How do these guys manage to keep a song from their early ages sounding so freaking good? John is nailing it, and Simon isn't showing any wear or tear on his voice.
Let's not forget, Simon had his vocal cords damaged some time ago where they honestly didn't think he would be able to sing again. Here he is singing better. What a trooper.
This is my absolute favorite Duran Duran song. I'm so glad they played it the "correct" way--in previous concerts they always did a slowed down version.
The DD fans freakin LOVE when you play the oldies!! That's why we pay to see you live... in hopes you'll play the songs we love .. Songs from 1979-1987... Faster than light, Late Bar, Fame, Come up see me make me smile... Your MILLIONS of true duranies want MORE of the original New Wave sound you brought to America!! Go back to your roots and have fun making revolutionary music!!! We miss you!!!
This is my all-time fave DD song, including bsides. I was thinking of hitting the Dublin show but passed. Thank you for sharing such a clear video with the new Rio bass on display! So happy they played the full song with my fave Si lyrics! Hope they bring this into the fold should they come to Europe *coughBerlincough* later this year!
Duran's astounding catalogue is so over-packed that this groove-laden wonder had been laid aside for far too along. Very clean and crisp sound here, something you don't get at all venues. Excellent!
@@brettgustin9471 Of course, but their ability to craft great new songs still continues - a little different, naturally, but still very "Duran". The Future Past album is packed with great songs - it is amazing what Nick, Simon and the guys keep doing.
I can't stop watching this!!! Everyday I get on youtube, I come straight to this video!!! The close up shots of John masterfully handing that bass is everything!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Are you sober? Masterfully handling a bass? Seriously? Most people don't hear the bass guitar. I was with Duran from the start. You need to read a book
@@amandakeogh9711 Excuse me?? You need to open a book, because you make so sense at all. And yes I said MASTERFULLY!!!! and if you were with Duran from that start, you should know this!!! You also need to clean out your ears, because Duran Duran is ALL ABOUT the bass. Is this Amanda DeCadenet?? lol
I guess in a way Simon Cowell did music a favour !!!....( ok there's loads of "oooo's and rrrr's" ) . However it thrusts this band BACK after 40 years 🙂
What. A. GEM! Thanks heaps for this rockin vid. Solid aim at John Taylor nailing that absolute belter of a baseline! And the Duran Duran lads still executing this rare gorgeous new wave classic, Last Chance on the Stairway, to utter perfection AND LIVE forty years later!
I still have the tape recorded from the radio of their Glasgow Apollo concert in 1981. This song played them was superb. Why the backing singers are silent I don't know. A let down for a powerful song.
Them playing this song is a dream come true for me. How they took this long to play it live consistently is beyond me. It is such a good live song
I read somewhere that this song is so complex musically that it is hard to play live. Glad they figured it out. I love this song and this was awesome
a masterpiece from the gigantic Rio Album. i love Last Chance on the Stairway so much!!!!
❤ this song ❤ and JT 🎸🔥❤
great
FANTASTIC job of keeping the camera on John, during all his killer BASS lines!!!
THE BASS ........ 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

I know, it’s stunning! We saw DD in Seattle in May and were blown away!
@@MontagZoso awesome! sure hope they play this when we see them in Vegas later this year!
I agree with you... Crazy
Let's not forget, Simon had his vocal cords damaged some time ago where they honestly didn't think he would be able to sing again. Here he is singing better. What a trooper.
They sound better right now than I have EVER heard them ….ever!
The bass playing was always cool, but now it’s a behemoth of a landmark DD performance. Who else plays bass likes this?!
Every track of Rio should be played live, that album it’s a masterpiece
Their best in my opinion.
What an amazing song ❤It’s about time that they play these amazing hits! Love Double D
This is my absolute favorite Duran Duran song. I'm so glad they played it the "correct" way--in previous concerts they always did a slowed down version.
That bass line............this was me in the 80s!!!!!
One of my fab! Excellent video! Thank you for sharing
Playback? Nooooooo.......It's 100% genuine live from a 100% genuine band! 24kts Rio!
What a joy to just watch & listen to JT kill it on the bass 🎶🥰✨❤️
Ah, nostalgia of the 1982 Rio LP (I was 14 yo) ; a great song, even after 41 years ! Thanks guys for that live performance !
Simon's voice is actually sounding better... amazing! Guess I'll go to that Atlantic City show and make a day of it.
I saw them at BottleRock in Napa earlier this year…fantastic!!! Go see them they are worth it!!!
John is so, so good at the bass. That's an insanely difficult piece.
What a great song

