should be thankful.
I think Han would and should hate Harrison
ok , I was kinda joking anyways Han is a lot more real to me than Harrison who is a globalist and supports fascism
Alicia Cyberstone - That Han would hate Ford is probably why Ford hates Solo. Solo is way more popular, interesting, and timeless than he is.
It's not a question of life and death. You know why I think he hates him? Maybe due to the hordes of pathetic Star Wars fans who pester him relentlessly. Sir Alec Guinness was dead tired of receiving thousands of fan mails from people who never would have cared had he not appeared in the movie all their religious devotion was focused on.
Harrison should be grateful for his role in Star Wars! Without that, he would still be a carpenter
i mean...you can be greatful for something and still not like it tho...
he was known for more than star wars. lol people obviously havent watched him for indiana jones or his other films, lol talk bout hypocrisy at best