On fire. John is just blazing!
Replacing the marimba solo with a sax one on this live performance is a really nice touch. Simon Willescroft is wonderful sax man!!
Easily one of my favourite DD tracks , these guys still sound just as good as they did back in the day , bravo 👏
That bass line is next level. One of their best tracks for sure. And damn, they sound great.
This is my all-time fave DD song, including bsides. I was thinking of hitting the Dublin show but passed. Thank you for sharing such a clear video with the new Rio bass on display! One of my all time favorites
probably the greatest treasure in the music history had evolved so much better with time it sounds so much more lively than the cd's
So brilliant that they included saxophone here unlike the album version.
They still sound so f'king good, phenomenal band
Crystal clear video, feels like I'm right there. Thank you for sharing!!
That bass
*THANX A MILLION DD FOR KEEPING YOUR INSTRUMENTS IN TIP TOP SHAPE!!! **#LOVESIT* 🎤🎹🎸🥁🎷🥰

Their 80s stuff was special.

The sound in the 3arena in Dublin is excellent
that rio album was just incredible

These guys are the '80s! 🙂
I’m loving JTs New Romantic throw back shirt. Thanks for posting ❤
These guys floats in music!!!! No matter the years that passes by :-)
Sounds as good as ever. Nostalgia rush!
Just saw these guys in Sacramento on Thursday. Awesome show. This is the only song I wish they would've sung that they didn't.
Some gig
Roger and John are amazing. That base line wow!
Those were the days..the 80's... and they are still alive with Duran Eternal Duran !!!!!
Absolutely love love love this. One of my all time favs of theirs.
Fuck man JT is beating that bass like it owes him money... Camera needs to be on him more and poor old Simon less..
Scrap white lines and play this superior song. In fact, just play stuff from
The first three albums
Yes!!!
Ok maybe the first five albums 😊
AWESOME song! 🔊🎶🎵❤️☺️… ALWAYS Will be!! 😎🤙🏻❤️🔊🎶🎵🎶☺️
Love, love them!!
Your song is their DD appreciation day gift to us
They are absolutely amazing!!
Great song and an amazing performance!
My favorite DD song, PERIOD!!!!
One of my old faves ❤
My own way (Rio) version is my all time fave tho
Fantastic song and performance!!
Nearly all there album tracks could have been released as singles, superb
I wouldn’t mind them swapping out hungry like the wolf for this or play the night version of hungry.
x fin live @duranduran ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
John Taylor is an amazing player
De las canciones que más me gustan de ellos❤
#111!!! 💖
Oh my days these guys are still smashing it over 40 years on !! Not many bands can say that 😊 bravo boys 🎉 💪👏
This was great! Thanks for posting!
Esses caras são incríveis, tocando quase igualzinho a 1982, PQP, monstros.
This and Hungry Like a wolf were my favs on RIO
Makes me think I really have been doing the wrong jobs for the past 40 years🤔
what a great song! that bass line is so smooth.
Such a cool tune, Simon vocals are truly amazing!! His voice is aging better than any singer out there❤❤
God I love this song
DD, can you play those "deep cuts" when you come back here in LA?!!! Please, please, please!
Brilliant
Brilliant 🎉
I love every last song of the last 40 years....thank you DD for being along on this shared journey!
#Lovingthisrendition of #thecooltune #lastchanceonthestairway from @duranduran ~ #beautiful !! 💜💝♥️💖
Super bummed they haven't played this beautiful gem at any of the US venues so far 😞
That’s a shame. I
Might go see them
Based on this song alone.
sure hope they do will find out in August when we see them in Vegas ;)
Why did they take this and invisible off the setlist for the US tour?
The moment that his voice goes... I don't want to think about it...
Ugh. John is so perfect 😍
Dio mio, perchè non l’hanno suonata anche a Lucca?! 😢
Thank you DURAN DURAN for singing this song in concert!! Want you more is missing!
Essa música merecia ter tido um belo vídeo clip 😎
Ha mantenuto la sua freschezza a distanza di 40 anni, superlativi Duran🎉
Who's playing guitar here? That's not Andy, is it?
Dom Brown , Andy left in 2006
Amo esa cancion❤
Simon sounds great!
I guess in a way Simon Cowell did music a favour !!!....( ok there's loads of "oooo's and rrrr's" )

What?! They're playing this on this tour?! No way!
I sure hope so - seeing them August in Vegas
Yes and, sometimes, Lonely In Your Nightmare. 😉
Brilliant recording especially John on the instrumental break. Thanks so much for posting- you’ve made my night!
I remember finding a cassette in the early 80’s. Listened to it. It was Rio. Always like this song. Love 80’s New Wave and Spanish music.
que temonnnn lpm

Love Duran forever! Also - I need Simons T shirt! ❤❤❤
This is still my favourite song. Don't know why. I think it has something to do with a girl I used to know back then ;)
I love the fact that the boys have been playing this. Its one of my favorites off Rio
I thought this was the Bowl, we saw them a couple weeks later. Great show- 39 shows now.
